I had a work dinner here and it was fabulous! I let the server know I had celiac and he responded that he would let the chef know so that there wouldn’t be any issue with cross contamination. He also let me know that they buy their tortilla chips from an outside and vendor and I shouldn’t eat them just in case. I ordered the grilled salmon and it came with green beans and quinoa with an ancho sauce. It was delicious!
The one place my son had an allergic reaction our whole trip--would NOT go back here. It was most likely not to gluten (he has many additional food allergies) but was most likely due to cross contamination in the kitchen which should give anyone pause. Also the first thing they did was serve us chips and, after all the gluten free signs all over the menu (why we chose this restaurant) they told us while they were definitely only corn they were made elsewhere and they couldn't promise the oil wasn't cross contaminated, but 'in 5 years we never had a problem.' Really annoying, if they tout themselves as so gluten friendly they should make the effort to find out or source chips that ARE definitely gluten free. They also have a lot of nut based cream sauces in their kitchen which could have been what got us; my son reacted to the 'Macho Salad' which was made gluten free by not having the farro in it...
Great food. Very careful about GF. Good selection and willing to specialize a meal. Great ambiance and service and waterfront views. Good for special occasion.
This place is amazing. The food is spectacular and so is the view. My husband and I came here to celebrate our 25th anniversary and the entire staff and especially our server went out of their way to make it feel special. They understand celiac and about cross-contamination but almost everything on the menu is gluten-free so there was not much to worry about. The chips are manufactured off-site and they could not vouch for whether there could be cross-contamination on the production equipment but I ate them and felt fine and I am very sensitive. I highly recommend the whole fried striped bass - it was outstanding.
This restaurant is a place to go for any occasion. Most certainly a celiac friendly. A lot of gf choices on the menu and staff is very accommodating to those of us with celiac diease. The food is amazing! Gotta try their gf lava cake with ice cream and chocolate drizzle. Can't beat the beautiful atmosphere and view's!!!! When in San Diego for visit or just a night out for locals, Coasterra is a for sure thing!! ENJOY!!
Menu indicates items that are gluten free. Many options and the staff is knowledgeable. The coconut flan was amazing!
