Whenever we go to Chipotle, we always advise we have Celiac disease and ask for person to change gloves. We ask that one person take food down the line. We get the bowl with rice, protein of choice, beans and guacamole. We are Hesitant about ordering the shredded cheese. This is due to fact that some servers do not use tongs and touch flour tortilla and then gloved hand into cheese. Stick to the queso. Ask for fresh lettuce from back as their gloved hands touch the flour tortilla which then goes into lettuce. Do not get the tortilla chips as it is not a celiac safe fryer.

When we use these precautions, we can eat safely here.

Notes

Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.

From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."

Like others who have reviewed this store, when I told them I have celiac they immediately changed their gloves and cleaned off all the surfaces and replaced all utensils with clean ones.

Do not eat at this chipotle if you have celiac. Hard shell tacos are apparently fried in the same oil as flour tortillas. Not sure if that's normal, but the staff also knows nothing about gluten and the manager was very rude and refused when I asked if she could get ingredients from the back for my bowl. Also she was adamant on the fact that the white rice had gluten, so it's not a safe option at all.

The staff is very nice and understanding and changed their gloves and washed their hands. If you ask they will get new lettuce and cheese out so no cross contamination, at some places they do automatically but others you have to ask. The chips are gluten free and have no cross contamination, and mostly everything else except the tortillas and maybe the queso is gluten free
