Delicious GF pizza!! Their GF dough is made with rice flour. They cook gluten-containing flour dough pizzas in the same kitchen and pizza oven, but noted they use different pizza pans and clean the area where the GF pizza is to be cooked within the pizza oven. Proceed with caution, but I am very sensitive to gross-contamination and didn’t get sick!

The pizza is absolutely amazing! We drive 1 1/2 hours from our house to get it. Tastes like "real" pizza! Celiac: no reaction

They claim to have GF pizza, but they cook it on the same surface of regular flour in the oven immediately cross contaminating it. This is unfortunate and somewhat misleading. There is always a risk of regular cross contamination but advertising a GF pizza that is slid onto the same surface as normal flour is a high source of cross contamination

Best gluten free restaurant. Pizza is exceptional and the chef and staff fully knowledgable on celiac. Thanks for great gluten free options
So educated and knowledgeable about gluten allergy, they have a dedicated fryer as well. The food is also the best I’ve had, especially the pasta and pizza!

Ciao Osteria is a jewel in Centreville. Seriously is the best pizza for hundreds of miles around. They have a delicious gluten free crust and very knowledgeable and well trained wait staff. We have been several times and feel very safe and taken care of every time. Their salads are delicious. They make any pizza gluten free for us and without cheese (my wife also has a dairy allergy), and we love it.

Best GF pizza, just like in Italy! The gf pizza crust was soft and chewy and beautifully toasted from the brick oven. The pasta was delicious too. The wonderful staff seemed very knowledgeable about the gf options and substitutions. Can’t wait to go back!

The service here is not great (the staff did more chatting with each other than serving food on time or refilling drinks) but I didn't get sick from the food. Since the pizza is not cooked on a separate surface, I ordered the gluten-free pasta.

SECOND UPDATE: I’ve learned they make their pizza with a celiac-safe flour that contains wheat starch. This means it’s not safe for people with wheat allergies.
UPDATE: I’ve eaten here many times before safely but last night I got wheated. I don’t know what it was. I can’t give you advice other than- we went an hour before closing and maybe they were less careful?

I’ve been eating gluten free for over 10 years and that was BY FAR the best pizza I’ve had since. The crust was clearly homemade and had substance. Not a cracker. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. I ordered pasta, too. Ha. It was also delicious. The service was really good too. I’m sure I will be back many more time.
Only con: the only desert is sorbet/gelato. I wish they had a cake, but I was stuffed anyway and REALLY didn’t need it. Ha.
I went they based on all the great ratings and the first thing I asked was if they cook the pizza on a separate pan. They don’t. Just the wood fired surface in the oven. I walked out. Not celiac safe

One of the best gf pizzas I’ve ever had (in 18yrs of being gf). The only other two that could compete were in nyc and Italy. The staff are very knowledgeable and there are many options beyond pizza (pasta, appetizers, salads, and other entrees). I’ve eaten here multiple times and have not gotten sick. This place is gf heaven.

This is some of THE BEST tasting gluten free pizza I have ever had. I grew up in NYC in a family of immigrants from Naples and this pizza is DELICIOUS. This is not a GF restaurant. I have celiac and have never had issues here. I drive 30+ minutes each way for this pizza and it is excellent.

I have been a celiac for 6 years now. This is the only restaurant in Virginia where I have been able to get a fresh hand tossed pizza crust. Really delicious

Amazing gf pizza. They use gf caputo flour which the Italian waiter said was not celiac safe since it has 0.0001 gluten due to the gf wheat starch. However I have had this flour at home without issue. The pizza was amazing and they know what they are doing. I am 2 hours out and usually would feel something by now if I got gluten. Best pizza I have had in the US!

Absolutely best gf pizza I have had in the DMV! No tiny pizza that tastes subpar, it’s the real deal, it looks amazing and tastes amazing. My daughter and I both have celiacs and not only had no ill effects, we were giddy with food happiness. The waiter said almost every dish could be made gf upon request. No separate gf menu but just ask. I didn’t ask about cross contamination protocol but my daughter is very sensitive and gets sick easily if there was however if this is a concern for you, I would ask. I would suggest reservations. The place was packed at 530 and without reservations we had to sit at the bar which was nice too.

