They have a gluten free menu. Or rather a menu that tells what ingredients will change or be left off from the regular menu items to make them gluten free. There is also a disclaimer on the GF menu about the cooking equipment and utensils coming into contact with gluten items.
Ordered off gluten free menu. Salmon Caesar salad. Asked 3 times to assure it’s gluten free. Came with croutons on it. Noticed after I took a bite. Ok took gluten ease and charcoal trying to save lunch with friend. They remade the salad but put the same piece of salmon on it that was on the crouton salad. So I ate none of salmon and very little of salad. Manager came by and asked why I didn’t eat anything. I explained and she said I should buy your salad. But I am telling you they did not take it serious. Not sure I would trust it again. Especially since they didn’t seem to care.
12 years ago I was traveling for a job in this area for 9 weeks. I ate at Connor's a lot.
Recently (Aug 2023) while passing through, I spent the night in this area and it hasn't changed a bit. Steaks are great, sea bass is amazing, and they have a GF menu and know what they are doing.
Back again (Aug 2024) and it's still great. Took a pic of thr GF menu.
My second visit here was far different than my first. A year ago they made me feel safe. They had a dedicated fryer, and lots of options. Tonight’s visit the server didn’t seem to take my celiac as serious as I’d like, and the GF menu options were fewer. I could have no seasoning on steak. There are a few seafood options, and one dessert.
Limited gluten free menu. The server did not have a lot of knowledge about gluten free considerations but did go and ask the kitchen the questions I asked about food, etc. I wasn’t going to order anything because I was worried about the lack of menu options and the server’s knowledge. I had the Cajun grouper, broccoli and Brussel sprouts. My stomach is a little off today. I wouldn’t go back however this is a wonderful restaurant and the staff is absolutely great. If you do not have any dietary restrictions I would recommend this restaurant.
If you’re concerned with cross contamination, this place is VERY LIMITED in their selection for a safe meal. The GF menu consisted of items like “shrimp & grits - no grits” and “all steaks - no seasoning”. I am personally not a fan of paying $34 for a steak with not even a stitch of salt on it. But even if you were ok with no seasoning, the grill is cross contaminated because of the gluten containing seasoning they put on all of their grilled items. When you eliminate grilled items off a GF menu, there isn’t much left. The “guidance” I received was disappointing to say the least. I don’t ever expect a server to know all ins and outs of a kitchen, but I do expect them to attempt to find out answers they don’t know so I could do more than eat an ice cube for dinner - even more so at a restaurant like this. I did end up with one of the *only two steamed options* the menu, lobster. It was over cooked but was gluten free so I couldn’t complain. Please also note, the manager is overseeing everything coming out of the kitchen and adjusts items on the plates for presentation without changing gloves, obviously, so this poses yet another risk of cross contamination. We won’t go into detail about the snapback I received when another server put my plate on the table and I, per my usual, verified that is was GF. It was a pretty rude and condescending response from her. Again, not really the service for which I’m paying. Overall, I would highly recommend somewhere else. There are many other places in Huntsville that are happy to accommodate. This was $200 I can’t get back for a terrible experience.
