There are two gluten-free bakery items here that I get when I need to remember how much fun eating was before developing a gluten allergy (Thanks, Covid): The lemon cloud cake is heaven. The seasonal pumpkin cloud cake with cream cheese frosting is also very good. I have NEVER had a problem with cross-contamination with these cakes.
The Co-op sells a lot of gluten-free items. I just wish there was a gluten-free grocery store where you didn’t have to look at labels or think at all because every single thing is gluten-free. (Note to self: start this grocery store.)
I have severe celiac and have never had a problem eating the co-op GF bakery items. I have only ventured to the salad bar in the mornings the moment the store opens and have been a-okay. I have spoken to a Co-op baker who explained to me they keep the GF bakery items as far away from gluten as possible. I have seen first hand how they handle the food and am quite impressed. Those Tony-o-Rama bars (also Dairy-Free) are so delicious. A perfect treat with some coffee. *I have once been sick by the coffee at this location. I stick to the Decaf or the Italian Roast. In love with the Little Northern Bakehousr GF/Vegan Bread. Not the best PB&J bread but great for grilled cheese or toast.
Great place to catch a gluten free lunch. New store with extensive selection of GF items. Deli has three soups daily--usually GF--and several salads. GF rolls available at the soup bar. Has probably the best salad bar in Bellingham! GF quick breads and muffins. Also great desserts from cakes to cookies and candies. Has a separate eating area where you bus your own tables. Coffee bar makes lattes, etc. There's also free tea in the eating area! Also has a location on No. Forest near downtown Bellingham.
