This was my favorite restaurant as a kid. They recently came out with gluten free pizza, and it has the same Chi Chi's flavor I remember.
Review is of Gluten Free - not regular food. They have horrible cross-contamination issues. The GF dough is frozen, they put it on the same boards they make regular pizza on. They won't - even if you ask - put anything down on top of the board or put the GF dough down some place else. They cook the pizza in the same oven as other pizza and use same utensils to remove and cut. They get mad at you if you ask about precautions. I won't ever eat here because of all these concerns.
I went here after seeing their page banner saying gluten free. When I inquired about safety and cross contamination the man became hostile and told me to eat somewhere else as he said their pizza is made in the same oven and area as non gluten pizza. He also said the same pots were used for both gluten free pasta and regular. So clearly this is just another place that thinks gluten free is a fad diet and doesn’t understand its a medical need.
Tried Chi Chi’s GF pasta which is cooked in a separate pot and topped with a specially made tomato and basil sauce. Manager talked me through precautions taken and I felt comfortable to try it. It was delicious! As someone with Celiac I wouldn’t I try the pizza because it’s cooked in the same oven as other pizza without any special barrier. Will definitely go back for the pasta!
