This was our second time eating here. Gluten free options are provided in a separate, allergy menu. Our kid got the chicken. It came with gluten free bread, ahead of time, which our kid devoured. The food was delivered by a separate person and had an allergy marker on the plate. No sickness and the kid loved it!!
Better-rated restaurant than the experience. Some interesting items but nothing more.
Updated review May 2023: Still an amazing experience for celiac disease. Our waiter Jeff immediately asked about my allergy, knew all of the standard cross contamination procedures, brought out GF bread separately and brought out my meal separately with an allergy pick. Over 48 hours later I am not sick. It was a wonderful experience. I had the mahi mahi and it was delicious.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helped me pick something safe for me to eat (gluten free, dairy free, and no sesame). Another waiter brought out my meal with some sauce on the side that my waiter and I didn’t discuss. So, I asked my waiter and he went to the kitchen to check and the sauce was not gluten free. I took it off my plate but was still nervous about eating the food. It was fine and I didn’t get sick, but I would recommend letting your waiter know cross contamination is an issue so they may be more careful.
Best experience at a Disney restaurant ever. Our chef Wil came out and talked me through what was safe and what wasn’t and then prepared mine and my celiac sons meal himself. He even went so far as to make me a sour mix from scratch for my margarita. Our server was excellent as well!We didn’t get glutened!
There was "allergy" labels in my food, which made me feel comfortable about cross-contamination. Our server was very knowledgable and labled my gluten and dairy allergies on the ticket. He even spoke to the chef to ensure the meal off the allergy friendly menu was truly allergy friendly. I ordered the Mahi Mahi and it was delicious!!! It came with a coconut based sauce and shrimp salsa. I have not eaten out in over 2 years because of bad experiences at restaurants but I DID NOT have any reaction from Coral Reef. The server also brought out gluen free bread before our meal, which made me feel more a part of the restaurant experience. I couldn't be more thankful for the extra precautions taken to ensure I had a great experience at their restaurant.
I was very pleased with this restaurant! I have celiac disease and I’m highly sensitive. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and sent a chef out to talk to us. The food was amazing, I had the shrimp and grits. They even gave us a basket of GF bread that was delicious. I felt very safe at this restaurant and I’ll definitely be back! Don’t forget to ask about their dessert menu too!
Can’t say enough good abt our dining experience here. Just wonderful! They take everything very seriously when it comes to health issues. Mahi-mahi was very good but the best part was the dessert. It was one of those times when I needed to hide my eyes bc I was truly close to tears! Yes, the Chocolate Wave did that to me. My husband usually gets to finish my desserts as I’ve officially cut white sugar out of my diet & limit my intake. He is a very wise man & didn’t ask for any. I might’ve killed him LOL!
Yes, it was Celiac safe but the service was terrible.
The kids got gf calamari which were incredibly salty and chewy. They also ordered chicken off the kids menu and it was super dry and had excessive pepper on it, so the kids wouldn't eat it.
The only plus was that the rolls were gf and actually tasty
Absolutely amazing! The service was terrific and the food was even better. Separate fryer. They had fried calamari. A separate menu for gluten free and delicious desert.
Oh my Wow. What a fun experience! Just like most of the Disney restaurants, our chef came to our table and discussed my allergies and options. My server had already encouraged me to look beyond the allergen menu and discuss options off the regular menu so that was fun! I ordered the Calamari with Corn Succotash and Tomatillo Sauce appetizer. It was so good!! For dinner my husband and I both ordered the Shrimp and Grits dinner on the recommendation of our chef. Best decision! It was wonderful! The shrimp was perfect, the grits were incredibly fluffy. Amazing dish.He served us gluten free rolls as well, warmed, and with separate butter. My gluten sensitive daughter ordered a kids meal of salmon, rice, and green beans. it looked great but I couldn't eat another bite after my delicious dinner!
The food here was delicious. They handed out an allergy menu-common at Disney. Plenty of options for my and my six ur old son. He had chicken tenders which came with rice and broccoli and a dessert, fresh fruit or a cookie or cupcake. He opted for fruit. I had mahi mahi with jasmine rice and artichoke and lime coconut sauce. I could speak to the chef if i wanted but I said as long as it's certain to be GF I was good. Came out wth tapioca rolls and butter. All meals were marked allergy.
A perfect meal! Some wonderful options for anyone who has celiac or a gluten issue. The atmosphere here is fun for all ages. Our 2 yo loved the fish! Our 11 yo celiac daughter loved the food and getting to dine with the fish. We had the Mahi Mahi, chicken, Rainbow Trout as our entrees and the creamy lobster soup for an appetizer. Everything was wonderful including the service. For dessert, we had both the mango sorbet and the chocolate wave. The chocolate wave was perfect not dry and very moist and gooey on the inside. They brought gluten free rolls to the table before our soup. The rolls here are a little tough. The best rolls that I have had so far at Disney were at Mama Melrose. I think they were microwaving them here and that is why the were tough. But that was the only downfall of the meal so it was still a wonderful meal. I have uploaded pics of our food and the current allergy menu.
Maybe I should have known better than to try and get a GF vegetarian meal at a fish restaurant, but we have always had great luck at Disney restaurants so we didn't think it would be a problem. Sadly, it was. The chef was rude and only offered to make one dish. He seemed peeved to help us understand our options. Not what we have become accustomed to at Disney. Waiter kept trying to take our plates before we were even done. I had to put my hand over my plate twice and tell him I wasn't done yet. I won't be returning and I would NOT recommend this place if you require Vegetarian GF food.
I had a very "un-Disney-like" experience here and while it may now have improved, I have no intention of returning. I ordered chicken that was normally served with a pasta. I spoke with the Chef about my needs and despite a very long wait, it was brought to me with pasta. When I spoke with the server, he apologized and said that he would speak with the chef about a replacement but he never came out. I had to track the server down...the restaurant was busy, but I think that waiting 15 minutes was excessive, especially since my entire party was now just about finished with their meals! Very disappointing!
