We have eaten here twice, all their food is delicious, huge portions, gluten free menu is extensive. Is celiac safe, with an up charge of only $2 for gluten free items.

Amazing gluten free Chinese food. It was so great being able to order almost anything from the menu! Service was wonderful-the food was so fresh and flavorful. Definitely worth the 30 minute ride for us! Can’t wait to go back. We even got drinks-white Mai tais made with Tito’s.

Went with a few family members today (I’ve gone once before) and had an amazing and safe meal. Even my non gluten free family members loved it. The abundance of choices are almost overwhelming since I’m used to so many limitations. It’s soooo gooood to eat Chinese food again.

This was delicious! Amazing quality, fresh, and great tasting!! Worth every calorie đź’ś They also have gluten free as an option on their website when ordering so you don’t need to ring up and do it manually like many other places that offer gluten free!

HOLY SH!T. THIS IS YOUR DREAM. For those with an allergy, you probably have asked yourself “if I could have any food for a day without getting sick, what would it be?” A lot of you would say classic Chinese food.
I was one of those people. Cheng-Du has it all , classic Fried wings, pork strips, beef teriyaki, fried rice, general gao, EVERYTHING. attached a menu to review.
So blessed to have this place relatively close (40min) haha.

I absolutely got glutened here last night. They charge $2 extra per item for gluten free too. I ordered house rice and sesame chicken. I can’t say for certain if it was one or both of those items because I ate them both on the same plate. I woke up in the middle of the night with an immediate “I got glutened” reaction. I won’t be going back to try them again.

We were so excited to try this restaurant. I was nervous that they weren’t exactly reassuring when I asked about cross contamination because my daughter is very sensitive. The waitress said it was separate. We got take out so we tested it with our NIMA gluten tester to be sure and it tested positive for gluten. They have many GF options but it’s not safe for people with celiac.

Love this place! They use r8ce noodles for lo mein, and GF soy sauce for almost any dish. They do NOT have a GF frier, so deep fried dishes marked GF are not actually GF. Pan fried dishes have been safe for me and I can not handle cross contamination at all. Mushi & sesame chicken are excellent! Call for take-out, they will take good care of you! Recently renovated and very modern and nice inside.

BEWARE of the soy sauce given to you with your meal. They do a great job with gluten-free. Everything is delicious. BUT the waitress we had last night did not really get the whole Celiac/Gluten Free thing. We told her at the start that my husband was celiac and everything at our table would be gluten free. When we ordered each dish we specified gluten free. We order the crispy dried sautéed shrimp. It came with a small container of spiced up soy sauce to dip in. We asked if gluten free and she said yes. The waiter happened to come over and say Hi and we mentioned celiac/gluten free. He said do not eat the soy sauce and took it away. He changed out my husbands plate, but he had already eaten some of it. The manager did speak to the waitress, but I still don’t think she “got it”. Not sure why they don’t just use all gluten free soy sauce!

SO GOOD!!! Like another review said, about 85% of the menu can be made gluten free. The waitress told me how everything is made. Even the soups are made to order, so they take just a bit longer.
The waitress kept laughing at me because I was so excited to find really good gluten free Chinese food!!

I’ve been here a few times and when I walked in it was like I never left. Our server was so nice and friendly. She remembered I was gluten free and remember my bf isn’t and what he wanted. I’ve tried a few different items and haven’t been disappointed once. If you want Chinese food this is the place to go.

Phenomenal food and gluten free experience. Ordered everything gf which the waitress confirmed a few times (and remembered to not give us fortune cookies at the end!), and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. We had chicken tenders and sautéed calamari for apps, chicken with pea pods and mushrooms, strange flavored chicken, General Gau’s chicken and crispy sesame chicken for entrees and sides of Cheng-Du (house) fried rice, veggie fried rice and chow mein as sides. Could not recommend more highly; definitely worth the $2 up charge for gf per dish for the safety and taste!

I have Celiac and my wife and I were going to a Pat's game last week and looking for Asian (usually we do thai curries) we came across Cheng du as "gluten free" did not believe it.
I went to the restaurant prior to ordering our takeout and was quite surprised at how well they knew gluten free issues...grabbed a paper menu and phoned it in to be sure.
We had a great meal no issues even the beef Teriyaki which I miss the most outside of dumplings..(relegated to Feel good foods and one place in Manhattan)
We had Mongolian beef, Strange flavored chicken, Teriyaki beef, Sesame chicken and crispy wings.. (No I am only 160 lbs but, if I can get Chinese food I order a ton.. Plus we had a fridge and stove in our hotel...) I had no issues and the food was fantastic. The Mongolian beef was super tender and my new fave.. Wish it were spicier..
The only issue was we did not realize they do not provide rice with the meals so be sure to order the rice!
BTW we just went back after the "King Richards faire" and took my daughter who is also Celiac so for 2 weeks in a row great food with no reactions at all!! This is also right off 95 transiting the NE corridor.*(when you hit 295 place your order!)
BTW we live over an hour away at the Ct border and I plan on hitting this place on the way back from skiing this winter!!

