Chipotle is pretty much safe! All of the food is gluten free except for the tortillas. They do however touch everything with the same gloves, which could cause cross-contamination, but I have never reacted to their food myself. Staff cares and acknowledges allergies too.

Love being able to order any burrito bowl, any topping. Appreciate the accommodation with changing the gloves.

They are willing to accommodate my request to change gloves (since I don't know if they touched a flour tortilla in the gloves) but sometimes it takes several attempts to explain what I want them to do due to language barriers.

Notes

Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions. From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."

I just said the word gluten allergy and the guy working immediately moved a coworker over to continue taking orders while he took off his gloves, scrubbed his hands and put new gloves on to make our child's build your own. We do bring our own cheese to cut down on possible cross contamination but it was so awesome to not be questioned or made to feel like we were slowing things down, especially for how busy they were. We always feel great going to chipotle!!

If you have a gluten intolerance and not an allergy you may be okay eating here. I am severely allergic to gluten and cannot eat at Chipotle. I get sick, even ordering a plain bowl! Not sure what items trigger my allergy.

Great service. Only the tortillas have gluten. Corn salsa and chips came with a warning from the growers, so we skipped them. Employee gladly washed his hands and put on new gloves when we told him about wheat intolerance.

Was going multiple times a week until I had a reaction to this chipotle. When busy they dont wipe down counter or change out cheese.

Great people. Cleaned off the prep area and washed hands/changed gloves without even asking. Even have separate lettuce and cheese. Very knowlegable and friendly staff. I didn't feel wierd at all when ordering. Another reason why I love this chain! :)

I went in at a not so busy time and asked if they could change gloves and do a gf bowl. She said I couldn’t have a bowl with rice because rice comes from wheat and has gluten. I didn’t feel safe and left.

I've never had an issue when eating here. The staff is so friendly and always ensure my food is safe for me to eat. They automatically change their gloves, all utensils and provide fresh ingredients that are not cross contaminated.

Staff was very knowledgeable and assured me that precautions would be taken to prevent cross-contamination. You can watch them change gloves. Everything, as I understand it, except the tortillas are gluten free. They were very busy but managed to keep my meal safe!

Upon request they will change their gloves, the spoons and use a new container of cheese. I'm extremely sensitive and I've had no problems here.

The employee today did not understand about cross-contamination. She changed her gloves, but she was moving so fast, she had put cheese and lettuce from the tubs on the line in our bowls and had her gloves off standing at the cash register before I even knew what happened. But we did a sorry job advocating for ourselves, we’re new to this, newly diagnosed only a couple of weeks, we should have made her go back and make us new bowls after explaining to her about cross-contamination in the tubs of cheese and lettuce on the line, new gloves did nothing to protect us from that. About 20 minutes later, we both had a stomachache.

Chipotle in Mooresville does a great job with Celiac. I believe the management there is on top of it and has really trained their staff. Not only do they change their gloves, but they understand all about cross-contamination, and will get new containers of cheese and lettuce because the ones on the line have been cross contaminated by those handling the wheat tortillas.

When I asked them to change their gloves they also brought out new tubs of cheese and lettuce since they touch those with their gloves and the whole line passed down and worked together to make sure my food wasn’t cross contaminated!

Not all Chipotle’s are created equally. Michelle at this location immediately removed gloves and thoroughly washed her hands and lower arms, she got rice and beans that was on reserve (for the next refill). She took all the necessary steps to minimize cross contamination with a smile. No signs of being bothered especially since a line was forming. We need more Michelle’s. I got a rice bowl, with beans & fajita veggies. I avoid the cold toppings because of the standard use of hands or spoons touching flour tortillas. Update: Went back and got glutened, so reducing rating I will only eat at this location if Michelle is working.

This location has stepped up their protections for folks with Celiac. I asked for a glove change because I have Celiac and they sprang into action removing the spoons from every item I was getting and getting fresh containers of lettuce and cheese. This is not a gluten free environment, but they took every precaution.

First time going here today and I just said mine needs to be gkuten free. The guy immediately went and washed his hands and changed gloves. He was very nice about it too even though it was busy. He followed me through the line rather than hand it off to the next guy. Very good, felt safe...

I’m Celiac and eat her at least twice a week, safely! The staff looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language when I said Celiac, but as soon as I said “wheat allergy”, staff knew exactly what to do- they took off their gloves, washed their hands, changed out all spoons, and grabbed my shredded cheese from an entirely new container that had not been touched. They were very understanding as well! Very thankful for this place!!

The staff will change their gloves upon request. The tortilla press is shared with wheat tortillas, so avoid that. They have hard and soft corn tacos, as well as rice bowls and salads.

After being assured by staff that they taco tortillas were corn tortillas both my sister and I were given flour tortillas. Later after inquiring with the manager she confirmed they were flour. Very disappointed in their staff knowledge and training. NEVER GET SOFT TORTILLAS. They are not gluten free.

The best location I’ve been to for gluten free across multiple states - I mentioned gluten allergy and the woman immediately switched out all spoons and changed her gloves without even being asked!! She also got out new cheese & lettuce without asking. So nice to feel comfortable and huge portions too.

I just went here and was beyond impressed by how well staff handled needs. Definitely well trained there with celiac!! Washed hands, changed gloves, for our fresh cheese and lettuce and did so seamlessly.

New location at Regency Square Mall - in an out building. Most all items are inherently GFree. Have eaten there many times with no issues.

Staff changed their gloves and all the food is definitely GF as long as you avoid the cross contaminated cheese and lettuce! I brought my own cheese from home! I used the Nima sensor on my food and no gluten was detected! I got the brown rice, chicken, fajitas, corn, and mild salsa! SO happy!!

I had to ask for them to change their gloves. They used the same cheese that others pulled from using gloves that had touched the tortillas. I spoke with the manager and felt he could of talked to the employee preparing my sons food how to properly prepare to keep him safe.

This review is for all you Chipotle eaters out there. Why you be eating this nasty food? Everytime I go I get a chunk of fat in my meat. I'm sure you'll say, "that means it's fresh". I take that as you getting fresh with me because these monkey fighters are trying to kill me. Qdoba is the place to be. Get yourself some actual good queso on your food for NO CHARGE. Both places charge for guac, so I say just make your own and bring it with. That's why God invented cargo shorts.

The staff was amazing. When I told them I had celiac‘s, everyone washed their hands and new gloves were put on. I ordered a bowl and was given ingredients from freshly made items brought out from the back with clean serving utensils. Everyone was very nice.

I used to eat here all the time, but the staff now seem less aware of celiac and how to avoid cross contamination and are unfamiliar with methods used before. After hearing repeated disclaimers and caveats, I opted to go a dedicated facility up the street.

The staff was very nice. I asked them to change their gloves and wash their hands and they did. The girl making my food offered to use the new food that had been cooked in the back, but I was in a hurry and did not want to wait. She did use all new spoons for all the toppings. Everyone was very considerate, especially for a busy evening.

Ate here for lunch with my daughter after first checking the gluten free options on Chipotle's website. I informed the server I had a gluten allergy and was treated well.

I watched the staff members touch various utensils to the flour tortillas over and over again. I stepped out of line when it was my turn because this chain is very much not safe for celiacs, and the sloppy cross-contamination has ensured that I will never eat at this chain again. If you are celiac, dine at your own risk here.
