I previously would have given more stars but recently I went in and ordered soup that used to be gluten free. Luckily I told them I have a gluten allergy and they informed me that none of their soups are gluten free now. You can still get a sandwich but dang I really liked getting a soup and sandwich. Why change to soups that contain gluten? I'm so mad for our celiac community.
The food is good, but kind of pricy for what you get. I don't go often because they hassle me when I request a gluten free bun. The first time I made the request, the employee asked loudly, "ARE YOU GLUTEN?" which doesn't even make sense. On another occasion, an employee asked me if I'm truly gluten free or I just like the taste of the gluten free bun better. I think in both cases, the employees were trying to figure out if they could just make my sandwich without cross-contamination procedures or if I needed them to change their gloves and wipe off the counter. They do seem to know which precautions to take to avoid contamination, but only if they've questioned you enough to determine you qualify for them.
Sandwich was phenomenal, but I unfortunately got sick from it. Could tell almost immediately after eating, as I get a punched in the stomach feeling after eating gluten. I have celiac and am really sensitive so most likely just cross contamination
Delicious gluten free French roll. They use a dedicated prep area for the gluten free sandwiches and not all the ingredients are over there. Reg bins of ingredients can be cross contaminated so they recommend just turkey/ham/lettuce/tomato/cheese/avo/mayo that are in the GF area. That still made for a great sandwich!
Absolutely amazing to be able to have a gluten free sub! Bread was great. The staff was amazing and knew which subs were totally safe and which ones were questionable based on ingredients changing. Separate area for preparing the subs. I wish I lived here. I'd come all the time.
Sorry to hear some have had issues here but I never ever have. GF OPTIONS: Boney Billy, Comet Morehpuse, Jakob Bluefinger, Girf and the best one: NARMER! Only the Jakob and Narmer come with cheese. Best service every time! You can get some soups and chips, too!! Separate prep area and ingredients. This is my go to place ♥️ Narmer Sara
Their gluten free bread is a little dry, but most are so I don't hold it against them. I appreciate the separate preparation area with separate ingredients to cut down on cross contamination. They're gluten free sweet potato and chicken soup and tomato soup are to die for!
Hallalujah! This is the sandwich shop celiacs have been waiting for. My wife is highly sensitive to cross contamination and E&G knows what to do for this perfectly. Celiacs just want normal food with friends and this place delivers. You don't feel like a freak here, they know how to prepare GF for celiacs. Have eaten here over 10 times, never once had any issues.GF bun is good, not cardboard. The bun to meat ratio is normal. Tastes awesome!
I had the flash sub and it was wonderful!! The gluten free sub bun was very good, one of the best GF buns I have had. They had 2 GF soup options as well. I tried the tomato bisque and it was good. Would definitely recommend. I had no issues after eating here, and I have a high sensitivity. Will definitely be back!
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was a little disappointed that there were only 3, pretty ordinary subs (Ham & Cheese, turkey or veggie) that could be GF. I really wanted the cranberry-wasabi sauce! But the gf sub bun was terrific! And I prefer my subs warm or toasted and all the subs here are served cold. Overall, though, tasty & fresh. Many interesting options for non-gf subs for your gluten- eating companions.
The staff seemed very knowledgable regarding cross contamination. The GF sandwiches are prepared on a separate table and the employee even swapped out her gloves prior to handling the GF bread. I've been to three different E&G's including this one and I haven't gotten sick yet.
Solid sub sandwich however, only certain sandwiches can be made GF due to only having some ingredients in a separate GF area in the back. Still good, but they could do better.
Overall, the GF sub was okay - like someone else said, it was pretty dry, so adding more mayo or something may help. It also seemed like there was a way higher ratio of bread to filling, so next time I will definitely order extra meat as well. But the bread tasted like "regular" bread, and my Boney Billy was made in a separate area!
