My child is Celiac so I called this restaurant based on reviews here. I was told they have discontinued their GF pastas and buns. I asked if they had any GF options and was told they could make me a salad. When I said it was for a kid, he said, “Honestly, I hate to steer you away, but…”
Appreciated his honesty and knowledge!
I went here for green chili based on previous review to learn it is definitely not gluten free. They were able to make a salad of romaine, tomatoes and cucumbers for me, and I opted out of adding chicken just out of uncertainty with cross contamination. Staff did try to be helpful, they just weren't sure about a lot. That said my gluten eating partner loved the green chili stew and green chili lasagna he got.
I have celiac disease and this is one of my top places to eat in Las Cruces. Great atmosphere. Server's are very knowledgeable regarding gluten free options. I always get the green chili stew bowl, side salad with cinnamon pecans and green chili ranch. I also get their lava burger without the buns (they do offer gf buns) and a baked potato. Delicious!!
They have GF buns & GF pasta. When I called to ask about GF the hostess immediately had me talk to the manager. He was very knowledgeable. We ordered 2 “Lava Burgers” on GF buns. It’s a green Chile cheese burger & was tasty. The fries are not GF, but most of the other sides are. We had grilled asparagus instead of fries with our burger. Nobvious reaction and it was a nice break from Mexican. The only GF “beer” they had was an Ace Pineapple Cider though. We got it to go and the manager handed us our order at the drive up window.
No gluten free menu, but most items on the menu can be made gluten free. The cook himself came out to talk to me about the options.
Food was very tasty and would go again.
No gluten free beer. Waiter was very distracted.
Out of gf buns, pasta came out almost uncooked and was not edible. Husbands fries were cold. Freezing restaurant! Nothing to recommend
Great food, service was pretty good. Chef came to the table after mix up with our DF ask. All in all, staff was sort if knowledgeable about GF, but the food made up for it.
I've been going to De La Vega's for the Pecan Ale for years, but now that I can't have gluten anymore, its much less a draw. They do have gluten free marked on the menu, but I had to remind the server about the gluten free bread. The server was generally confused about what sides were substituted on plates, and on top of that, was pretty rude. There are plenty more GF friendly places in Las Cruces than here, but it is entirely possible to get a gluten free meal here without getting sick.
this place is awesome! gf menu is the regular menu!!! many choices. food fantastic! even have gf beer ( red bridge). we had a fantastic evening.66
The food was excellent. The servers had to be reminded about the gluten-free bread option. It was great to have a dessert that is gluten-free.
Wonderful GF dining experience! So many great gf options. For non gluten free diners my husband say the food is great and that the house brewed pecan beer is like a pecan cream soda.
