we were greeted so warmly! The overall atmosphere and knowledge of gluten free is good. The dialogue we had with our waitress showed she understood. The clam chowder was excellent and gluten free. The pan fried fish was a good attempt but in my opinion needed to be fried longer for more crispness. I salted and salted it to get a small amount of flavor. It seems they’ve gotten past the gf hurdle but haven’t quite finished to excellence. Adding just a few seasonings and keeping the fish in the pan until it’s crisp would have been so much better! She did warn me that it was pan fried in olive oil and no seasoning. So, I knew ahead of time. Perhaps the tarter sauce would have helped add flavor, but I don’t love tarter sauce. The regular fries contained wheat which the waitress told us about. But since we aren’t celiac, we went with the sweet potato fries. (Fried with gluten) They lacked flavor too. 😩. Hubs had the fish and chips that wasn’t gluten free and loved it btw. And bonus points for adding gluten free bread to our plates. (And letting us know that it was gf). :).

Nice atmosphere and the staff was knowledgeable about the gluten free offerings and how they were prepared. Food was good and came out fresh.

So nasty! Plain, bland steak with no flavor; boxed macaroni and cheese for the kids; runny clam chowder; slow service. Server was knowledgable about GF but that did not make up for the gross food. We came back to our hotel and ate leftover pizza.

Very disappointed that they say they have gluten free menu. Server was not educated and thought dairy was gluten. we asked if the fries were gluten free and she said yes then brought out clearly beaded fries and was confrontational when I pointed it out. 1 min later she returned to table and said she thought she may have been mistaken. Luckily we have been doing this for years and know what is what. You are taking your chances here, be very careful this isn't just cross contamination.

Really disappointed. Website claims they can make most menu items gf but have no gf buns/bread. I was not offered gf menu or suggestions other than chowder. Server nice but clueless. Didn't bring the potato chips that were supposed to come with my bunless burger, which was mediocre at best. I won't be hurrying back anytime soon.

We took a trip to Astoria and was pleasantly surprised to find this place. I am gluten free and dairy free and they were accommodating and aware of cross contamination. I had salmon pan fried in olive oil with sweet potato fries. It wasn't fancy but tasted very good.

My daughter has Celiac and we have been coming to Doogers for years. We were excited on our most recent visit to find that now she can get her fish breaded in rice flour instead of just sauteed like in the past. Doogers has always used clean and seperate pans to cook her food, and while she knows there is always the possibility of contamination, she has not had any reactions. Doogers may not be truly gourmet; but is usually consistent and good. Our favorite is the clam chowder which is gf. Its creamy, buttery, thin and focuses on the clams as the main event. The minute we arrive in town she asks to go to Doogers!

Server kept bringing Gluten items on the Gluten-free plates. Need more education on the Gluten-free lifestyle. Had to explain not to place bread or crackers on the plate. Will definitely be trying out the other restaurants in the area before coming back here.
