BEST GF RESTAURANT OF ALL TIME!!! They have a completely separate gf kitchen (so 100% celiac safe) and they can make everything on the regular menu gf! It’s amazing and the food is downright outstanding! I love their fried calamari, mozzarella wedges, and ravioli in particular!!!
This place is BEYOND amazing.... it’s been forever since I’ve been able to enjoy gluten free Italian food.. and being Italian, I was blown away by all their options! They also prepare everything in a separate kitchen, and the owners 4 kids have celiac disease so everything can be made gluten free.... ❤️❤️❤️❤️ —
Incredible, delicious GF food. I had things I haven't had in years in a restaurant (fried mozzarella, veal parmigiana) and my son got to experience these foods for the first time. His GF lasagna was to die for and my veal melted in my mouth. Staff was incredible and so nice. Worth the ride from downtown to go. Cream puffs for dessert were so yummy.
Da Luciano has the most amazing set up: 2 kitchens (1 gluten free and 1 gluten full). Their menu is expansive and they even have frozen items you can take home. They run a gluten free kitchen because 4 of their 7 children were diagnosed with celiac disease. The best part is that you can eat gluten free while your family and friends eat gluten full.
I am in LOVE with this place. One of the best Italian meals we’ve had, and would never have guessed it was GF. My daughters have Celiac Disease, had no issues here, and were completely stuffed when we left. They even gave us a sample of soup for our first visit! Amazing restaurant. And took home some freshly baked cookies and frozen treats!
My waiter was extremely knowledgeable- all I had to say was “I have Celiacs Disease” and he was extremely accommodating and I could tell he was very familiar. This is owned by a family of Celiacs! The waiter was able to tell me the bread on the table was not safe for me to eat but offered to bring out gluten free bread for me. The menu is EXPANSIVE for people who are gluten free. The biggest selection I’ve ever seen. I got the homemade gluten free manicotti. It. Was. INCREDIBLE. I do not live in Chicago and I think this is one of those meals I will dream about! I truly forgot I have Celiacs here and didn’t feel like I was missing out one bit- I wanted to lick my plate. They also have many gluten free desserts, including gluten free CANNOLI!! I’ve not had cannoli since before o was diagnosed and I swear I wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference between gluten free and not. I felt very safe here and next time I visit Chicago I will make sure I stop here!!
My celiac husband was in town for Ace Comic Con and I suggested this restaurant. He said the gf menu was large. He enjoyed his chicken parm. He also had a Red Bridge beer. He wants to travel back to Chicago so he can eat here again. Wish we had a place like this by us.
This place is great. Huge gluten free menu with tons of options and the food is delicious. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. I always leave with extra frozen gluten free food which they offer for sale. The food is also reasonably priced for a restaurant of its caliber. Have been there twice now and will be back soon. I can’t say enough good things about this place.
I can’t even handle how much I loved this place. I was driving through the area at rush hour and it took me an extra hour to get here... and it was TOTALLY WORTH IT. I ordered over the phone the manicotti & cream puffs. When I got there, I saw they had a gluten free freezer with meals & desserts to go! I grabbed the tiramisu. I haven’t had my favorite Italian dish, manicotti, in YEARS. It was amazing, everything was amazing. So good and I will definitely be driving here anytime I fly O’Hare.
Very celiac friendly! I'm in town on business from California. And I only have a gluten intolerance. Had the caprese, bread and olive oil, veal parmesan with pasta, and iced tea for dinner. Everything was excellent! Normally, you have to compromise somewhat on flavor to stay gluten free. But everything I had was exceptional. Good sized portions. Hot to the table. Just good ol' home cookin'. Then I took it a step further and had the cannoli with a cup of coffee. I grew up on great cannolis on Long Island, New York. These cannolis were really very good. A real treat. Even the coffee and iced tea were great. Bravo Da Luciano! Can't say enough.
Had the chicken parm and it was incredible. They have a separate kitchen for GF prep, so I felt incredibly safe eating here. It’s my family’s go-to for special occasions because we are always guaranteed excellent and safe food for everyone. Love it!!
Came her while in town, based on reading the previous reviews. It was fantastic! I had the GF veal parm, a real treat. My non-celiac group shared the GF fried calamari and mozzarella wedges and all were very satisfied. All meals were great and the portions were generous. I will be back in town periodically and this be a regular stop!!
