Had chicken and steak fajitas with corn tortillas. No gluten problems, but they were heavy on the black pepper.
Be cautious because their corn chips are fried with their breaded items, making them exposed to gluten. It is listed as gluten free on their menu, and the wait staff has always said they were gluten free. But during our last visit, one staff member was nice enough to tell us how they are prepared.
Went to the chili’s in terminal E. Staff seemed confused with my requests but luckily it was easy enough to find their gluten friendly menu online. Please note that online menu also states that cross contamination is possible here. Though they add blue * to show items that are cooked with items with gluten. Food was as expected okay and not the cheapest but such a find in the airport when options are limited.
Ok, so I read the reviews and decided to try it out anyway. As stated , the only copy of the GF menu was lost. I asked to see the manager who was as very helpful. She could not guarantee that any chicken or meat would not be cross contaminated and suggested the salads. Not wanting a soggy salad I requested the dressing on the side. I had the Caribbean salad without chicken or shrimp. The manager added extra oranges and cranberries. I did not get sick.
Beware of this place. If you tell them you can’t have gluten, they’ll still serve you something with gluten in it. I’m not sure they really understand . I’ve tried going there more than once and each server thinks they know what they are talking about. I won’t go back as it’s not worth getting sick every time.
Asked for the fajitas with corn shells of course and there were very compliable. Even went as far as getting the manager to say that they would be sure to put it through the oven with a clean pan so I wouldn't get sick. Very thankful.
Service was great, I got a to go order of the Margarita chicken, it wasn’t until I was half way into the chicken I realized it appeared to have been put onto a bead of rice and taken off and put into my to go container therefore being cross contaminated. So even though I had expressed I had a “gluten allergy” (way faster to explain than celiac), the kitchen staff didn’t seem to understand how sensitive that much of a cross contamination can be. I did get sick, and it appears only due to a slight contamination I didn’t get destroyed, but still enough to be noticeably glutened.
No separate gluten free menu at this location, but they have a digital version of the allergen information that you can cross reference with the menu. I ordered tacos with corn tortillas and rice and beans. The meal came out with flour tortillas and chips, so I asked them to take it back. On the positive side, they did re-cook the meal, and they also gave it to me free of charge after the manager came out, apologized, and assured me my new meal would be safe. On the negative side, it took them about 20-25 minutes to re-cook the meal, and the rest of my family had pretty much finished eating by the time I started. I will probably try other gluten free options in the area before I come back here.
With the new iPad type things on the table, usually used for games - they have a “diet” section which shows all items that are made with gluten, milk, soy, vegan/vegetarian, etc. The staff is always great and always gets you exactly what you want. I felt very safe and comfortable eating here and never have an upset.
I got the To Go. I used to eat at Chili’s all the time so I know what is and isn’t gluten free. Margarita Chicken is good without tortilla strips. Service is kind of crappy, but whatever.
Same as other Chili's -- they have some options, and the staff have had some training. I imagine the risk of cross-contamination is there, but I have never gotten sick. I usually get the BBQ ribs with "original" sauce, and a salad. This particular Chili's was very busy and it took about an hour to get our food. Our server was very friendly, but we had a lot of trouble getting her attention for anything. The GF options are listed on an electronic kiosk at the table. It was decent compared to other Chili's I've been to, and honestly there is NO WHERE in Hobbs that knows anything...at all... about gluten. If you're traveling here and you need to eat, Chili's is probably one of your best options.
If you get the right server they will take care of you!
No! We visit CA kids once a year. Had a problem last year. Tried again. Hostess, waitress both literally flippant. I showed waitress the April 2018 menu on my phone. Asked for manager. Manager said there’s a gf button. Our fajitas came out with flour tortillas. If this was the last restaurant in the San Fran area, I’d never return. They truly don’t care.
Told us that they have NO gluten free menu items.
The waitress we had and the kitchen staff were knowledgeable. Better selection than most restaurants I’ve visited since I was diagnosed. Had the shrimp bowl without the tortilla strips from the fresh section of the menu. It was very good and a nice change from my usual choice of salad...or salad...because that’s the only choice in many restaurants.
The awesome thing about this restaurant is that on the kiosk at your table they have the whole gluten-free menu so you can see what actually has gluten and what might have gluten! I am not totally sure about cross-contamination but I do know that I have eaten here over 10 times and never been sick… Even though lots of other places have made me sick before!
The menu is not labeled for GF or allergens. The tabletop ziosk had a spreadsheet to see which foods had allergens, but it was cumbersome to pick something and then look it up in the regular menu to read about the dish. Waitstaff was not knowledgeable about GF. Very limited options. No GF desserts. I did not feel comfortable eating here.
The staff seemed to know nothing about gluten free. I was told “there may be information on the tabletop computer”. There was an allergy spreadsheet on the tabletop computer, but it took patience and determination to confirm which menu items may be safe to order. Upon ordering fajitas, the waitress reminded me she knew nothing about gluten, so I explained and asked her to please provide corn tortillas and not flour ones. I received flour tortillas with the fajitas, and had to send them back. Though very sensitive, I’m fortunately still not reacting after two hours. However, I won’t likely eat here again due to unnecessary risk. If I didn’t have two young children with me who insisted on Chili’s today, I would have left before eating this time.
Waitresses always super careful. Baked potato soup, salads without croutons, grilled chicken and many other items. I’m not celiac (?) haven’t been tested but I also eat their chips and salsa. Fajitas can come with corn tortillas. They have an allergen menu online!
Zero indicators for what does and what does not have gluten. And they were out of corn tortia’s Plus the salad was wilted and soggy
the nutrition information is available on the Ziosk at the table. Ask the waiter to help look it up. It is clearly marked which items risk cross contamination, vs which items are GF, DF, nuts, etc. I am not allergic, so cross contamination is not a big risk for me. I am GF DF due to Hashimotos.
The waiter wasnt too sure about allergies but they did have an allergen menu which lists gluten wheat AND whether it is likely to suffer from cross contamination. Like the above reviewer I ordered the Ancho Grilled Salmon to be safe as possible and explained to the server. Within the hour I had pretty severe abdominal cramping which for me indicates a coeliac trigger. Pretty uncomfortable flight after. Avoid would be my advice