I've been to this establishment twice so far, they do charge $2 for anything prepared gluten free so that can add up. However they have a decent selection with clearly marked items, and the food is good if not slightly under seasoned.

This is NOT a safe restaurant for anyone with Celiac to dine at. I have Celiac Disease and I am very sensitive. During the past couple of months, we have gotten take out from Cheng-Du three times. I was very careful to select items that were labeled "GF" on their menu including Dry Sauteed Vegetables, Crispy Sesame Beef, Orange Flavored Beef, Cheng-Du Fried Rice, and Lake Tung Ting Shrimp. When I placed my order I stressed each time that I am sensitive and that I must follow a strict gluten free diet. I was reassured that extra care would be given to my order. There had to be gluten in something that I had all three times as I was very ill after eating.

We have been patrons of this establishment for years. I was always confident that the staff was knowledgeable with celiac and never had a problem before. Last week we went for dinner with friends and we always order all gluten free for us all, so there is no danger of cross contamination. Unfortunately because of the pandemic, they lost most of their help. The new waitstaff can hardly speak or understand English. I told her I was celiac and that everything we all ordered would be gluten free. We ordered crispy aromatic shrimp which was listed as gluten free on the menu. It was delivered and we began to eat it when the manager stopped by and said you should not have gotten that sauce with your meal, that it contained gluten. They do have gluten free soy sauce but even though it was stressed to bring only gluten free to our table our waitress messed up. I also blame the kitchen, because it should never have been sent out on the plate to begin with. As stated before we have never had a problem here before. I think the management has to spend more time training this new crew and if that isn’t possible, the manager should be delivering all gluten free and and other allergy foods themselves like other establishments do to ensure that people with auto immune diseases and allergies don’t get contaminated and be sick for days because of it. You are either serious about this or you are not.

AMAZING. I haven't had chinese food in almost ten years, and this tasted exactly like what I remember. We had two celiacs who felt great after eating here, and one non-gf relative who loved the food too! Absolutely returning ASAP.

So many gluten free options! Easy to order online.
Food was great and my waitress double checked that got my order right. Can't wait to go back

These reviews are all TRUE!! 'First time I had real Chinese food that tasted like the gluten full equivalent with this many options since I was diagnosed 13 years ago! Such an extensive menu, and we had great Mai Tai's at the bar while we placed our order and waited for our food (not long). Can't wait to go back again!

Finally found a Chinese restaurant where I can eat too!! It's been 3 years since being diagnosed and this restaurant did not disappoint! The staff was super helpful, and there were so many choices. No chicken fingers, but I honestly didn't miss them with everything to choose from. Boneless spareribs were amazing! Definitely coming back.

Wow- all of your Chinese food dreams come true, except for maybe a gf dumpling option. One can dream. The portions are very large and the food was just as good as gluten versions at your traditional Chinese American spot. The fried rice was the white kind, which I like. Everything else was also spot on. I think they make the roasted pork in house.
Yes
The whole menu is able to be made gluten free. It took me forever to choose because it’s been years since I had that many choices. Delicious. If you love/miss Chinese you should definitely go!

I couldn’t wait to finally check out this restaurant. A friend and I ordered food online before a local concert. They have TONS of options, but we finally decided on chicken pad Thai, General Gau’s chicken, shrimp fried rice and teriyaki beef. Everything was EXCELLENT. I haven’t had Chinese food in years and it was so wonderful being able to enjoy it again. The teriyaki beef was so tender, everything was amazing and I cannot wait to go back!!!
Happened by this place on the way to an appointjment. First time in 4 years that my daughter was able to eat a Pu-Pu Platter! Amazing that she could get it all gluten-free. Most Asian restaurants that have GF don't do appetizers. Staff was very helpful and it was all delicious! It's 45 minutes away from home, but we will be back.
(Daughter is highly sensitive to gluten but not celiac.)
SO MANY GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS AND TASTES AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Excited to have gluten free old school (I call it’s 90s) Chinese food! Had no issues after eating. Waiters was great
I Nima tested all my food. General gao’s chicken and beef with Broccoli came back gluten found. Fried rice and boneless ribs came back ok. Be careful eating here.
LOVE this spot! I don’t know of any other GF Chinese food places in the area, who actually know what they’re doing. I find the food very tasty and flavorful. My non celiac husband really enjoys it too.

Love their food. Great and very careful with allergies!

This was the worst GF Chinese food I have had. It was under cooked and had little to no flavor. It was very expensive and not worth it at all. I will not be going back.
Legit the best Chinese food I've ever had. You'd never know it was gfree, and portions are huge! ❤❤❤❤ So so glad I found this place
