If zero stars was an option…the food was cold, bad, and expensive! No thank you!

We have been here twice and the staff was very knowledgeable and helped us select what to eat for our daughter. She loved the fries and the food. They have dedicated frier so the fries are GF. They make GF in a separate area and are careful about cross contamination. Highly recommended

Gluten free items weren't marked on the menu, but the waiter said that he could show me everything that could be made gluten free. He was very knowledgeable about it and even headed me off on my question about fries (yes, they do have a dedicated fryer). I had the crab sandwich and some garlic fries!
It's always a terrifying gamble to eat somewhere on a road trip, but I was thrilled to say I made it home from San Francisco well fed with no bathroom emergencies!

Had a great experience today at Eddie Papa’s. The staff is extremely friendly & knowledgable about celiac. The waitress went to check if the Persian Stew was GF & the Owner/Chef came out to speak to us & explained how the dish was made. He explained how for celiac diners his staff is instructed to take extra precautions. My husband had jambalaya, which was not GF, but Eddie said he could prepare it GF & that many dishes could be made GF. I felt completely safe eating here & the food was delicious! I will definitely be back.
Yes
GF fried pickles are really tasty!!
Even my son and bf, who aren’t GF eaters, loved the pickles.
Kids love the cotton candy served at the end of the meal.

The staff here is the best part: they are super duper nice and very accommodating. They try to do well with gluten free and have gluten free fries. They have a patio for dogs. The on real downside here is that the food is pretty blah. They did take a problem meal off of the check voluntarily, though.
Yes
Waiter was well informed about menu options and preparation processes. Food was safe, but taste was pretty bland. Sweet potato fries were good!

If I could give zero stars to this place I would. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY TYPE OF EATING RESTRICTION!! My family came here last night after attending the Alameda County Fair for a late dinner. This was the only place one of my younger sisters wanted to go to, which I said from the start would be a mistake, even before coming here based on the menu. This place was on the findmeglutenfree.com website as being gluten free friendly for celiacs. 3/6 of us in my family has celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disease that cannot metabolize gluten. I personally believe if you are going to advertise as having gluten free options that are safe is to have a gluten free menu or at least have it labeled on the menu as being able to have it made gluten free. I am also 9 months pregnant woman and at 8:00pm at night to have dinner. We had the worst waiter who was not knowledgeable whatsoever. It took having a complete meltdown for him to do his job and tell us what could be made gluten free besides a damn burger. I wanted a sandwich but told it was not possible. However, later learning they could of made a sandwich for me. I ended up having a gluten free fish and chips. It was awful! The only thing edible on my plate was the gluten free french fries or the 'chips' part of it. There was no seasoning on the fries, no seasoning on the fish (not even salt or pepper). I could not eat the cole slaw because there was tomatoes in it. My mom and sister both had a burger, both asked for it to be lettuce wrapped. One came out lettuce wrapped with fries and the other had a gluten free bread on it with fries. Both prepared the same way, despite it being order differently. Also, my mom did not order hers with fries, she ordered a side salad and a slaw with her. She did not ever receive it. My husband, dad and other sister who do not have eating restrictions got their food and were greatly disappointed. Our waiter never informed us that they would not cook their burger meat to the way they like it to be prepared because they will not serve it with pink, which is fine, but should of not been asked on how they wanted it prepared (medium-rare and medium) for my dad and sister. My husband likes it without pink, so he was fine with it. In the end, we paid for our food and left hungry and a bit disgusted. We will never be returning, we prefer to go to the Chili's across the parking lot, and we cannot in good faith recommend this place to anyone.

Celiacs rejoice! Not only is menu super-diverse, kitchen and wait staff are highly knowledgeable about GF and go to great lengths to make a celiac feel both welcome and accepted. Cotton candy for dessert is a fun treat for all ages.

The best dining experience I have had since my celiac diagnosis. Many GF options to choose from. The food tasted great and was safe, and the entire staff was phenomenal.
Yes
Classic Diner.
Huge menu and my waiter knew exactly what she was doing and understood gluten free.
I felt safe eating here.

