I am very sensitive to cross-contamination and rarely eat out due to that. However, I felt completely safe eating here. My boyfriend and I both ordered gluten free so I could try everything. They brought gf bread to the table that was actually good! We got the Drunken Shrimp, Chicken Piccata and Gnocchi. All were amazing!!! A little on the pricey side but SO worth it!
Went upon recommendations from a friend w/celiac. We had a large group, only one of us required gluten-free and were highly impressed at the menu options (gluten-free and not) and knowledge of the wait staff. Highlight: my daughter w/celiac received her own gluten-free bread prior to the meal! Was very busy on a Friday night, we’d made reservations in advance.
Cooper’s Hawk is a great choice if you are looking for a little upscale feeling, without needing to present upscale. The food is not always amazing, but it’s always good. They are great with making sure food is gluten free, and prepared safely; you just have to tell them. That being said, while the kitchen staff/mangers are usually great about gf, the waiters are not always the most knowledgeable. I would suggest being extra clear with them, teaching them the process, including how they shouldn’t bring gluten bread to your table.
To put it simple, you need to eat here. Cooper’s Hawk was such a great experience for my wife and I. She has a gluten allergy, but without hesitation, this was probably the most secure we’ve felt going out to eat. The staff was extremely accommodating and our waiter, Paul K., knew the menu like the back of his hand. He spoke in detail about numerous items on the menu, making good recommendations that spoke to our palates. I ordered the pretzel crusted pork chops and I’d order them again 1000 times over. Phenomenal. The sauce tied everything together and complimented the potatoes and broccoli. What a perfect plate of food. My wife got the braised short rib risotto and they were so flavorful. Of course, it was gluten free and indicated as such on a dedicated gluten free menu. She actually had a hard time deciding because she wasn’t used to having so many options, but she’s glad with what she got. The flavor was perfect. We shared a flourless chocolate torte for dessert and we inhaled it. Delicious.
We went for our anniversary which we noted on our reservation, and the staff came through. A couple of people wished us happy anniversary and we received complimentary champagne - what a phenomenal service.
We’ll definitely be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed my meal on New Year’s Eve.,( grouper, wedge salad) . My own GF hot bread was great. Separate gf menu, Dessert options, knowledgeable wait staff. My son’s meal was really delayed and manager, Ashley, comped him soup, a drink and then the meal itself when it still wasn’t out and my husband and I were almost finished with our meals. Will definitely go back .
Outstanding! Our server, Mike Rees was very knowledgeable about gf safety. The bread was great and the meal was fantastic. Our new fine dining restaurant.
Update! We made reservations for thanksgiving because we had such a great experience. We were not disappointed. Our server, Sage, could not have been more helpful. She knew the gf offerings and was a fantastic server. As before, the food was great. This restaurant provides great food, service and a safe gf environment. Well done
Had an incredible experience with Ashley L at Coopers Hawk in Troy. I explained that I had celiac and was nervous about eating since I had gotten glutened previously from a separate restaurant the week prior (not Coopers Hawk) but she assured me she would handle all my food, and that either she or the manager would be the ones to handle my food. I got the salmon which was incredible, absolutely going back!
Huge gluten free menu. They bring out gluten free bread as a starter as well (best bread ever!) I have never had an issue eating here. The food and service is great. The waiters/waitresses even have to get allergy orders approved/signed by the manager and chef before cooking the meal to ensure less cross contamination
We decided to try Cooper’s Hawk as there is a really massive, separate gluten free menu which has so many great options. When the server offered us bread before taking our order, my husband (trying to be helpful) blurted out, “She has Celiac Disease so she can’t have bread.” The server didn’t miss a beat and said, “would you like a gluten free bun?” I was thrilled that she knew what celiac was and thankfully said yes. I imagined I’d receive a hamburger bun but it was actually a really nice, large, warmed roll. And it came out on a plate instead of the cutting board my husband’s bread came out on. I was encouraged that they must know about cross contact if they knew a cutting board wouldn’t be safe!
When I asked questions about ordering and a particular item, the server said, “i don’t think that’s actually safe because of cross contact...” but then said, “nope. Actually i thought about it more and there is no cross contact so it would be safe!”
I had an amazing meal without feeling like I missed out on anything! I’ll definitely go back!!
This is the third time I’ve been to a Cooper’s hawk and first time at this location. All have been safe! The manager did not come talk to me like at the other locations but the food tested :) with my Nima and did not make me sick! I always get the Parmesan crusted chicken and my boyfriend got the gluten-free gnocci carbonara and loved it!
