“Buyer Beware”
Today was my daughter’s class Christmas party at school. I volunteered to pick up GF pizza from Crust in Panther Creek for the two celiac girls in the class. The pizza wasn’t ready on time when I called well in advance. While waiting for the pizza to come out of the oven, I watched an employee go directly from handling croutons and refilling a crouton container to grabbing my pizza, a tray and different colored pizza cutter from a shelf up above (like it was special for the GF pizzas) to process it and place it in a box.
My anxiety level shot through the roof.
After pointing out the problem, the manager offered to just refund my money, but I explained that I now had the dilemma of not having a GF pizza for the kids to eat at their party. I sat there in tears as he refunded my money and made a new pizza for the kids.
When handing me the pizza, the manager apologized and said it wouldn’t happen again, but honestly, I’m not sure that I can trust that statement given what I witnessed - especially at 2:00 pm when the restaurant wasn’t remotely busy. 😢 I know that it’s always a gamble when we eat out and recognize that humans will make mistakes, but I’m disappointed that the one pizza place I thought I could count on is likely no longer an option for our family.
