Ask for the gluten free menu.
Food is clearly marked between gluten free and celiac recommended. Food was just alright though and portion sizes are small compared to other places. Server was knowledgeable about allergies but honestly service wasn’t the best. Hard to get anyone’s attention and was left alone for too long.
Went for dinner and had the Barbacoa tacos. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I asked about their chips and salsa being GF and the kitchen couldn’t guarantee they were fully GF (due to cross-contamination from chicken tenders being fried in there).
They indicate GF items on their menu as well as Celiac-safe options…have never seen a restaurant do that! :)
There were just a couple Celiac options but the tacos were yummy! Corn tortillas were warm and fresh.
Definitely bring your own chips as the chips are NOT safe to eat, thankfully the staff told me before ordering. Ordered the corn barbacoa tocos and while they didn’t hold together well, by far the best flavor I’ve ever had in barbacoa! The avocado crema was DF as well and complimented perfectly. A great authentic stop, just not very many options.
Our waitress seemed knowledgeable about cross-contamination and separate kitchen prep spaces, and when my food was brought out the runner confirmed that he was giving me a celiac order. I got the enchiladas and they were incredible. I didn't get sick at all! Their menu has gluten free items marked separately from celiac safe items, so they really seem to know what they're doing!
May 2023. Not impressed. As other reviews state, you cannot have the chips. Which you have to pay for chips and salsa $4. The salsa was really good, and hot! Bring your own chips with you. The menu clearly marks gluten free, celiac, vegetarian, peanut, etc. covers all the allergies. Which is good. I had the 3 enchiladas and they were just ok. No flavor. The corn shells tasted stale. I ended up eating the meat inside the bison and pork. The chicken was chunks, overdone and tough. Rice was not good. Meal was $13. Our waitress was terrible. I asked for some limes and she brought both limes and lemons because “I don’t know the difference” (her words). Others love it, so it’s up to you.
Great food, not everything on the menu is GF even though marked if you have celiac, the chips are in same fryer as an example. But the waitstaff clearly understood. I had the carne asada with rice and beans along with three carnitas tacos on corn tortillas. Very good and waitstaff clearly knew.
Really good food! I got the bison enchiladas and they were delicious. The beans were especially delicious. You won want to miss out on those. Apparently they don't have a dedicated fryer, so no chips and salsa if you are celiac, but the menu is well marked which GF AND celiac, which was helpful. Staff was great. Made a note when I ordered that I had to eat GF which I always appreciate. Great place to eat!
It’s hard to find decent gluten free options in tourists towns and it was nice to find this place today. The menu is marked not only gluten free but also celiac safe options also!! The service was amazing! The food was tasty and very filling. If you’re coming to Estes and are a celiac, mark this place down.
Super knowledgeable about celiac safe! It’s labeled on the menu and all of our q’s were answered! Lunch was delicious - we got tacos with a side of beans and rice! The tacos are really filling! (I chose to pass on the chips here bc they are fried in the same fryer as non GF items.) The restaurant is cute and on the river!
We've been there 4 times now. Menu is great. They have gluten free or celiac friendly on the menu. The celiac friendly items are made in a separate area. We have always gotten the bison enchiladas and they are very good. It's a hit or miss if we get a good waiter. They usually do pretty good. One time out of 4 have we not been happy with our waitter understanding our order.
