So excited to find this place during our trip to London! Owner is Celiac and takes great care with preparing gluten free dishes. Almost every single item on the menu is available gluten-free so there are tons of choices. Food is fantastic!
By far one of the best gluten free pizzas I’ve tried in London. The service is great, it’s not too pricey and the pizza is homemade and coeliac- friendly. I went for the fungi and can’t wait to go back and try more options. It’s a cute traditional Italian which really resembles actual Italy. 5 stars.
June 2019 update: still our favorite! Delicious vegetable soup, pizza and pasta! Lemon sorbet is wonderful! Owner is so fun to talk to. You can tell he really enjoys making food that people with allergies can eat. This is a family owned and operated business. This was probably one of our favorite restaurants in London! The owner and his son are celiac. The owner himself helped us. We had delicious GF bread, pizza and pasta that they also made DF. Gluten free Italian food from a true Italian ... life can't get any better than this. We talked about this restaurant throughout our trip as we loved it so much. Definitely don't miss this restaurant when you're in London! We are super-sensitive and did not get sick. Highly recommend!
The owner is celiac and seems like all of the staff is Italian. The food is authentic and AMAZING, and I believe it’s all made from scratch there. Literally EVERYTHING on the menu can be made gluten free. I haven’t had a real lasagna in ages! But you can also get pizza, a ton of other kinds of pasta, risotto, etc. And I almost forgot to mention the BEST gluten free bread I’ve ever had. My sister isn’t celiac but she said that her gnocchi was the best she’s had since she was in Florence. Definitely go here!!
We were in London for vacation and stopped by Cotto’s a few minutes before 18:00. Although we didn’t have reservations, they seated our party of five quickly and gave us individualized GF recommendations. My son has Celiac and he loved the Porcini Ravioli. They brought him GF bread before the main course and he finished with GF Tiramisu. Everything was excellent and the owner came to our table several times to talk GF (he’s been diagnosed with Celiac for 30 years). I highly recommend Cotto for anyone looking for a safe GF option in London.
In 15 years of being celiac this is HANDS DOWN the best gluten free Italian meal I’ve had in restaurant. They even have gf tiramisu for dessert! The reason everything tastes so incredibly delicious is that the owner/chef has had celiac for 30 years! So be assured of a fabulous gf meal (the lasagna is the BOMB) that is safe AND delicious!!
This place is amazing and super affordable. Owner is celiac and he came to our table. I don’t remember the last time I had ravioli!! It was so good. I might go back for the tortilini. Also had gluten free dessert! I love it here, nice neighborhood too!
The owner was so incredible friendly. Made me and my gluten free friend feel so welcome. It was such a cute family-owned restaurant and was affordable. Nearly every single thing on the menu could be made gluten free. They offer gluten free bread, pizza, pasta, beer, and desserts. By far one of the best gluten free meals I have ever had. I would recommend to everyone. They do take walk-ins, but to ensure a table you might want to make a reservation ahead of time because it can get busy.
The best part of this restaurant is the owner. He is so personable! He has had Celiac for 30 years. The number of selections on the menu is great - nearly everything is GF. We really wanted to love this restaurant, but we found it to be okay — a little bland. We did come here twice in a week though because we felt safe eating here.
The gluten free items are clearly marked on the menu and most dishes can be made gluten free. The owner has a gluten allergy and so has made it a point to be very gluten friendly. Wonderful meal. We stopped on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was busy, but they brought us in immediately and were very accommodating of not only my daughter’s celiac but my wife’s wheelchair as well. We were welcomed warmly and service was excellent.
Really. Really. Good. The service was perfect, friendly, and had absolutely no issue understanding allergies (Chef has been Celiac for 30 years). Get the chocolate “cake” (gf and dairy free, too). I’ve never seen my Boy eat a dessert so fast. The gnocci was awesome.
