Very tasty. Nice sized GF menu. Wait staff very understanding and checked several times to be sure I was safe given multiple good allergies.

Food was safe, but I wouldn't say it was great. There was some seafood in my meat based paella which was a little disconcerting because I have a seafood intolerance much less not liking the flavor of seafood. Made me wonder about cross contamination. Service slow.
Great! So many choices of different very traditional dishes. Everything was great. The decor is really beautiful as well.
While the gluten free options were fine for my wife, my experience was not good. I ordered a filet minion and it was flavorless and came with green beans that were basically raw and a few sliced potatoes. Not worth the money for what I got. Also, I asked for a nice table and would not consider what I got to be nice. Very disappointed.
Lots to choose from on separate menu. Only had salad and appetizers but will go to one closer to home now that I know how much they have available!

Ask for GF menu. It is not alphabetized or organized by category: appetizers, main courses, desserts - just a random list without descriptions of the food items, so it's confusing to sort out. Ask for plantains instead of bread items.
I eat there regularly, never had a problem. They always go the extra mile to ensure my food is prepared in a safe manner.
Delicious as usual, plus the gluten free menu is listed on their website so you can get an idea of what options you have before going in. Though our waiter passed on gluten free info to the chef, he still brought me Cuban bread. The bar carries Daura gluten free beer!
Celiac friendly Columbia Restaurant Chef Al Johnson is Very knowledgable of gluten and food allergies so if you give him the right info and the chance he will do his best to make you a delicious meal and keep you safe too! Not everyone understands the seriousness of Celiac Disease and how harmful gluten can be for us but... he does for sure and works to educate his team. Every kitchen in every restaurant is open to risk of cc yet... he hasn't made me sick once in four years - 2013 to 2017 at our many visits to the Columbia Ybor.
They do have a GF menu with many options however the food is DISGUSTING. Tried white sangria it was ok but bitter, 2/5 stars. Shared a white asparagus salad but the asparagus had been sitting in oil so long it was itself becoming a liquid like a rotting vegetable. Lastly we had fish paella. The various types of fish was chewy, the vegetables were clearly canned and not fresh Nothing we had indicated this restaurant uses fresh vegetables Everything seemed like something premade or frozen. Very disappointing.
Good food. Separate GF menu that was horribly written. It was in no particular order. Appetizers mixed in with deserts and entrees. I had never had Spanish food before and had no idea what I could safely order until Fred our waiter came over and saw my frustration and sat down and pointed out everything on the regular menu that was safe. Delicious food but they need to update their menu.
Oh my goodness! What an amazing experience from walking into the restaurant, service, food, and ambience. We sat out side and it was so pretty. We had the chorizo stuffed mushrooms, 1905 salad, and mahi mahi varadero. Edgar was our server and was very knowledgeable.
Lots of GF options. We eat at several of their locations safely. Last time I had lunch at Ybor location, Chef prepared my meal personally, and said he had a family member w/ Celiac. I love the Columbia brand of restaurants, I always know I will get good service and a quality, safe meal. Recently we have eaten at the Ybor location in Tampa, the Sarasota location, and the location on the water over in Pinellas County. All excellent.
Absolutely fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Server and staff were knowledgeable and my two sons who are both extremely picky eaters devoured their meals. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys spanish/cuban inspired foods not only GF diners.
The Columbia has become our family's favorite when in or near Sarasota/Tampa! The St Armand's Circle location is so cozy and the staff (Wait staff & Chefs) are very knowledgable on ingredients and food prep- it makes for a great, worry free experience. Caution to the non GF diners in the family- trying to eat a loaf of their amazing Cuban loaves will get you some serious stink eye from the rest of the table! :) great tapas menu and their menu is really a great read. Also, we stock up on their 'Columbia Hot Sauce' from the gift shop so we can daydream about our next visit when we are back in Ohio. Really- it's that good. Enjoy!
They have a separate gluten and nut allergy menu that lists all foods containing gluten, and a separate section listing food that contains nuts. I ordered paella and had no issues, and my server was very knowledgeable. I would eat here again.
Not only were they accommodating, but it was the most delicious meal out I've had in a year. When everyone received bread as a starter, the waitress brought out plantain chips. The Mahi Mahi was awesome and so was the view. My only wish is that if it wasn't so loud. Portions are huge and I only ate half, which made for a great lunch the next day.
