They were amazing! The waiter who was very knowledgeable took our order and even after I ordered the manager came over and talked to me and the chef personally. They are very conscious about allergies-get reservations cause they are busy
Staff was knowledgeable, manager came out to make sure we were all on same page and would tell Chef. They just didn’t seem to have a lot of options. Kids menu only had one gf option. If you want a burger, they have gf buns.
Staff was friendly & accommodating, but there were very few choices (2) beyond salad. Even their fries are slightly battered and there are in same fryer. The lunch buffet had (2) identified cold salads. No main meal on buffet (chicken, pork, pasta) was identified gf. Only a cider available.
Delicious food and very knowledgeable staff!
The staff was great with respecting and accommodating my dietary concerns. Upon notifying the waitress of the gluten issue, she inquired if it was an allergy or a preference. Being the former, she explained that she would notify the chef and the manager, so all parties could be on the same page. The manager stopped by our table to discuss what I wanted to order and how the recipe should be tweaked to mitigate any possible gluten content or cross contamination. The food was excellent and the staff very knowledgeable. The menu only lists a few items as specifically GF, but I think the key is just letting them know and they'll do whatever is possible to adjust to your needs.
Waiter was very knowledgeable and manager even came out and explained how they were handling and preparing my food. I was really impressed. Menu has gluten free items labeled and so does the salad bar.
Though the seating host knew what celiac disease was, neither the server, nor the manager were very knowlegeable. Availability of no CC/GF dishes were very limited, as I didn't trust what they had to say about the burger grill. Thus, I ordered a beet salad minus the blue cheese and candied walnuts. The salad wasn't bad and the chef knew to use gloves/separate dishes to prepare the food. They tried, and that certainly counts. However, I'd go elsewhere, as only some of the staff actually understand celiac.
This is a must eat if in Waikiki. Staff knew what options could be GF. I ordered the Mahi Mahi "Baked Duke's Style." It was so good. Would go back again and again.
Husband has celiac and we came here due to all the good reviews. Must say, our waiter was very knowledgeable about what is gluten and what is not gluten. The food and service was excellent and the manager also came by the table to make sure everything was ok. The food is tasty and not bland just because it doesn't have gluten in it.
This is a busy spot but the staff are great. We sat at the bar on a Sat night and the staff still took the time to show us what we should eat (my friend and I are both Celiac) and told us they could make the fish taco in lettuce wraps, which was really delicious. It's served w an aioli sauce and pico de gallo but I just put the guacamole on and it was really good. The drinks are also tasty here, and you can't beat the views!
Ate outside at the barefoot bar. Waitress was super friendly and helpful. Got a burger with GF bun.
Had the lunch buffet. Pulled pork with rice and pineapple, very good. Other options available just ask your server. It is limited but they are getting new menus in soon and what we had for lunch was very good.
So impressed with service and quality of food! We ordered from bar, I chose the beet salad and added chicken. Kyle, from the kitchen came out to speak with me about severity of reaction and was very knowledgeable about sneaky cross contamination. Delicious and safe! Definitely recommend
Great experience! The server was super helpful in telling me my options and then a manager followed up and let me know what they would do to make sure everything was safe. And the food I had was so tasty. Loved it!
Everything was excellent. The manager came to the table to review my meal. She then went to kitchen to be sure it was cooked properly. Lunch was excellent!!!! We went back for dinner last night. OMG if you are GF you have got to try this place. Our server Trevor was very knowledgeable and concerned to make it perfect. After he was done, Kyle the manager, came to our table to review my dinner and assure me they are on it. Dinner was amazing. I had baked Anahi Mahi Dukes style. Excellent. Here's the best part. You get to have dessert and it's not an afterthought. Pono Pie. Gf-sugar free-dairy free. The flavor of the fruit is fantastic and it was plenty sweet, naturally. It was amazing whether you are GF or not. They can accommodate if you have celiac. Explain everything well to the server and manager. They have a great process. Thank you Dukes for adding to our vacation!!!