Deep menu, phenomenal food, amazing service. I stopped in for a quick lunch between doctor appointments, starving after a fasted blood draw, and was immediately seated (actually, the hostess let me choose my table). Within a minute, the server took my drink order and advised most things on the menu could be made gluten free. Everything was fresh and flavorful from the iced tea (blackberry pineapple?) to the buffalo cauliflower and roasted corn chipotle pasta. I am curious about the dessert menu, but was pleasantly surprised when the server brought a bag of fresh cotton candy with the check! I'll definitely be back!
Excellent food. Much better than I had expected. And huge servings. They use a dedicated fryer for gluten free prep. And yes, Heather is a rock star!

Excellent selection, understanding waiters, definitely recommend!
Yes
For the most part this place was good. They have dedicated fryers and average diner foods. There was a mistake on the salad, it came with croutons and the waiter apologized took it back took off the croutons and brought it back (we could see the crumbs on the lettuce). Other than that issue the place is kinda expensive for the quality of the food.

This is one of the few places I can return to again & again with never a concern for a gluten reaction. And the special regional menu is always changing, with the regular standards remaining the same, so you can stick with a well-loved favorite or get adventurous. And, yes, they have a dedicated fryer for your regular or sweet potato fries. :-)
Yes
Great staff and great food can't wait to come back. Heather is really Good. They can make almost anything GF!
Yes
All American dining food with a real understanding of celiac disease.
They will heat up a new batch of oil in the fryer for you. The garlic fries are superb!
Yes
it's our go to spot for safe eats. the owner is amazing, checks on customers and has first hand experience with celiac. the food and drinks are great. reminds us of the days before we went gluten free.

I had really high expectations since this place has gotten great reviews on here in terms of being celiac safe. When I spoke w the manager on the phone ahead of time, she assured me they had many safe items, but in person I learned that they don't have separate cooking supplies (like not even a designated gluten free colander for the "celiac safe" pasta) and she basically pushed me off onto our "premiere server" (her words) to ask questions. Then as others have mentioned, the gluten free items are not identified on the long menu, and although the server responded that "many things" were gf, it was like pulling teeth to get info about which meals are gf (the corn dogs are not, that I know) and how things are cooked. Glad to see others have had good experiences, and my celiac daughter didn't get sick so id be willing to try it again, but my experience (and they were not busy at all) was not at all like other reviewers' experiences in terms of feeling assured that they knew what they were doing. And the food was just okay at best.
service was accommodating, but while the gf choices were vast, the quality was lacking both times i went here. I really wanted to enjoy the experience because of the positive reviews i saw, but the dishes were under seasoned, overcooked, and nothing tasted fresh. Perhaps i just chose the wrong dishes (jambalaya & sonoran Chipotle chicken pasta), but beyond the initial surprise of the variety of gluten free options nothing left me wanting to go back.
Tons of gluten free options. Staff was very helpful and food was good.

Sets the standard for how a restaurant should provide service to people with celiac or other food allergies. Thank you!
Yes
The food was good and the service excellent. I felt comfortable that they knew what they were doing. And, they have a separate fryer! 😃
The restaurant is getting tired looking and the decor could use updating, but I'll be back for the excellent gf choices.

great place for a safe meal and cotton candy for dessert. only improvement I could suggest is to have the GF options on the menu. staff are very friendly and helpful

This is a family favorite for us. Many restaurants offer gluten free but most don't understand cross-contamination. Eddie Papa's understands, cares and goes to great lengths to ensure our safety. Can't say enough great things about this place.
Yes
Makes my little ones really happy to have GF buns and pancakes! From what I was told owner has gluten allergies so they work hard to make sure all are happy.
Yes
Eddie Papa's is always great. I have gotten sick there 1 time in the many times I've eaten there, and I'm not really sure how it happened because they are always so careful, but every other time I've been has been excellent.
It's great to be able to eat fries and grilled cheese and everything I could possibly ever want, and the food is so great!
I've actually had the manager personally speak to me about hot fudge they left off a Grasshopper Sundae I ordered because it was thickened with flour; he let me know that they substituted the regular chocolate sauce instead.
The staff always seems very knowledgeable and I feel safe eating there. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Yes
The staff is very knowledgeable about GF options. We've had no problems. It's nice for the kids to be able to enjoy fries with their burgers or chicken fingers.
Yes
Great GF options and celiac friendly
A good place to get a sandwich WITH fries! My only complaint is that the food is too heavy for my tastes. But...fries! Sweet potato or regular.
they'll make anything on the menu gluten free... including fried items. they even dump out their friers so you don't get cross contamination issues. also love the red velvet waffle that they make for brunch. yum!
