We ate here on a trip to Estes Park and I was a little nervous because they didn't seem super concerned about celiac specifically but they did tell us they had a separate fryer for the chips and my husband (who is quite sensitive) never got sick! We had the nachos as an appetizer and he got the chicken tacos. The food was very tasty and they were quite quick! I highly recommend.
Server was knowledgeable and efficient. Ask for the separate gluten free and vegan menu. The food was good, maybe not spectacular, but they were open later and I did not get glutened.
Not celiac friendly. But they’re very friendly & they certainly tried to accommodate. But staff & kitchen weren’t even sure what gluten is. So I ended up having a shot of tequila instead of dinner :(
Ask for a separate allergen menu that shows what is made gluten free or not. There are quite a few options, but as others have noted, unfortunately the chips are not gluten free nor is the rice! The tacos I got were yummy, but I was disappointed that the restaurant chooses not to offer gluten free chips (even packaged ones as a backup) and unnecessarily fried rice, making it not safe for those of us with allergies.
Celiac Friendly yes. But options are very limited. You can’t have any tortilla chips or rice. Rice is in almost every dish.
Excellent food and the waitress was great about explaining what was gluten free and that the chips were cooked in a fryer that is used for other things. She was very knowledgeable and good service.
Staff was knowledgeable. Menu very detailed regarding cross-contamination.
Separate gluten free menu made ordering easy. Good food & friendly service in a great location.
Delicious food. The super friendly and helpful staff understand a celiac diet. They have a celiac and vegan menu. The vegan mole sauce is also gf and is delicious. While there was a wait, this is because they are so good. They take your cell number and message you when your table is available. We only waited 20 minutes and we're able to shop down the block. After that, service is great. Best gf food I've ever had in a Mexican restaurant
Food was great, staff is knowledgeable!! Can not eat the rice, tortilla chips or crunchy tacos due to cross contamination from the fryer!!
I wish that they didn't deep fry their tortilla chips or at least had plain crispy corn chips for dipping, but otherwise this is s great restaurant for those of us with gluten sensitivity. The server (even bartender) was celiac knowledgeable and I thoroughly enjoyed a safe, delicious, gluten free meal!
Food was excellent! Staff was informed of items that were gf and potential cc. I feel like many Mexican restaurants are kind of bland and taste the same. Ed’s has awesome flavor and brings the heat as well! Highly recommend!
Went here twice on our vacation, both times wonderful. The servers are knowledgeable, menu clearly indicates areas of cross contamination (chips, rice, etc...).
They have a decent gluten free menu. I had steak corn tortilla tacos and they were good. They do not have a dedicated fryer for chips. However, If you aren’t sensitive to cross contamination the chips and salsa are good!
I was there with 3 Celiacs and they ordered off the GF menu. Nobody had a bad reaction which is always good news. However, the restaurant did not have a dedicated GF frier for the chips.
Great selection, attentive and well-educated staff, and delicious food!
Kitchen went out of their way to make sure my meal was safe. Had the bison taco salad and a margarita- both very good! Would recommend to anyone visiting Estes.
good gluten free menu. the fries are not GF, but were offered to us when we ordered GF. they were great about bringing us substitute sides when we saw the fries. the pork carnitas with pineapple were awesome.
waitress very knowledgeable concerning Celiacs. My grandson had the enchiladas with no problems. He said they were very good. Tortilla chips are not GF and the waitress panicked when she ssw my other grandson ( he does not have Celiacs ) was eating the chips.
They have a gluten free menu and a knowledgeable staff. I asked if they would also change their gloves. Be aware that the tortilla chips are not safe but this is noted on the menu. A great find!
Had the bison burrito bowl with no side effects. It was delicious. The server was very GF knowledge and helpful.
Haven't had enchiladas in forever! Had the bison enchiladas, rice and beans. Very good. Also had a house margarita. Staff was very knowledgeable and nice. No reactions.
Food was delicious. I let my waitress know I had Celiac and had no side effects from lunch. We ordered Queso and while the rest of my party ate it with chips, I asked her to please bring me corn tortillas, which she did without question. I had the spinach black bean enchiladas which were quite good. I even splurged and had a Boylan's Cherry Soda. Would eat here any time.
Bison enchiladas are phenominal; however, my food had a fried tortilla chip in it, (fried with gluten items) and I didn't notice it until I had eaten half of an enchilada. I'm currently sitting in the restaurant as the rest of my party finishes. The owner did not come address the issue, but it is extremely busy tonight. Eat here at your own risk.
This place was so good, my husband and I came here two nights in a row on our trip. Probably one of the best if not THE best Mexican restaurant I've been to. I wish we had one in Denver. Also, I didn't get sick and the staff was very knowledgable about gluten free options. The only downside is they didn't have any GF desserts.
Food was good, you can't have anything from the fryer. Within an hour of eating my husband (celiac) felt awful the rest of the night so there had to be contamination. Somewhere.
Very celiac friendly! They made my daughter grilled cheese with gluten free bread even though it wasn't specifically on the menu. Also knew to warn us that the corn ships were not fried in a separate fryer so we should avoid them. Food and service were also great.
Awesome! The food was incredible. We had lunch on a Monday and the service was great.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to other people with Celiac Disease. Yes, the service is not the greatest, especially on a Friday or Saturday night when they are packed with tourists. Visit Sunday-Thursday instead. But the food is actually quite tasty, and there are 19 items to choose from, which is a lot in the GF world. I had the Nachos and the Pollo Con Creama, and had no problems whatsoever, even with the warning about the shared fryer. Definitely thumbs up.
Worse service ever!
This is a restaurant I will definitely frequent when I am in Estes Park! I love tortas and thought my days of enjoying these delicious sandwiches were gone, but not here! They have a gluten free torta on delicious bread (that I found out is made in Loveland, CO but I didn't get the name of the bakery). I was in heaven. The gluten free menu shows you which items are strictly gluten free and which items have a risk of contamination (due to a shared fryer), and they will offer special gluten free sides for your meal. The corn salsa was delicious!
Delicious gf options! The spinach and black bean enchiladas were great as well as the pozole!
Suprisingly rich flavored and unique tasting foods. Friendly staff and our orders came very quickly.
Great place! I got the gf fajitas (no soy sauce) with corn tortillas. It came with a Mexican mozzarella that was delicious! Great service, atmosphere, and food. I'll be back for sure! Oh and the staff said they can do a gf version for almost anything on the breakfast menu, except pancakes.
I highly recommend this place. I had the best gf lunch. They have a gf menu and the waitress was very acknowledge on gf. the bonus was that they did not charge you more for gf . I was told that they also have a gf menu for breakfast. I will definitely come back.
