Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.
From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."
Happy to have no issues with the Chipotle location. If you’re buzzing up to Door County, it’s not too far off the highway to get this fast food. The (possible) manager took care of prepping my bowl off to the side during a busy afternoon. I’m a sensitive celiac and had no problems.
Two years later (from the other review) and they still change their gloves, use the little cups to scoop food and use fresh cheese and lettuce from the back when you tell them you have a gluten allergy. I felt so comfortable eating here and I told them thank you about 100 times bc it was so nice that they take the gluten allergy/cross contact seriously!
Chipotle is a go-to gluten-free, vegetarian option for us. They are generally mediocre, but they’re everywhere. This one was particularly bad, so it bears mentioning:
(1) no toilet paper in either bathroom
(2) no corn tacos (completely out)
(3) no brown rice (completely out)
(4) no flavoring added to the white rice (just completely bland)
(5) they initially refused to give us tortilla chips at check out because they only had them pre-bagged in large bags not the kid-size bags, even though they had huge bins filled with chips waiting to be bagged.
Most Chipotles are sad. This one was extra sad. Hopefully this was just a one-off bad Friday night, but there you go.
We actually did not even stay to eat. When we walked in and asked about gluten free, the worker didn't even know what gluten was and had no idea about any precautions or anything else. Yikes! I will assume that nothing is safe to eat there since they do not even take the time to train their staff about food sensitivities and allergies.
