Separate GF menu but you have to ask for it! Their normal menu does not have GF items marked. So many different options. I’m a traditional breakfast girly and got the GF cinnamon roll (after reading good reviews about it) with my meal and it was so good! I have not had a cinnamon roll since my diagnosis, so I highly recommend!
AMAZING spot for breakfast or lunch. I’ve been going here for a few years now and I’ve never had any issues. They have so many gluten free options including pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bread, and egg dishes. The staff is super knowledgeable and accommodating. All the gluten free items come out on a plate that is a different color to mark it as an allergy.
Great brunch! They are knowledgeable about cross contact, have a separate gluten-free menu (also lists safe drinks, yay!), and even use dedicated greenish colored plates for gluten-free meals (regular are white). I got the avocado toast, fruit, and fried egg, plus a strawberry orange juice. We went on a Monday morning and there was no wait, but they do have an online waiting list you can join in advance on busier mornings.
It is so glorious to arrive at a restaurant, ask if it is safe for celiac to eat, and have the host give a complete breakdown of their processes.
Lexi was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. This will be our go to Spot when we visit Chicago. It was worth every penny to sit and eat a meal without worrying about being sick afterwards.
Thank you so much for all of your care with preparing food for folks with allergies and intolerances.
Absolutely delicious breakfast. The hostess asked if anyone had a gluten allergy as soon as we walked in! I got the avocado toast and their bread was so good! Great atmosphere and attention to allergies (assured me they would cook my eggs in Pam spray since I also have a dairy allergy). Overall felt super comfortable
Separate gf menu and it was the first time I walked into a restaurant and got asked off the bat if anyone was gluten free without me even having to ask!!! The GF blackberry banana pancakes and potatoes were DELICIOUS and I didn't get sick. No wait time to be seated either
Phenomenonal selection of GF foods. A totally GF menu with cinnamon rolls and pancakes. I’m definitely going to come here again on my trip!
In the corner of a nondescript building but inside is nicely done. Food was delicious. I got the avocado toast. My meal came all on green plates to indicate gf. The toast was a little stiff, but it was good. Bacon side was good, fruit was freshly cut and delicious. Eggs perfectly done. Wonderful meal. Server was not friendly and actually rolled his eyes at me when I said I needed a minute (I’m used to having only 1-3 choices, right?), but we’re going back tomorrow because I want to try the shakshuka and it’s our last day. I had no inkling of gluten and am a very sensitive celiac.
They have a large GF menu with breakfast and lunch items. The menu includes a disclaimer that they cannot guarantee no cross-contact because it’s not a dedicated gf kitchen.
I had the GF cinnamon roll breakfast with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. The cinnamon roll was amazing - moist, gooey, with cream
cheese icing. The potatoes were “blah” - precooked and likely sitting in a hot tray. Eggs and bacon were tasty. I might go back just for another cinnamon roll.
Newly Celiac and arrived starving. We were a party of 2 so decided to wait (even though they said it would be 1 hour and 15 minutes). It turned out to be a 35 minute wait.
We ordered the GF cinnamon roll meal & the GF blackberry & banana pancakes with a side of chicken sausage. The food was delicious!! And in spite of the long wait for the table, the food came out pretty quick.
I had such a great time at Egg Harbor. I went to two different locations in Chicago and all the staff was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. The food was great! They have an entire menu dedicated to gluten free foods. Including pancakes!! I will 100% be returning any time I’m in Chicago.
Great spot for breakfast. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and take celiac seriously. There was a mistake and my food came with an English muffin. The meal was quickly removed and they made me a new meal. Waiter even double checked that first meal wasn’t just “recycled”. Highly recommended
Fantastic separate gluten free menu (request it from your server), but they do not have a dedicated kitchen area for prep, so beware of cross contamination. Cute space, though a bit noisy, even when it's not crowded. No effective noise dampening, so lots of reflection. Staff was cheerful and responsive. Food was delicious!
I’ve been to other egg harbor cafe locations that have been great and this one is no different! HUGE gf menu and super celiac conscious. They also carry sweet Ali’s cinnamon rolls which are a fav of mine. I had the avocado toast with over hard eggs (came w a fruit cup too). They have a separate dedicated gf toaster so no cross contamination risk! My celiac cousin had a GF San Antonio skillet and cinnamon roll. This place is awesome!!
I’ve been going here for years and they’ve been amazing. Separate GF menu, everyone knows about cross contamination, and the food is brought out on different plates so there’s no mix-up. Some of their stuff is from Sweet Ali’s, and the Harbor Potatoes are the best I’ve ever had.
