This review is not specific to this location by rather the chain in general. If you have Celiac disease I do not recommend cracker barrel at all. they have updated their menu and the only protein listed is an egg. If you can tolerate just a veggie plate you may be alright. The only reason I gave one star is that the review would not save with less
Since they make their biscuits and such from scratch they even state that they cannot guarantee no cross contamination. Not celiac friendly. Be careful
You have to ask for the gluten free menu from to hostess or waitress.
We've eaten there twice and both times hubby felt sick. Not horrible sick but defiantly I don't feel good need to lay down sick. The last time we went the manager came and talked to us and told us what was truly safe and what wasn't so he ordered eggs and the sweet apples. Came out with a biscuit in the eggs and when we pointed out he can't have that he's Celiac the waitress rolled her eyes and took it away and came brought new eggs but he still got sick. The only reason I didn't give this a 1 star is the manager tried to be real helpful which is always nice but we won't be going again. Meat is cooked on the same skillet as the pancakes. She did assure us the eggs are on their own surface but still....
Handy laminated allery menu for no egg, no wheat, no soy, etc. It says to notify the manager if cross contamination is a concern for you. No protein on the list (thus my 3 star rating).
Asked for a gluten free menu and was handed an allergy book. I asked the server for information on food prep and informed him I am Celiac. He said the salad was prepared separately, and if on the allergy menu, should be okay. I think there’s too much risk of cross contamination to be really celiac safe.
Their gluten free options are very very limited. It’s one little tiny page. Sucks. Go somewhere else.
They have a few gluten free items, but it’s not celiac safe. They make biscuits all day long in a shared kitchen. I’ve had a manager tell me they can not say anything is “gluten free” once it’s prepared.
Like all Cracker Barrels, there is not a GF menu, but an allergen menu. Check out the wheat free options, and avoid things cooled on the common cooktop. Eggs, baked potato, sweet potato, corn, carrots always safe for me.
If you just order a plain hash brown (make sure that you say “Can I get hash browns please, but make sure it’s not the casserole,”), bacon, and a fruit bowl it will give you just that. Not very knowledgeable on GF foods, but otherwise, great!!!
First of all they messed up my whole family’s order. We all the got the wrong food. Second of all, after specifically saying i had a gluten allergy and that no bread or wheat product can touch my food or plate, they came out with a piece of bread on my plate! And then they tried to just take it off and give me the same meal. After i had them make me new food, the waitress and even manager had the worst attitude with me and my family. It was the worst experience and made me never want to go back. If you’re celiac i would avoid this place
Was very unhappy my mother in law passed away and the hole family was going to diner here the website said they had a gf menu but they don’t the chicken is cooked on same grill as pancakes so not safe at all!!! I got a plain baked potato only thing I could eat on menu and it was hard and paid 4 for it!!!!
The first thing they did was send over their manager to give me a menu. It had a section for each of the 8 major allergens and he items that are free/ can be prepared free of them.I had the Chef Country Salad (sans the croutons and ham pieces) with Honey Mustard and it was AMAZING.I have celiac, and I was worried to go here because I hadn't been to one since years before I was diagnosed. I never got sick from the salad either. I was impressed. It could be possible that this isn't a celiac friendly place, but it is definitely wheat intolerance friendly based on what I saw from the menu.
The staff was super knowledgeable, and our waitress even offered to bring the manager over to speak to me. They don’t have any gluten free breads but there is still plenty to choose from. When you place your name for a table simply ask to see the allergy menu. I ended up getting a salad with Caesar dressing and our waitress opened a new bottle of dressing and cut fresh ingredients instead of taking them from the open bins and prepared my food in a separate section of the kitchen. She took extra care to put me at ease and even brought my food out while still wearing her gloves! Over all it was a great meal and I feel comfortable eating here again.
Disappointed in new menu. For lunch or dinner there is no GF option. It deals overall in side dishes. No protein. Manager was helpful and oversaw fish grilling - no seasoning. All went well this time. Old menu had a fish option I always chose and had no issues. Yes they are concerned about safety but have taken it to the point that it is impossible to have a meal from their new menu. Need to rethink! Why can other restaurants without a separate kitchen, and who are concerned about safety, provide GF meal options and CB cannot.
You can order your steak, and ask for it to be cooked in aluminum foil and served to you that way and you can feel safe your not getting cc. And it’s very tender and moist. Also ask for spicy grilled catfish, grilled chicken tenderloins and pork chops to be cooked that way. The manager is very helpful in trying to assure your food is not cc.
The staff here is amazing. we explained what we needed, they gave us the gluten free menu, made sure we understood that there were gluten items in the kitchen and let us know that they were cleaning the grill before they cooked my daughters food. We appreciate their efforts!
This is a great breakfast, lunch and dinner place. They do not have specific gluten free menu but anything that is NOT fried has not been a problem. Just ask for grilled. I am very sensitive and so is my brother and neither of us has been sick. We were in town for a military graduation and were very limited on where we were able to eat one of two places. Thank you cracker barrel!
Staff was exceptional. They do have a very limited gluten free menu but our waiter was very helpful and provided it right away. It’s mostly limited to vegetables and potatoes and fruit. I had eggs and grits and fried apples with turkey sausage. It has caused no problems. I would say for breakfast it’s fairly easy to eat GF. Beyond that you are in for a lot of veggies. Wish they had GF bread.
The GF breakfast menu was pitiful. No breakfast meats or potatoes were indicated, let alone GF bread products. The waitress had an attitude when asked about GF options. They could easily do much better, but clearly don't Definitely won't be getting any business from my family. We ended up leaving and gong to the Waffle House down the road and the gladly accommodated my needs.
