I went there and was told by 3 different workers that it was not safe to eat there due to cross contamination. The manager came over and assured us it was fine. Against by better judgement we sat. I looked at the menu and spoke to the server who also said he didn’t think it was celiac safe and that the only thing I could possibly get would be grilled chicken no bun. They also did not have crème brûlée cheesecake like another review suggested and the waiter said the only dessert was key lie pie which was not gf. After speaking to the waiter about safety one of the other people that cautioned me came over again. I ended up leaving before ordering because of 4 workers tell me it’s unsafe, I tend to believe them. We went over to doc fords next door and had a great meal on the water.
Wonderful experience. Sit outside and watch the boats and dine on delicious gluten-free options from their Gluten free menu. I had a chicken taco salad… With all fresh ingredients and my husband and I shared a unique and delicious crème brûlée CHEESECAKE with raspberry sauce.
I can’t say enough nice things. The server, Rob, was super knowledgeable. Explained that the cornmeal batter has no wheat flour in it but would go into a cross contaminated fryer. So I knew not to go for the fries or roasted potatoes (they also get dropped to get the crispy outside). Still so many great options… I was stuffed! Our table opted for the oysters and blackened grouper cheek bites for our appetizers. For dinner I had the catch of the day with the butter sauce, red beans and rice with collard greens!! I can’t believe I finished my plate it was so delicious! Not to mention the mango spicy margaritas are amazing!!
There is no GF menu but the server was knowledgeable. She told the kitchen staff who wiped down their area and changed gloves. I had the blackened grouper cheek bites and the shrimp tacos with corn tortillas- amazing! I was fully expecting to not be able to eat there but instead had an amazing meal and have not had any issues.
Now open after hurricane Ian. Located on waterfront adjacent to Doc Fords with same ownership. Dixie Fish is an open air bar under roof with a more limited menu than Doc Fords, but same great quality food and drinks. No GF menu but knowledgeable staff. The ceviche cocktail appetizer is fantastic and GF.
