The style of food, using majority of corn based, enables there to be PLENTY of gluten free options, aside from FLOUR tortillas which, last time we went, were no longer being used

AMAZING AND INCREDIBLY FLAVORFUL FOOD! This was not on my "approved" list for gluten free before traveling down to New Orleans, but when our first place plans fell through El Gato Negro saved the day! It had great reviews, so we decided to give it a go - and I am SO glad we did!

We sat in the cute outdoor patio area, just the two of us, which made it feel like a private date - our waitress was super informative and let me know I could have pretty much everything BUT the flour tortillas, which they don't use currently, bonus perk for me. Complimentary chips and salsa greet you as you mull over what to order...(again GF!).

I went for the pork fajitas, which were served SIZZLING with a medley of fire roasted/charred veggies and SO much flavor, along with a side of rice, lettuce, tomatoes (no beans for me!) and sour cream. I loved my meal so much I didn't even NEED to put them in the fajitas it came with!

A MUST TRY !

I had a skirt steak burrito. Large and good. No I’ll effects. I was a bit concerned after reading the recent bad review and our waitress seemed a bit flaky. Didn’t try the chips due to the other review. —I went here twice more and tried the tacos—chicken, pork and steak. Also fabulous and they don’t skimp on the meat. Very close to the convention center so if you are there for a conference it is a great find. I never tried the chips because of the other review. I was told they were gf but I never inquired further. The regular food was more than enough to eat.

I don’t know WHY people say this is celiac safe, all wheat and GF are cooked on the same grill. The staff was very open it all comes from the same fryer. GF options but NOT celiac safe

Great lunch of enchiladas here. The server was helpful about what menu items were gf. The chips and salsa they bring out first are edible for coeliacs! Good size portions. Left very satisfied.

They have a very impressive GF menu, and the server was knowledgeable. Chips are safe, so enjoy. Tons of fancy tequilas to make any margarita you can imagine too.

The waiter was had was horrible. Could barely speak English but food was good. Had a gf menu which I was really happy about. Homemade tortillas too. Didn’t get sick. Just get a different waiter. Wouldn’t come back due to him being so bad. Oh and don’t get the sangrias. Was horrible!

Everything was saved by an observant staff member. Initial part of the night was perfect. Ordered the food and we were given the wrong tortillas, but the food runner noticed the mistake when she delivered the food. The mistake was quickly resolved and we had a lively meal. I highly recommend a visit.

They have a GF menu and are very knowledgeable. They make their own corn tortillas and they are delicious! They put the tacos toppings in separate dishes so you can make add them yourself. It was empty but we're so glad we went!

99% of the menu is gluten free, all tortilla chips were gluten free from a dedicated fryer, the waiter Tony, was super freindly and knowledgable. Very careful about cross contamination.

Very large menu, knowledgeable staff. Complimentary chips and salsa are fried off-site in a dedicated fryer, according to manager.

For my meal, I had chicken quesadilla with rice and beans. Very, very good.

Also, location is fantastic!

We had such a great experience, we decided to eat here two nights in a row! I have a severe gluten allergy and most other restaurants down here don't have many options if any. This restuarant had a seperapte gluten free menu, that had so many delicious options! We loved the drinks as well! A must visit!
