Our server was very nice and recommended several items that were GF. I wish I had caught his name but he had red-blonde hair and a beard. I had the jambalaya which was absolutely fantastic. My boyfriend who is not GF had the fried seafood platter which looked amazing and I wish I could have eaten some!
My only reason for not giving 5 stars was another server (dark haired, female) loudly bitching about people asking for GF items. I stayed quiet until she said “I call them ‘glutards’” and then I yelled “RUDE” at her. I understand they have a sarcastic sense of humor but it’s not funny to joke about something that could send a celiac like me to the hospital.
Anyway my server was great and apologized for the other woman and I gave him a good tip.
The jambalaya is not only gluten free but also made without dairy! SO good, definitely a must try in New Orleans.
This was a great late-night find in New Orleans! Thanks to the earlier reviews I knew what I could order. The staff seemed knowledgeable and I enjoyed an incident free meal of Jambalaya and Shrimp Creole! And it was so affordable which was great.
Stunning place for a bite where I didn't have to worry about nasty repercussions! Lovely lady who took my order knew exactly what I was talking about and exactly what on the menu was safe for me. To top it all off she was an absolute delight. I had the jambalaya. It was tasty and very satisfying. In fact the nicest thing I've had since arriving in the USA on July 25. Thanks Coop, you rock!
GF items are: the jambalaya, salads, shrimp creole, pork chop, lamb ribs, red beans and rice with sausage, blackened redfish, marinated crab claws etc...
My first Quarter apartment was around the block from Coops so I know the staff more than their menu. The chef is knowledgable about gluten and makes some great dishes (the jambalaya on the menu is always amazing! Pro tip: when they're slow, he'll offer some of his new dishes- most are gf and to die for!). The servers definitely know their stuff and are always as accommodating as possible, even during a rush. While I haven't had any issues, I've heard other people complain that they had gotten sick from cross-contamination. Just keep in mind that the line going around the block is there for a reason: the food is worth every minute!
There were only a few options for GF but the food that is safe was fantastic and the staff was knowledgable
We were in on Mardi Gras weekend and were told that the jambalaya isn't gluten-free, and the shrimp creole was the only dish that was. That one dish was pretty decent, though, and the service was friendly and helpful.
There's only one reason a GF individual goes here, the jambalaya. It's the best in the city and the only thing on the menu that's GF. But it's worth it. Little dive joint on Decatur. So worth it.