Ate there twice. I am surprised with other reviews as in both occasions a manager came to me to reassure the chef knew of my celiac and the food was being prepared separately, changing gloves etc. The waiters were knowledgeable and explained me all GF options in the menu (some fish, all the steaks, so I was told). I had the coconut ginger fish first time and Duke's baked fish the second time. Both were very good. Full disclaimer: I do not show symptoms.
The burger was ok but gluten free bun wasn't grilled or toasted and tasted like cardboard. Fries are NOT gluten free cause they are fried in with everything else. Was stuck with bland white rice. Service was great first time second time sat for 20 mins to order and another 20 for drinks/food. We just got up and left. The burger was tasty at least.
Great atmospherr but lame gf menu Bland Left hungry
I am only intolerant not celiac but I handled the Cajun chicken sandwich on gluten free bun without any issues. It was excellent.
GF options okay. Waiter knew his stuff. Location is amazing.
Had the sirloin and the Opah fish (Duke's style is only way to have it gf-baked with lemon-basil-garlic glaze). Both came with garlic mashed potatoes. Not many options for supper and prices were a bit higher here. The waitress, while understanding which items were gf, didn't realize the severity of cross contamination since she offered to serve us the dessert (which had a cookie crust) and told us we could just eat the middle out of the crust (obviously not a safe bet for someone with a gluten allergy). Overall food was good, just limited menu for dine-in supper (other items available if you walk in and eat at the bar area).
I'll start by saying I am gluten intolerant but not celiac. We ate at Dukes several times and they were very accommodating! Burger, steak and wedge/steak salad, we're all great!
I've eaten here many times and have never had a problem. Several gf options to choose from. The manager assures me each time I come that the kitchen prepares an area safe from cross-contamination before making my entree. They always seem to go above and beyond which is why I always return.
The service was great and our waiter knew everything about gluten free on the menu (ask for luke when you go). I recommend the ribs or steak, the fish was good too. My family tried all gf things (besides dessert) and enjoyed them all. It is a great place if you have celiac disease or need to be careful about cross contamination. I recommend going here!
So disappointed. The reviews looked great. In reality all chips (for nachos) and wings are cooked in same fryer with shared oil so although they're labeled GF they are Not. Hummus does have cheese so be careful for DF. For gf it's only served with cucumber. Laaaame. At least the manager did inform me about the fryer though.
Great and knowledgeable staff. I had the BBQ burger which was on an Udi's GF Bun. The burger was dry and bun was not toasted. But for a celiac to eat a burger out and not get sick- that's pretty epic! My husband had nachos, they were GF and very good. I would go back again- plus they had Crispin cider, my fave!
The food is really good but often times the staff needs to go ask questions. The nachos with pork are great. They are fried in the same fryer but first thing in morning. I am celiac and have not had any issues with them. They also have gluten free buns for sandwiches but the fries are not safe. Keep in mind they will charge you more for a side salad instead of fries. We have found that the service at the bar, if you can find a seat, is Usually much better than a table.
WOW! Excellent service and outstanding food. Go for lunch vs dinner-best GF options. Server double checked order and ingredients and to be sure notified the manager who both oversaw our order and satisfaction. Absolutely outstanding experience!!!!!
Quite a few gluten free selections. I had the seafood luau, which was delicious. The service was knowledgable and efficient.
It was okay. The GF menu was disappointing and the wait time was very long after being seated. The staff was friendly, but limited options.
the gf menu is small but there was enough for me to eat the steak salad was really good and I have no problems
I so wanted to rate this place highly. I have great pre-celiac memories here. Unfortunately the GF menu was a joke. It all was cross contaminated less one or two items. I was disappointed to say the least.
Wonderful place with great service and very knowledgable. As a celiac I could not risk salad bar but those choosing to be gluten free have plenty of choices
I'm GF and sugar free. The waitress went out of her way to make sure she was getting accurate info from the HEAD chef. Food was delicious., savoy and fast. I will come back again. Definitely worth the 10 minute wait!
Worked very hard to ensure GF meal. Good seafood and meat selection!