I have been going to here every other week for a few months now and it has always been amazing. They have hand tossed gluten free crust. Make sure you ask for some of the dip to eat it with, and go next door for dessert if it is still open.

I love Ciao, never been cross contaminated and the food is always excellent. Best Italian food I have had since being diagnosed with Celiac.
Yes
gluten free pasta and pizza options, but a big risk for cross contamination exists, as pizzas are cooked in the same oven, on shared surfaces, alongside gluten pizzas. My friend who is a sensitive celiac has gotten sick here and her Nima tests positive for gluten in the Gluten free pizza.
No
The best homemade gluten free pizza. They offer gluten free pasta, will cook separately and willing to adjust meals where possible
Closed so don’t even bother with this one.
Best gluten free crust I've ever had. It's so fluffy and delicious. I ate here twice within 3 days while visiting family and did not get sick. We even took a pizza with us on our road trip home.
Yes
Ordered the gluten free pizza and the staff said it was celiac friendly. However, later that day, I was severely sick and it lasted for weeks. I also emailed the restaurant and never got a response.

In spite of talking with both the server and the chef, I was feeling sick even before I got out the door at this restaurant. I avoided the pizza because they said it was cooked in the same oven, on the same surface as the gluten pizzas. The chef and the manager say the gluten is killed because the oven cooks at 900 degrees. A friend of mine submitted a review on a different website, mentioning my experience. The manager contacted him and pressured him to change his review. I just don't trust this place.

They have gluten free pasta and pizza, and they can make almost any dish gluten free. Server was also on a gluten free diet, so she completely understood my needs. Food was delicious. I'm from Southern California, and this was my third time here.
Yes
The gluten free pizza is excellent. It is hand tossed unlike most other GF pizza which is thin crust. Did I mention it was excellent too?
Yes
So so good. The best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had. This is why this app is so great—never would’ve found it otherwise. We ended up coming back a few days later on our way back out of town. Even better—we met the owner and he was a pleasure! Highly recommend.
Yes
Outstanding- very knowledgeable.
Had pasta;apparently all their sauces are GF!!
Owners name is Sal- extremely nice man, who also was very knowledgeable. Told me they are going introduce GF ravioli and cannolis very soon to the menu!!
Different size pizza’s - taste like a real freaking pizza!!!!
Definitely suggest for crazy real at Home down to earth Italian!!!
Yes
First of all, this place is legit beyond words. I was lucky enough to go to Italy before I was diagnosed with celiac. This establishment nails it, and also can offer it GF. Had one of the best GF pizzas I’ve ever had...but the house made mozz w my app was delicious. Best of all, wait staff is trained and can speak to GF options, knowledgeable about celiac, and the kitchen won’t get you sick. I will be back!
Yes
omg... the best pizza i have ever had. I got asked what size I wanted... That floored me! I have celiac and I didn't get sick :)
Yes
So many amazing gluten free options-pizza and pasta! Very accommodating and delicious!
Yes
Exceptional pizza! I am on the gluten free diet and they make hands down the best gluten free pizza I've had in my life. If you carry out you can order a large size (for some reason they won't let you order the large if you dine in), which I haven't found at any other pizza joint. The pizzas are wood fired and crust is out of this world! Have been more than 10 times! Note: I always carry out as the restaurant is always crazy busy.
Yes
so the first trip was for dinner, which was amazing. I had the Manza and it was delicious. Last night we tried the pizza, I am not used to being able to get a large gluten free pizza, with no up charge for the crust. The pizza was absolutely one of THE best gluten free pizzas I have ever had and after being diagnosed with celiac 5 years ago I have had a few.
Totally recommended, very conscious of gluten allergies.
Fantastic gluten free pizza! We had to double check with the waiter that it was indeed GF. Tastes just like regular pizza.
Yes
Wow. Amazing food. Friendly service. They don't yet have a GF menu but the server will take any questions to the chef.
