Came her while in town, based on reading the previous reviews. It was fantastic! I had the GF veal parm, a real treat. My non-celiac group shared the GF fried calamari and mozzarella wedges and all were very satisfied. All meals were great and the portions were generous. I will be back in town periodically and this be a regular stop!!
Amazing dinner. Delicious GFmozzarella wedges, chicken parm, and cream puffs! Very knowledgeable and careful.
BEST GF RESTAURANT OF ALL TIME!!! They have a completely separate gf kitchen and can make everything on the regular menu gf! It’s amazing and the food is downright outstanding!
The best chicken parm I’ve ever eaten! Before seating you they ask if anyone needs the gluten free menu. This menu has a large selection of options. I’ve eaten there 5 or 6 times, trying different items every time. I’ve never been disappointed and have never had any issues with my celiac disease.
Delicious! They have a separate gluten free menu. Portions were huge! Wish I lived closer!!
We are from out of town, but my Aunt told me about this place. We made extra time to eat here before our flight home. I am SO glad we did. Myself and my 2 younger boys are extremely sensitive to gluten. I do not believe I have ever been to a restaurant that had 2 kitchens. One for gluten free and one regular. That is amazing!! My kids finally got to try fried mozzarella and it was delicious. I had the lasagna and it was huge and really tasty. The creamy garlic dressing was amazing, as was the bruschetta and garlic bread. But oh my goodness, the cannoli was probably my favorite, although it was hard to choose. I already want to come back to Chicago to eat here again!! Oh and I guess to see my family too, lol! Do yourself a favor and go!!
Owner has a family with celiacs and handle food with extreme care. Been several times and love the food and staff!
This place is awesome for a gluten free diet. Bread is amazing and what a selection!!! Friendly and authentic Italian. A must for anyone gluten free.
I wish I lived in Chicago! Looked at the reviews here and the story and knew I had to give it a try while I was visiting. And it did not disappoint. Went here so far 3 out of all the 3 nights I've been here, with one more night to go :( The pasta tastes like actual pasta, the chicken parm is magnificent and the vodka sauce is to die for. And the menu is identical to the regular gluten menu, so options are through the roof. In addition the wait staff is very knowledgable and friendly. It's only been three days, but they make me feel like I've been going here for years. Most importantly, I have not felt sick at all, the night of, morning after or days after. And to top it all off, co-workers who wouldn't even think to eat gluten free have an entire menu of their own [full of gluten] and they have loved all of their dishes as well.
Excellent gf pasta, salad and cannoli. The cannoli was phenomenal!! Very extensive menu they have 4 people in their family with celiac disease great meal!
Separate gluten free menu is prepared in a separate, gluten free kitchen. The safest place to eat, the best GF Italian dishes, too. GF fried calamari is a welcome treat. Also, there are frozen GF pasta meals to take home and stock up for convenient eating at home.
This place is amazing and VERY knowledgeable. The owner’s kids have celiacs and she’s created all the recipes. We had calamari, fried mozzarella, bread, and lasagna. I’m tempted to fly back just to eat here.
Great place, I actually feel safe eating here and so nice not to worry. They have a seperate kitchen for GF and we get a whole lot of choices on our menu. Food is really good too.
This was an unbelievable meal! The choices were amazing! I had their fried calamari, Pizza bread, minestrone soup, cheese ravioli, and cannoli-ALL GF! I will definitely be back! They have a huge gf menu because 4 out of 6 of their siblings was diagnosed with celiac! I wanted one of everything.
Wow. All I can say is wow. Had the gluten free Manicotti, and the person I went with had the gluten free Penne Alla Toscana. I italian wedding soup as an appetizer, and then the tiramisu for dessert as well. Everything was so incredibly delicious. Also extremely large portion sizes for cheap!! In total, for 1 italian wedding soup, 1 GF manicotti, 1 GF penne alla toscana, and 1 GF tiramisu, was only $40. Went home full, happy, and without a huge dent in my wallet!!
They have a wide variety of food and there food is amazing ! I love their gluten free fried calamari, mozzarella wedges, and chicken parmesan. My favorite gluten free restaurant by far!
