Our server has a really hard time understanding gluten-free, and tried to tell us that beer was gluten-free (queso dip has some). I was brought flour tortillas instead of corn. They were replaced with the same meat that has been on the flour, and I didn’t want to complain more, so I stupidly ate them. Of course I got ill. My celiac friend got corn tortillas from the start and was fine, since we avoided the queso debacle.

Across from the tail end of the French Market (opposite end of cafe du monde). Our sever was really nice and helpful. They offer corn tortillas, so everything can be made gf except queso dip. Table side guac was delicious. The CHIPS are GF ! Such a treat :) veggie options available.

Great food. The corn tortillas we’re fantastic. Very knowledgeable waitress. The margaritas we’re very tasty.

I went in with high expectations and left with a stomach ache. The stomach ache passed fairly quickly so it must have just been a bit of CC. The really disappointing part was the bland and totally uninteresting enchilada and margarita that I had. I really wanted to love this place. Sigh.

Mexican is always a go to for me and this was no exception! Homemade corn tortillas were to die for and huge portions! A little pricey for Mexican but definitely worth the money!

So good! Huge gluten free menu. Excellent wait staff and fantastic food. My non-gf husband said best fajitas he's ever had and that is saying a lot! If we lived here we'd be regulars.
Great food!!
Had a great experience! Very knowledgeable server and only 3 gluten items on the menu! I was told the flour tortillas, the queso, and the mole have gluten. Was told the chips are safe as they’re not fried with anything gluten but as a general rule, I don’t eat this. I get a grilled salmon salad there, and asked to be sure there were no croutons etc. Was told they don’t use croutons. I asked about the grill area and cross contact with flour tortillas and she said that the tortillas are in a separate area. I’ve eaten this meal at 2 of their locations with no problems. The cocktails - many to choose from and mostly tequila or mezcal but I opted for a rum mojito and the ingredients were all fresh and GF. This place is pricier than other Mexican restaurants in the area but it’s higher end food and worth it. Very short drive across the river from downtown New Orleans and across from a farmers market on Saturdays 8am to noon. I went for lunch. Very quaint area near the river.

I’m not celiac but I suffer extreme symptoms from being glutened. They have a knowledge of gluten-free. The fajitas were amazing! Just know that the Mexican rice has gluten.

The style of food, using majority of corn based, enables there to be PLENTY of gluten free options, aside from FLOUR tortillas which, last time we went, were no longer being used
AMAZING AND INCREDIBLY FLAVORFUL FOOD! This was not on my "approved" list for gluten free before traveling down to New Orleans, but when our first place plans fell through El Gato Negro saved the day! It had great reviews, so we decided to give it a go - and I am SO glad we did!
We sat in the cute outdoor patio area, just the two of us, which made it feel like a private date - our waitress was super informative and let me know I could have pretty much everything BUT the flour tortillas, which they don't use currently, bonus perk for me. Complimentary chips and salsa greet you as you mull over what to order...(again GF!).
I went for the pork fajitas, which were served SIZZLING with a medley of fire roasted/charred veggies and SO much flavor, along with a side of rice, lettuce, tomatoes (no beans for me!) and sour cream. I loved my meal so much I didn't even NEED to put them in the fajitas it came with!
A MUST TRY !

99% of the menu is gluten free, all tortilla chips were gluten free from a dedicated fryer, the waiter Tony, was super freindly and knowledgable. Very careful about cross contamination.
Separate GF menu, and the burritos were pretty tasty.
