Very nice little shop, discussed with girl preparing to make sure they were handled well and she said different all tools and clean the space. Didn't stand over her to watch her do it, but ate our crepes and we're fine (one of us would have been puking in bathroom by now if they were exposed and we aren't...so taking that as a "it was done right" note). Crepes were tasty.
I asked if they had their own GF maker, and they said yes. I then watched her make a regular one on the maker and without cleaning it, made the GF one after. She uses the same utensils to make a regular and a GF one. Most expensive crepe that I couldn’t eat and had to throw away. Plus it took 30 minutes when she said 10 minutes.
The menu has a lot of gluten free toppings and they do serve gluten free crepes, however I gave mine away after they messed up the first attempt (used gluten batter) and redid the crepe with gluten free batter without cleaning the griddle. I did mention I had celiac disease, and confirmed using the word allergy to make sure, but that was still the result. I did have a hot chocolate there that was really good!
I agree with other reviews. This is in a high-traffic area and can be pretty chaotic, but the owner is very knowledgeable and you can watch your crepe being made. They clean the griddle, use new implements and wear gloves while they make GF crepes. If you have a lot of GF-free people in your party, you may need to wait a bit, since they can only commit one griddle to the GF crepes, but even in my group of five it really didn't take that long. Also, the crepes were delicious!
After searching high and low we finally found this wonderful gem. The sign is a little challenging to read but well worth the effort to find. The staff were knowledgeable, the menu was well marked, and they offered to clean the cooking pan as my son has Celiac. They had a wide range of fillings for the crepes and it’s hard to imagine there isn’t something for everyone. We ordered one egg, ham, and cheese and one with chocolate, peanut butter, and banana. Both were huge and really delicious. No side effects so a great find for breakfast, lunch, or desert!
Delicious gluten free and vegan crepes. Bigger than I expected m, but worth it as it was yummy. Reluctantly shared it with my husband and son. The staff was also extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend and will be back the next time I’m in Reykjavik.
Build your own crepes, what could go wrong?? The gluten free crepe is also vegan and almost all toppings are vegan as well. Very delicious, probably just a little too expensive for my taste.
I spent a long time looking for a place to eat gluten-free and lactose-free. In the end, we found what we were looking for here. You can choose either a 'normal' pancake base or a vegan and gluten-free base. Afterwards, you can choose the ingredients you want between sweet and savoury (I opted for a spinach, mushroom and sweet potato mix).
The staff were super friendly and the place is really nice. ♥
I ordered the gluten free ham and cheese crepe. They do use the same presses for all the crepes but when I told them I have celiac I watched them do a deep clean of the press they were going to use with brand new towels etc. I wouldn't go if they were busy as I wouldn't trust how well they clean it during peak times but I went when I was the only one there and they could take the time and care to properly clean and make it safe. It was very tasty!
This is hands down the most disgusting galette/crepe I have ever tasted…it’s as if someone who has never tasted a galette decided to open a shop and use the very worst ingredients to make it. I think it’s rice (it cannot be sarrasin)…I got the indecisive. It was really really impossible to eat and I eat everything. I was really hungry and threw half of it away. That says a lot. I never write reviews unless it is truly great or horrible. If it’s a galette you want…just no.
But the people are nice and the coffee is good….
Very tasty and very careful! Asked whether we needed the pan cleaned before making! Crepes needed a bit more salt but otherwise great!! Very safe!
delicious gluten free crepes! so rare to actually find these anywhere. i got a sweet one and their fruit was very fresh. skip the avocado, it wasn’t ripe. also their utensils are basically useless, and there’s definitely a risk for cross contamination. however, i would definitely go back :)
Me, my brother and my dad all have coeliac disease, and we were really excited to have gluten free crêpes. The staff were really helpful, and understood what coeliac disesase was. Unfortunately, I got a really bad reaction. My dad and brother didn’t get a reaction at all, so I think I was just unlucky. Since the crêpes are cooked on the same stovetop, cross-contamination is very likely. The staff cleaned the stovetop before they cooked the glutenfree crêpes, but in this case that wasnt good enough. Too bad, since the crêpes were delicious!
The crepes are good, but made on a shared surface and I’m not 100% confident in their ability to watch for cross contamination. Also, I’m DF and they put pats of butter on mine, so I had to ask them to remake it. They seemed pretty frustrated at me for that. :(
This place was good! The restaurant itself got very busy and kind of crowded, but the food was worth it. I got a savory crepe. The people knew what celiac was and took it very seriously. I was also able to get a scoop of ice cream. However, some of their ice creams were not gluten free, so make sure to ask which ones are not safe to eat. I did not feel sick after eating here. Would recommend!
Great choice, including savoury. Staff asked if I required cleaning of the pan and did this for me