Holy cow, this place is awesome! As other reviews state, the variety is outstanding, the staff is friendly and knowledgable. If you're in the area, it is well worth the trip. I will be back!
Best selection of gluten free items! GF mozzarella sticks were amazing, even my teenage boys who are not Celiac loved them. Had a pasta dish that was to die for. Separate oven for the pizza- they really get it here. Will definitely go back and try everything! So thankful to have found this place- worth the 30 minute drive!
call ahead for reservations!!! smelled delicious! couldnt eat it! no room for us!
The owners are so nice and their kids all have Celiac. This place has to die for manicotti and lasagna and fabulous wine selection. I ate and drank so much I got tipsy and left my food container there but the little old lady/owner came after me own the street to make sure I had my food! Also, the owners come by the tables themselves to see that everything is good.
I absolutely love this place! The food was fantastic and the staff was so kind and knowledgeable.
This place was great. I felt completely safe eating here as a Celiac. Other diners at table were pleased with their regular food as well. so grateful for places like this.
I was in the area for work & tried this place on a whim! Wide variety of gluten free items including dessert!!!! YES!! Ordered garlic bread, cheese manicotti and meatballs on the side. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. Had a cannoli for dessert- amazing. I will definitely go back. Also featured homemade refrigerated gluten free items to take home & cook!
This has to be the best Italian food I've ever had, including before I knew I had celiac disease! The service is amazing as well, and they pay great attention to gluten free customers. So many options including frozen to go and homemade pasta to bring home and cook! I make sure to come here every single time I'm in the area.
While I don't think I've ever been glutened here, I have gotten an upset stomach from their food. It's always very oily, it's like you get oil soup with anything you order. 🤒 Also the service is terrible, they are nice people but EXTREMELY SLOW. Whether there are 3 tables or the place is pack the service is SLOW!!! Gluten free but oily and slow!
Dedicated gf kitchen! Some of their family members have Celiac so they reworked their menu to include a huge gf menu. Authentic Italian - can't say enough good things!!!
Best gluten free food around. They are very strict with the gluten free, they have 2 different kitchens. Amazing Italian food.
love this place!! huge gf menu, I've eaten here several times and have never gotten sick.
So good! Sometimes it will make things not on the menu ask.
The best gluten free food I have had...ever! Service was also excellent! I had fried calamari, eggplant parmesan, and tiramisu! I was in heaven! I highly recommend it!!
Amazing. Such a treat when I get to go there! 100% safe and 100% yummy!
The best gluten free pasta I have ever had, hands down! Plus how can you go wrong with a separate kitchen?!
Very celiac friendly. We had just flew into O'Hare from Lima, Peru. However I neglected to check their hours and we arrived way ahead of their normal opening time. My wife explains that we had little to no food for the last 12 hours. the owners decided to make an exception and allowed us to sit down and order. I was the only one of our group that is celiac and I have never had as good of service nor food anywhere else. They made it a point to tell me what was safe and not safe. Next time we are in the Chicago area I will make a point to come and visit them again.
One of the only places as a celiac I feel safe dining. They have a whole separate kitchen!
loved the bread. knowledgeable staff. very friendly.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Knowledgeable staff. Need I say more. I ordered the pasta tuscany. It was a taste explosion. The house salad with creamy garlic dressing was also very good.
A hidden gem tucked away in the Chicago suburbs. Separate kitchen for gf items so you don't have to worry about cross contamination. The eggplant parmesan is outstanding and a must try. Amazing food and service. Great wine list too. Owners always come to the table to check on your experience. Love this place!
This is our new favorite gluten-free Italian restaurant! Da Luciano's has the largest selection of gluten-free pastas and other foods like eggplant parmesan that I've ever seen offered in an Italian restaurant! Even the meatballs and braciole are made with gluten-free bread crumbs! The homemade gluten-free garlic bread was delicious! They even have awesome gluten-free cannoli's and other desserts!
Delicious food, separate kitchen. Never ever became ill from eating here. So yummy!