Worst experience ever. They put bread and olives in the table without ordering them - but they charged for them. The regular bread was old and very hard. The melanzane was flat. Pizzas unavailable (because pizza cook was sick ?! -they depend on only one person ?). Spaghetti gluten free not available. Linguini gluten free not available either ! Paid with cash, change came 1 pound short. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
A thoroughly wonderful experience!!! My wife, who is not celiac, but eats GF so I can share her leftovers, ordered the ravioli, and I ordered the Lasagna. Both were fabulous! The tiramisu we shared for dessert was awesome! It was so nice to be do warmly welcomed into this little gem just a few blocks south of the London Eye
As the other reviews say, delicious!!! I couldn’t decide what to get so I got homemade gf ravioli (yep — homemade!) and pizza. I’m supposed to be casein free, but tonight I splurged (my consequences are tolerable for a short time) in order to get food I’ve gone without for so long; unfortunately there weren’t a lot of cf options... that is one are they could improve upon. The food was amazing and we would definitely go back if there were more cf options.
This is the first place I have found gluten free tortellini and ravioli. Amazing! The tiramisu is a must try as well. Ask the owner for recommendations. He's very friendly, knowledgeable, and has Celiac himself. An Italian chef with Celiac! What more could you hope for?
Awesome! The owner is celiac and is also Italian so the food is very authentic. He was very kind and was serving food to me himself once he learned I was also a celiac. They have gluten free bread and almost everything can be made gluten free. They have a separate kitchen prep area and the food was great!
Unbelievable. First time coming to London and I had no clue where to go for dinner. I used this app and saw that Cotto was just down the street from me (I was staying at H10 London Waterloo). I got the rigatoni matrigiana. Everything tastes so fresh and like it was made in house. It is a small Italian restaurant owned by a man who has been gluten free for 30 years. He is super nice and you won't regret going.
Stopped here during a trip to London because of all the great reviews. SO glad we did! Menu choices for GF were the best we've seen in a long time & the GF bread was warm & delicious!! Owner was very welcoming, friendly & told us part of the reason he started the restaurant was because of his own celiac issues. He's done the GF community a wonderful service. Very highly recommend!
I would not recomend for celiac or gluten free people. I have celiac and I was throwing up all night. I had the pizza and im not sure if that was it but something was not right there. They seemed very aware of it but it was just not a good experience for me. I was very sick.
We trusted it would be gluten free because the owner has celiac and seemed very aware. Unfortunately my daughter was throwing up with severe stomach pains about an hour after eating. One of my other kids with celiac had stomach pains. Not sure, but the GF Pizza either had gluten in it or was severely cross contaminated. Bad night!
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! The bread is delectable! Almost the ENTIRE menu is gluten free! The owner is celiac and knows all about the struggle of being gluten free. He's super friendly and the staff is extremely welcoming! Definitely recommend for anyone in London. Especially to Americans, because this gluten free bread is better than any I've ever had at home in America!
Brilliant, friendly service, the most extensive menu I've seen for gluten free italian food, the home made bread was excellent, and it's the first time in a long time that i felt i actually had choices instead of picking off a menu and having to adapt it. even got a proper pudding, not just ice cream which is the usual offering for coeliacs, i had the most amazing home made tirimisu. Totally recommend this lovely place if you are in london, owner is coeliac so totally gets it.
If there is such a thing as Celiac Heavan, then I have found it! The menu at Cotto is 95% gluten free & the best part is that the food is fresh & delicious!!! The owner is Celiac: I was greeted with a high five when I shared that I was celiac, too. Friendly, clean, wonderful, gluten free, & outstanding are a few words to describe my Cotto experience. Even if I was not gluten free, I would return & frequent Cotto! Btw, I has a pizza on perfect crust & pasta :)
Owner is celiac so they can do almost everything on the menu gf with dedicated kitchen. My husband and I split two meals. He's not gf and he still thought all the food was amazing. For me, I was in heaven. Everything was just perfection, especially the gf gnocchi. Honestly the best Italian I've had since going gf.
I went to London on a business trip and used the Find Me Gluten Free app, which directed me to Cotto. It appears the owner was there, and he is also gluten free, so we chatted a bit--nice old dude. I was brought GF bread and butter (yummy!), and got the gluten free pasta & mushrooms with cream sauce, and the coppa caramel for dessert. The pasta was really good--flavor and texture. I'd go back again.
