Ok so I'm rewriting my whole review about this place because my latest experiences have shown me this is not a safe place to eat.
I used to think this was a safe place to eat because I didn't feel sick MOST of the time but I'm also not super sensitive. They have a "gluten friendly" menu (should have been a red flag) and they seemed to be (mostly) understanding when I would explain that I have a gluten allergy (I have celiac but half of them barely know what gluten is so I doubt they know what that is) and needed to avoid cross contamination. They would add an allergy alert to my order (I could see if on the receipt) I even had one server go on and on about how she made sure to tell everyone in the kitchen to be careful with my food.
Seems great right? Well my most recent experiences have shown me this is not a safe place to eat. I'll list some things that have happened.
1: I usually would get the same thing all the time (a steak salad with ranch) because I like it and every time I tried something new I'd get sick. I have gotten this multiple times for MONTHS. I recently went here for dinner with my boyfriend for his birthday and I told the server no croutons and no french fries. She returned a little later to tell me that the cooks put french fries on my salad and she is having them remake it. Ok whatever as long as it gets remade. Then a manager(?) came out and asked "did you just not want french fries on it or were you concerned with cross contamination?" I guess the cooks were arguing about having to remake it or something. I told her I was concerned about cross contamination and she said "oh well we cook the meat for the steak salad on the same grill as our bread but I'll fix that for you"... WHAT?? What do you mean?? I've been ordering this for months and that was never a red flag for anyone?? The one dish I thought was safe was actually not this whole time. I'm pretty sure they also cook a lot of the other "gluten friendly" foods like this. My server kept apologizing and said "you've taught me something new I didn't know about the cross contamination thing with gluten" shouldn't that have been part of her training? (No shade towards her tho she was amazing and it wasn't her fault).
2: I know this was partially my fault for not asking but the steak salad usually comes with croutons or french fries. I would normally get french fries until I finally asked if they have a shared fryer and they do.
3: Speaking of the french fries, ever since I learned about the shared fryer, I always make sure to tell them no croutons and no french fries. Today I ordered an omelette and my boyfriend ordered a side of french fries with his meal. When they bring it out the small plate of french fries are sitting on MY plate! The side of the small plate is sitting in my omelette and a french fry fell off onto it. The server apologized and said she thought they were mine and my boyfriend's grandma said "that was supposed to be gluten free.." and the server froze for a second but didn't say anything.
4: I was asked once if I could have cheese? I mean I guess some cheeses have gluten but I figured their normal cheddar cheese wouldn't. The server said the cooks were arguing if I could have cheese or not,
5: I once ordered and did the whole speech about the gluten thing and at the end of it the server asked if I wanted garlic bread with that. No?? Again nothing against her it's not her fault that isn't a part of her training but still.
It's sad because the staff are incredibly kind and they do seem to care they just aren't knowledgeable enough about gluten and cross contamination to make eating there safe. If you have a gluten intolerance you may be fine with eating here but I would not eat here if you have celiac or are super sensitive.
I work here, I highly recommend not to trust the gluten free bread or fries, I’ve seen heavy cross contamination. Bacon is cooked on the same grill we use to brown Italian bread, cook garlic bread, make pancakes, and grilled cheese garlic bread is passed to finisher on top of cooked fries spatulas for sauces are not changed nor do they have a separate sauce bin I was very disappointed to see this, not only for the contamination but also due to watching a video specifically about celiac friendliness and the effects of gluten during my training.
