So the waitress seemed very knowledgeable and let me know they could offer my daughter a gf bun for her cheeseburger but not the fries because they didn't have a dedicated fryer. So she could have a side salad instead. So my daughter gets her meal she is enjoying the cheeseburger aftera couple bites the bun litterally falls apart. I understand sometimes with gf bread that happens and it's unfortunate. Then...she is having her salad then noticed there are 2 small fries that were hidden on her plate!! Then I wasn't impressed. Def not the waitress'fault she was excellent in letting us know what was safe and not safe. I think the kitchen staff need to be made aware of the seriousness of celiac disease and get more educated about gluten free meal preparation and cross contamination. Seriously...having a couple fries hidden under all her food was completely unacceptable.
Maybe a little unfair that I am writing this review given I didn’t actually eat there, but when your waiter doesn’t seem to know for sure if they have gluten free buns and there is nothing marked GF on the menu…. I ran for the hills. I am writing this because from the reviews it seemed like a safe place to go. Once there it didn’t seem safe.
Had a GF bun on a burger with mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion, fries aren’t cooked safely but was able to have rice with my burger! Waitress explained everything very carefully and was super knowledgeable about celiac disease and cross contamination as her mother has CD + other allergies as well.
If you ever come to Oahu area and you have a craving for burgers, get a traditional with a gluten free bun and a side salad instead of fries. Be sure to let them know of any gluten-based problems you have like Celiac.
P.S. I'm still saddened that the one in Lahaina is lost thanks to the 2023 fires.
The service here was amazing, they were busy, but even then the waitress was really on top of everything. The family member I went with who is celiac asked about one of the omelets, and the waitress immediately knew what celiac disease was and gluten and all that stuff. She made sure to check multiple times that it was safe before bringing the omelette to my mom. The food was also amazing, they had a gluten free gravy which she was very excited over since there's not a lot of gluten free gravys.
Came here after having an awful experience at Big Wave Dave's. The service was amazing, staff knowledgeable and the food was fantastic!
It's great to have a positive experience after having s potentially dangerous one at another place down the street.
The mimosa flight was great!
Conscious of the need to be gluten free.. informed fries may be contaminated..
I heard they have GF buns so I stopped by. I got there and told the waitress that I’m celiac and asked what there is. She was not sure and I feel like she guessed that they had GF buns and could do lettuce wraps on the burgers. I changed my mind and wasn’t in the mood for a burger and saw the air fried fish tacos. I read the description and to me didn’t seem harmful. It had corn tortillas, and wasn’t deep fried so I figured it wasn’t breaded. She only asked if the tortillas were ok and I said yes since they were corn. They were good and came with a rice in a tiny fried tortilla bowl. I wasn’t sure if the rice was safe but ate it anyway because it looked good. I didn’t eat the tortilla bowl since they don’t have a dedicated fryer (so no French fries). Not sure if I got glutened after or not. So be weary or stick with the GF buns or lettuce wraps.