The best chicken parm I’ve ever eaten! Before seating you they ask if anyone needs the gluten free menu. This menu has a large selection of options. I’ve eaten there 5 or 6 times, trying different items every time. I’ve never been disappointed and have never had any issues with my celiac disease.
We are from out of town, but my Aunt told me about this place. We made extra time to eat here before our flight home. I am SO glad we did. Myself and my 2 younger boys are extremely sensitive to gluten. I do not believe I have ever been to a restaurant that had 2 kitchens. One for gluten free and one regular. That is amazing!! My kids finally got to try fried mozzarella and it was delicious. I had the lasagna and it was huge and really tasty. The creamy garlic dressing was amazing, as was the bruschetta and garlic bread. But oh my goodness, the cannoli was probably my favorite, although it was hard to choose. I already want to come back to Chicago to eat here again!! Oh and I guess to see my family too, lol! Do yourself a favor and go!!
I wish I lived in Chicago! Looked at the reviews here and the story and knew I had to give it a try while I was visiting. And it did not disappoint. Went here so far 3 out of all the 3 nights I've been here, with one more night to go :( The pasta tastes like actual pasta, the chicken parm is magnificent and the vodka sauce is to die for. And the menu is identical to the regular gluten menu, so options are through the roof. In addition the wait staff is very knowledgable and friendly. It's only been three days, but they make me feel like I've been going here for years. Most importantly, I have not felt sick at all, the night of, morning after or days after. And to top it all off, co-workers who wouldn't even think to eat gluten free have an entire menu of their own [full of gluten] and they have loved all of their dishes as well.
Separate gluten free menu is prepared in a separate, gluten free kitchen. The safest place to eat, the best GF Italian dishes, too. GF fried calamari is a welcome treat. Also, there are frozen GF pasta meals to take home and stock up for convenient eating at home.
This was an unbelievable meal! The choices were amazing! I had their fried calamari, Pizza bread, minestrone soup, cheese ravioli, and cannoli-ALL GF! I will definitely be back! They have a huge gf menu because 4 out of 6 of their siblings was diagnosed with celiac! I wanted one of everything.
Wow. All I can say is wow. Had the gluten free Manicotti, and the person I went with had the gluten free Penne Alla Toscana. I italian wedding soup as an appetizer, and then the tiramisu for dessert as well. Everything was so incredibly delicious. Also extremely large portion sizes for cheap!! In total, for 1 italian wedding soup, 1 GF manicotti, 1 GF penne alla toscana, and 1 GF tiramisu, was only $40. Went home full, happy, and without a huge dent in my wallet!!
Best selection of gluten free items! GF mozzarella sticks were amazing, even my teenage boys who are not Celiac loved them. Had a pasta dish that was to die for. Separate oven for the pizza- they really get it here. Will definitely go back and try everything! So thankful to have found this place- worth the 30 minute drive!
The owners are so nice and their kids all have Celiac. This place has to die for manicotti and lasagna and fabulous wine selection. I ate and drank so much I got tipsy and left my food container there but the little old lady/owner came after me own the street to make sure I had my food! Also, the owners come by the tables themselves to see that everything is good.
I was in the area for work & tried this place on a whim! Wide variety of gluten free items including dessert!!!! YES!! Ordered garlic bread, cheese manicotti and meatballs on the side. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. Had a cannoli for dessert- amazing. I will definitely go back. Also featured homemade refrigerated gluten free items to take home & cook!
This has to be the best Italian food I've ever had, including before I knew I had celiac disease! The service is amazing as well, and they pay great attention to gluten free customers. So many options including frozen to go and homemade pasta to bring home and cook! I make sure to come here every single time I'm in the area.
While I don't think I've ever been glutened here, I have gotten an upset stomach from their food. It's always very oily, it's like you get oil soup with anything you order. 🤒 Also the service is terrible, they are nice people but EXTREMELY SLOW. Whether there are 3 tables or the place is pack the service is SLOW!!! Gluten free but oily and slow!
Very celiac friendly. We had just flew into O'Hare from Lima, Peru. However I neglected to check their hours and we arrived way ahead of their normal opening time. My wife explains that we had little to no food for the last 12 hours. the owners decided to make an exception and allowed us to sit down and order. I was the only one of our group that is celiac and I have never had as good of service nor food anywhere else. They made it a point to tell me what was safe and not safe. Next time we are in the Chicago area I will make a point to come and visit them again.
