We came here for lunch today. It was really nice on the patio. I had the chicken wings for an app and they were good along with the blue cheese dressing. I ordered the raspberry pear salad and added chicken to it. It was pretty good but a bit too much dressing, so I would ask for it on the side. If you dont like rotisserie chicken or steak there are limited options. Our server was kind and knew the gluten free options and what was safe to eat. They have créme brulee for a gf dessert option.
After we made it clear that we need GF meals our waitress brought us non-gf bread that we had to send away. As I'm eating the bbq wings that she suggested, I ask if the bbq sauce really is gf. She goes to check and comes back to apologize that it isn't gf after all. The manager was very nice and apologetic, but we will never go back. The waitress said their computers had a glitch that didn't communicate with the kitchen that a special order was gluten free.
They have a gluten free menu - Check your plate, tho!!! When I was served the GF skewered beef tenderloin from the GF menu, they arrived on tempura'd onion strips. When I asked about the onions, my dish was quickly replaced (by a manager) with perfectly cooked skewered beef tenderloin pieces, served on top of green beans, onion and red pepper strips. The GF menu has 4-5 options in each category, except dessert, which was 2 choices. I'm so happy that they were out of the gf brulee, because we then ordered the Italian custard, which was served surrounded by strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. The custard paired perfectly with a Late Harvest Riesling and a Dow's Crusted Port. The non-gf plate was Jerk Pork, which my partner said: "It was very good. It wasn't very spicy. Very tender." I would definitely eat here again.
Josh, the manager who assisted us was amazing. We were very clear that we had Celiac not an intolerance and that cross contamination was a concern. Josh sat with us, went through the menu and provided great options and substitutions to ensure no cc. He explained that everything is cooked in fresh pans but that anything grilled will run the risk of cc. He listened, found options and personally brought us the food. It was delicious and our family had a wonderful night out. The staff was seriously caring and wanting to ensure we had a great meal. Please let them know ahead of time and visit with the manager. We enjoyed roasted chicken, pan seared scallops with amazing veggies and red potatoes. Delish!
we came before the dinner rush, so they weren't in a rush at all, yet the food was not great. I ordered a steak, and it was full of grissle. it was really difficult to find any good parts of the steak, so I eventually gave up because it was grossing me out. since they kind of specialize in steak, I expected more. I've had much better steak at much cheaper restaurants than this...
Excellent food. Great GF menu with lots options. The staff is very knowledgeable and thoughtful about cross contamination. Although it is not a GF kitchen we feel very confident eating here with our daughter who has celiac.
The hostess was really nice about printing off an allergen list for me so I could see what would be safe to eat (I can't have gluten, dairy, egg, vinegar). The waitress was also very nice about double checking on my order with the kitchen. I had the quarter spit-roasted chicken with sauteed broccoli and red skin potatoes. The chicken was very tasty and juicy, but the broccoli and potatoes were a little bland. However, I will definitely return for the great service and the knowledge that I'll be able to eat here without getting sick.
Lovely decor and friendly staff, but for GF diners that is as far as it seems to go if you're looking for lunch. The prices are high-end, and I hope the food is too, but you have to pay dinner prices for food at lunch. The staff admitted they are untrained and inexperienced serving GF diners. The server suggested fried wonton strips and the manager came to check on us, but waited to tell me that the dressing I had chosen was not GF. She did quickly replace it. The new salad and dressing were excellent. Doolitte's Woodfire Grill in Alexandria, MN could improve.
I love their GF menu it's full of delicious choices! They are very accommodating & asking what else they can to to serve you. My fav is balsamic sirloin skewers served with carmelized red onions and green beans on the appetizer section I add a sm Mediterranean salad and leave VERY satisfied ! A HUGE bonus is 1/2 price appetizer at happy hour. With that incentive I never hesitate to drop in! I feel pampered! Thanks to Doolittles in Alexandria MN
