Symptomatic Celiac

My celiac (and vegetarian) kids like to order the breakfast scramblers (scrambled egg and cheese on a GF bun) with breakfast potatoes. It usually takes longer when we order this; a server told me it's because they have to clean the grill before making GF items. My kids love their GF buns, which you can buy by the half dozen at the checkout; unfortunately they are not cheap.

One server told me that a second server is required to bring out GF meals if there is a gluten allergy. I noticed that they don't always do this though. The staff is generally knowledgeable. They sometimes ask if my kids want a cookie after their meal. They also have apples so it's not a big deal. Recently, I saw a poster behind the hostess stand announcing celiac awareness month.

Good solid place for breakfast . Several GF options for breakfast. Breakfast bun is, I think, the Glutino English muffin. I do question whether the omelettes listed as GF are in fact GF since they contain regular breakfast sausage which has, I think, fillers with gluten. And the GF menu is entitled “Gluten Friendly” which indicated to me they don’t really understand what they are doing. So definitely ASK. But servers are nice and my omelette was delicious and the coffee was great!

This place was quite a find. If you are driving across Pennsylvania, there are not a lot of gluten-free options. The woman who took our order was celiac and said they have a separate area and protocol they follow when handling allergies and such. We got the coleslaw and the grilled chicken bacon club. The bun was your typical Udi’s so next time, we’ll probably go with one of the dinners. There are a lot of options on their gluten friendly menu. If you’re driving through, I would definitely say stop in. There’s even a drive-through if you need to keep going.

I've been here a few times since going gluten free and I haven't have any problems so far. They have a decent gluten-free menu with a variety of options. Once, I asked if they could make a non-gluten-free sandwich into a gluten-free sandwich by using their gluten-free bread, and they said yes. A couple minutes later, one of the staff rushes to tell me that the meat has breading on it, and asks if I'd like the normal version without breading. Once I confirm that, the staff member rushes back to the kitchen to tell the cooks to use the normal meat without breading. Though not every staff member is completely informed about gluten sensitivities, because I once had a staff member ask me if I would like garlic bread with my meal after I informed them my meal had to be gluten free (They seemed new though so it's probably not their fault). Overall I'd say this is a safe place to eat, though if you have any additional concerns you can inform the staff (they are very nice).