FANTASTIC!! they have a terrific selection of gluten free Italian dishes. the pasta alfredo was amazing! I cannot wait to go back for more! a decent sized portion of food and very good waitstaff. I cannot stress enough what a great experience this was.
To die for. That's pretty much all I can say. Have the ravioli or the creamy Alfredo sauce sun dried tomato dish. Their garlic bread is amazing as well. Definitely a restaurant staple to know for a wonderful Italian meal!!
My grandfather passed away almost a year ago. I am coming to Chicago next week and we are going to eat here as a family because it made him so happy to see that I could eat anything I wanted to. You guys are amazing.
We arrived in the peak of dinner time without reservations and were clearly underdressed in shorts and t-shirts. The hostess very graciously asked if we would like to sit on the patio. Which was perfect since we felt a bad about not dressing better. The GF bread is the best I have ever had and they were VERY accommodating with several GF pasta options. Pleasant staff. Quite good food, especially the Gf bread and Tiramisu Fabulous atmosphere. We will return.
Such a great place! So many gluten free options! If you've been missing fried calamari, tiramisu, or cannolis...they have it all and more! And they're so friendly and welcoming!
Amazing menu selection for anyone with celiac disease. Delicious pastas and bread.
HUGE gf menu, very knowledgeable and delicious. Highly recommended.
The review I just read on TripAdvisor was not very favorable, so it made me want to write this review. Our meal was awesome and we have had authentic Italian in other areas of the world. The salad was packed full of cucumbers, tomato's and shredded carrots. We had one the house dressing and one with the creamy garlic. The creamy garlic dressing is definitely my favorite. We always make sure we go to DaLuciano when we can. Since it's about a 4 hour drive, when we visit Chicago, we make time for a great gluten free meal or two at Da Luciano. The last time we were there the owners were so friendly and paid special attention to our child. A couple the boys (with Celiac) also had come out to talk to him. This time the server was incredibly attentive and friendly. We were there a couple times, so it may sound like we over ordered (which we did), and we had great left overs to cart back home with us. I just finished eating one of the meals for lunch today! For appetizers we ordered: Grigliata di Pesce - This is a large plate with octopus, squid and grilled shrimp over a bed of spinach and roasted red/green peppers. The peppers and spinach were seasoned to perfection and the grilled shrimp was awesome. Wish there would have been more shrimp on the appetizer. The squid and octopus were okay. Fried Mozzarella Wedges - I have tried on several occasions to make fried cheese wedges (gluten free), but have failed miserably. These were crunchy, tasty and served with a marinara sauce. We ordered: Pasta Boscaiola - Sausage and mushrooms in a light tomato cream sauce - This dish was one of our new favorites. It was so good. The light tomato cream sauce was amazing! Pasta Porcini - Porcini mushrooms in a light cream sauce - Another very good meal for sure and lots of left overs! Chicken Vesuvio - with versuvio potato's. The oil/veggies and seasoning on this meal was wonderful. Meat Ravioli - Again the ravioli was stuffed very full and I could not eat all my meal for sure! Pepperoni and cheese pizza - Our son likes their pizza a lot. Wish we could get a deep dish pizza that was gluten free. For dessert over the couple of days we had: Cannoli's - that were awesome Lemon Ice that is perfect for cleaning the palate and soothing the stomach Tiramisu - If you aren't a chocolate fan you may not prefer this, but I like the cake portion and the cream portion. Cupcakes Ok any time you can go to a restaurant and actually order appetizers, entree's and desserts that are gluten free, it's a good day and that's why we try to go to Da Luciano any time we are any where near Chicago. Thanks for another great visit!!!! We'll see you again in a few months (well after winter any way).
Best gluten free restaurant I will probably ever go to!! Amazing! You can buy food frozen for later, too!
Excellent food, very friendly! Highly recommend
One word, lasagna! I never thought I'd get AND enjoy lasagna again. They have a huge GF menu, not just a couple items added onto their menu. And the prices were quite reasonable too. We'll be back to try everything on the menu. And the staff was friendly too.
