Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions. From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."

Just don’t. Most chipotle’s are respectful when making a request to change gloves. The young man who helped me was respectful. It was another person down the line who I had to give a detailed account to on why you can’t roll a tortilla before you make a bowl. She was told three times I had an allergy and was incredibly difficult.
We eat here all the time. My son has celiac disease and when we let them know they change gloves, wipe the prep surface down, get new spoons and use fresh ingredients whenever possible. He has never had an obvious reaction.
You can eat here safely IF you avoid cheese or lettuce. They stick their hands in both these things after touching tortilla. Tell them you have an allergy and they will wash hands and change gloves. Just don’t let them put in anything they stick their hands in.
Read the reviews here before going to this location tonight. Expected great things. Walked in to see all the tables filthy at 5:09pm on a Saturday. Staff person had NO IDEA what celiac was, had equally NO IDEA what to do about a wheat allergy. We turned and left. Terrible. Would give zero stars if possible.
I was overwhelmed with appreciation for the amazing service my 6 y/o newly diagnosed celiac Child received at this location. They removed all existing utensils, re-wShed hands, sanitized, changed gloves, pulled out fresh tins of the food options she chose and handled her food perfectly. It was a huge relief for our first night eating out since we received the diagnosis. THANK YOU Chipotle!!
The staff was very accommodating to celiacs. I don’t know the names of the 2 women that helped me but I was ordering gluten free and gluten entrees and one woman made mine and the other made the tacos for my husband. She washed her hands, used hand sanitizer, and new gloves and got brand new cheese and lettuce for my burrito bowl. Will 100% return to this location.
Best Chipotle I've been to in terms of reducing cross contamination. Employees wash their hands and change gloves, don't set the bowl down on the line, use papers over the ingredient scoops, and always take out fresh lettuce and cheese. I've never had any issues after eating there.
I love their food but have gotten sick too many times to eat there anymore, Their toppings for the most part are safe. They do not like getting a new spoon for each ingredient that you want though. They’re too busy.
Every time I eat here I ens getting sick. The staff is great and changes their gloves, but I still get sick. It must be something they are doing while preparing the food. Definitely not safe for celiacs!
I came in, asked the guy behind the counter to change his gloves for my daughter’s meal. He immediately washed his hands thoroughly, changed his gloves and prepared my daughter’s entire bowl from beginning to end.
Staff was terrible put chicken that fell on counter back in bowl. They were rude about changing gloves and touched every surface of the counter after they did change them. Protocol for allergies was not followed at all. Not safe to eat at this location.
The staff are very knowledgeable. They wash their hands. They change their gloves and spoons. Toppings and they put tinfoil on their soft corn tortillas on tortilla Press. They wipe down the surface :) I love chipotle so much :)
Great place to go if you’re celiac! Every time I have gone as soon as I say I’m celiac they wash their hands, change their gloves, and get new utensils to serve the food with. I have never gotten sick and have been here a lot. Highly recommend!
Upon arriving, I talked to the manager about getting my food from fresh bins not put out on the line due to preventing cross contamination. She was very accommodating even though they were really busy. She put my plate together for me. The food was really good. Chipotle is one of my favorites! So glad they didn’t disappoint! No tummy issues either.
The lady who made my bowl changed gloves immediately when I told her I was celiac.
Unfortunately, chips or tortillas are no longer considered gluten free anymore according to the staff. While they used to say the corn chips and tortillas were gluten free, the web site confirms they may all be contaminated with wheat.
Our go-to place for safe, healthy eating. This one is the best we've been to in Columbia for getting it roght and safe food handling. We can eat gluten free and dairy free, in addition to vegan and healthy! Folks at the Chipotle on the West side of Columbia aren't yet trained well on safe allergy practices, but they are usually willing to adjust when asked.
This is a great location and the staff is super knowledgeable with food allergy handling! I have celiac which is treated as a gluten allergy and the staff immediately asked if I needed them to wash their hands, and did that and changed gloves. Another employee removed the spoons from items I wanted and the one helping me used new spoons for all items and fresh cheese & lettuce. The food was fresh and I was very impressed with their attention to detail.
Not celiac friendly!!! I got very sick from eating a bowel.
