Head Chef has Celiac Disease and everything with an asterisk on their menu on Facebook can be made Gluten Free <3 first time in I don’t know when that I was able to order garlic bread and chicken parm. So happy I stumbled upon this place! Will be back weekly!
A huge percentage of the menu can be made gf, including pasta, mozzarella sticks, garlic bread, french fries and chicken fingers. We have never seen such a large gf menu (which they will post on their new website soon). The head chef has Celiac disease and type one diabetes. It is not a fancy place, but we will definitely stop here again when driving through the area.
What a delicious meal! I saw all the other good reviews and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. I had a really good gf bacon cheeseburger and gf fries. One of the folks i came with had baked haddock which she described as moist and well seasoned. The other had the tuscan chicken which was flavorful and perfectly balanced. The side portions were very generous and very tasty. We had the broccoli, corn, mashed potato, and fries. It was all very good! We'd definitely go back.
Diane's Villa Nova is such a great family restaurant! They have a dedicated fryer and take special care with their food! My daughter is severe anaph to gluten, but love coming here because she has so many choices! The family that owns/runs it is also a amazing!!!
We stopped here for lunch on our way to Boston. I was very happy with so many GF choices on the menu. I had chicken stir fry. It was delicious! My husband and son are not GF, and they enjoyed their sandwiches. It was a really beautiful day, so we sat on the shaded deck outside. I met the owner. She is lovely. I wish we lived closer!!
SO GOOD! Head chef is celiac so you know you are safe. Tons of choices. I had an order of onion rings (!!!) and a tuna grinder on a bulky roll. I also took some chocolate cake for the road. The service was great and I was told they will be serving GF lasagna next week!
I've never had any issues after eating here and am extremely sensitive. In a world of cross contamination, meager (mostly salad) menu offerings, and clueless staff, this place is a godsend. The folks are kind, knowledgeable, and there are many choices you just haven't had since you found out you could not eat gluten. They have lots of drink options (including an amazing GF hard root beer I've never seen elsewhere) and even desserts. They clearly mark what's GF and I trust them because the chef has Celiac disease and knows the deal. You can have all the pastas and fried things. Even my SO (who has no issues with gluten) orders GF here because its just that good. Also...shh, but the prices are wayy reasonable. Drive on over! Don't worry if it seems like you're in the middle of nowhere- you are :) It's worth the drive. I have a feeling if these guys opened up in a bigger town they'd make a killing! :)
Find Me Gluten Free showed this location as nearby when we went to the Sturbridge movie theater. So glad we went. GF Macaroni and Cheese was a treat. Karen loved her Philly Steak sandwich. We'll definitely go back - and Karen will challenge someone in cribbage. Most of the menu can be cooked gluten free. Family run place in the middle of nowhere, but the head cook is Celiac and understands about cooking for allergies.
Came all the way from Worcester MA. Didn’t know what to expect but wow was I impressed. The food was some of the best GF meals I have ever had. So many different choices as well. The owner Diane sat and talked with us and wow is she one the nicest, most personable business owners I’ve ever met. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could. Will be returning frequently, definitely worth the drive from Worcester.
Went here when it was pretty quiet and Diane talked with us the whole time. Her son, one of the chefs, has celiac himself. They understand and can appreciate the difficulties of eating out. She said she would answer any questions and wanted to make sure that my mom and I (we both have celiacs) were comfortable. They have a separate fryer (also soy free) and most items can be made gf (marked with an * on the menu). Items like meatloaf, meatballs, and lasagna are still not available gf, but she mentioned she doesn't make them gf because she hasn't found the right quality gf ingredients and won't serve anything she doesn't approve of. I had the fried mozzarella, house salad (which was fresh leafy greens not just iceberg) with Dijon ranch, and the chicken Parmesan. The spaghetti sauce was a little peppery for my taste, but i am in no way saying that it was bad. The portion was huge, I had plenty to eat and still took half home. The chicken was breaded and crispy golden brown. If anyone is interested, she posts her weekly specials on their Facebook page. Will definitely return to try something else on the menu!!
Family owned business that provides a vast assortment of tasty gluten free options. From pizza, to grinders, to fish and chips, to onion rings you can find plenty of options to satisfy what your stomach is craving. Worth stopping by, if you are in the area.
I discovered this restaurant a few years ago and have become a regular customer. It is family own and they make you feel like family when eating there. Diane will always come over to greet us and let me know what items on the special board are GF. There are also many GF options on their regular menu. I have never been disappointed with my meals. Last night I had the stuffed cabbage that was excellent! There is always a home made GF dessert which is a special treat. This is a restaurant diffently worth checking out.
My family and I stopped here on our way back to CT after a day trip to Sturbridge and I'm so glad that we did!! The food was fantastic and such friendly service. Diane was so nice to talk to and even gave my boys a tour of the kitchen. You will not be disappointed here!!
Great Italian food. Owners are on site and extremely friendly and attentive. So obvious they take pride in their food and serving people. Definitely will be going back. So easy to get to on our trip from Boston to CT. Chef is celiac so they know what they are doing. I had GF eggplant park and would recommend it, although I can't wait to try many other items.
Excellent service! Huge Italian American gluten free menu. One of the chefs is GF so they cater very well. Diane let my kids back into the kitchen and let them help serve dessert. Family owned, food was delicious, great portions. I would recommend this place highly!
Where can you find the food you used to love to eat? At Diane's Villa Nova! I haven't had fish and chips in years and it was a feast to finally be able to taste it again. Their shepherd's pie is to die for and it is GF. Egg Plant Parmigiana, yummmm. Here is a family owned restaurant that tr eats you like family and goes to any extreme to make sure you are satisfied. Finally a place where my son and I (Celiacs) can eat all together with the rest of the family who do not have to be gluten free.
Absolutely delicious! The chief has celiac disease and has completely converted the kitchen to allow gluten free meals. They have all the comfort foods you can think of and may have missed since going gluten free. He is very educated and friendly! The family welcomed us with open arms and gave us hugs when we left. We will be going back very soon.
I am the chef at Diane's Villa Nova, I have also suffered from celiac disease for 2 1/2 years. We have a very extensive gluten free menu, which includes, beer battered fish and chips, pizza, pasta, eggplant parm, chicken parm. Family owned and operated with a family atmosphere. Bring your appetite, you will not leave here hungry. Gluten free beer and ciders available.
