As soon as I said gluten the entire line changed their gloves!
I love Chipotle and have for awhile, even before I got diagnosed with celiacs. But a month ago I went there I felt sick after.. I assumed it was my IBS acting up. I went again this week and I definitely got glutened. they even changed the utensils out and changed their gloves. I would advise if you're very sensitive not to go there...
Love Chipotle! They wash their hands, change gloves and use separate utensils. That same person makes my whole order. If I want lettuce, they will get it from an unopened bin so as not to grab any possible contaminated lettuce from the bin currently being used.
Read about chipotle and their gluten free online. Came to this location and barely uttered the word gluten free before the line staff all changed their gloves and pulled out all the non contaminated toppings from the back. I was in shock. They were completely knowledgeable and prepared and did not make me feel any less "normal" thank the next person. Awesome!!
Ok, so here's the deal with Chipotle: they are a fast-food style restaurant. You can't expect them to automatically know how to handle your level of sensitivity. However, my experience has been that they are more than happy to change gloves, spoons, and even get fresh product from the back for you if you lead with telling them you have an allergy and asking them very nicely to do those things specifically. I am highly sensitive and have never had trouble here, but I am always super nice and very clear about what I need them to do.
Never been sick. I usually don't ask them to change gloves but last time even though I said bowl she grabbed a torrilla first. She was really nice about chanfing in gloves and even got fresh spoons for all the stuff i wanted. I've never seen them touch a tortilla with a spoon. It was a really nice gesture. i really like the food. It's very filling. I usually split it with my son or if he's not with me, eat half and save for late
everything gf except flour tortillas, will change gloves
Every time I've visited this location they have been very good to change their gloves. The manager we see each time is careful to make sure new staff know to wash their hands, change their gloves, and follow my meal all the way down the line. I've not had a problem at this location.
I always stick to a bowl. Ask server to change gloves and spoons if ur highly sensitive. Changing gloves works well for me and I have Celiac. However, u get how well they follow protocol when u walk in so I would use it on a case by case basis. I also stay away from tortilla and chips to be safe. This location is great. I also have used Chipotle when on vacation, you can't fail!
Had the burrito bowl which is always delicious. I couldn't remember if the chips were GF so I asked and they said they were not GF. I googled it later to realize they are GF and I could've had them! Darn it! Delicious food as always but staff may want to brush up on their knowledge.
I told them about my gluten sensitivity and they changed their gloves and washed hands! The girl who started my bowl didn't get fresh chicken or rice but when I got to the veggies line another girl grabbed fresh salsa for me! I sadly, got a reaction after eating it:( I think that if all topping are flipped then it wouldn't have happened! I am willing to give it another try though.
Here's my Google review: 5 stars! Brian, the new GM, happened to be the one to take my order when it was my turn this afternoon. I was very nervous about whether or not Chipotle would be able to accommodate me due to an extreme allergy to gluten. When I gave my order to Brian and noted my allergy, he went above and beyond without hesitation, changing out all of the serving utensils, meticulously wiping down the serving area, and making sure that I was being served food safe for me all while keeping the long line moving. Big thanks to you, Brian. I'll be back again and again!
Make sure to state you're gluten free right at the beginning of the line so they can first change their gloves and wash their hands and change out the spoons. The employee asked if I was celiac and said that made a difference and was very nice. All the menu items including chips are gluten free except the flour tortillas. Get a burrito bowl, salad, or tacos!
Gluten-free friendly :) only reason I didn't do 5 stars is because they were not busy (2 other customers in whole restaurant) & we felt like we were rushed to order like they were in a big hurry, they could've been a little friendlier & slowed down a bit so we could understand them better. Other than that, awesome food!!!
I'm a regular there and they start changing their gloves right as I walk in. If it's someone I don't know, I simply tell them I have an allergy to gluten and they'll change their gloves. There staff is very careful and if a mistake is made they will redo your order. I always watch carefully, especially at other chipotles because it's really easy to get cross contamination if one of the employees doesn't know what they doing.
The woman was very rude and seemed immensely bothered by me asking her to change out the spoons. She was rushing me through it so fast she wasnt listening to what I was asking for. She didnt get a new cheese or guacamole and had put them on and pushed my food off with annoyance before I could ask her to make proper preparations. It's possible it was just this one woman but the other was very rude as well so training here is not great. Come in ready to tell them exactly what you want and take control early.
ingredients mostly GF by nature. good fast food option.
First time. Terrible corn tortillas. Felt rushed thru the line, mediocre tacos. Chips and gauc were excellent. All tortillas go in the same warmer. Scooper touches every taco on the assembly line.
I have had good luck not getting sick here. There are lots of places there can be cross contamination but as long as I don't eat anything towards the end of the counter closest to them (because they drag flour tortillas down the line and I've noticed them dipping into the bins of ingredients), I seem to be all right.
The only place I can eat out safely. The staff is always on point when I order my gluten free bowl. I have visited other locations in the DFW area, but they just don't rise to the level of service I found here in Sherman. Thanks for making my GF life a little easier!
I like going to chipotle because they are generally educated on gluten free diets. All of the menu items are gluten free except the flour tortillas so you can get a burrito bowl, salad, corn tortilla tacos, and chips. There have been a couple of times tho when the staff didn't seem educated. You have to tell them at the beginning of the line GF/celiac so they change their gloves, get new lettuce and cheese, and change the spoons. A couple times they messed up but cleaned everything and made me a new bowl. Just watch them carefully and make a complaint online if it's unsafe and they can train better.
"If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."
