This restaurant was so nice! My husband, daughter, and I ate here on 8/21/19, and it was great! My daughter has a wheat allergy, and they were very accommodating and changed their gloves/cleaned the prep areas. We got her the hotdog without a bun, and apple slices. She also enjoyed some of the French Fries! (The french fries are made in a dedicated fryer) The restaurant was very clean, and the staff was friendly. There’s also lots of room in the dining area. The owner told us that while it’s a shared kitchen and there’s always a small risk of cross contamination, they do their very best to minimize any issues and to change gloves, clean prep areas well, etc. We really appreciated that. My daughter had no reaction to her food, so it was safe. We will definitely be back! :) We were also told that they offer UDI’s gluten free buns.
The burgers are amazing and the gluten free bun is the best. The fries, not so much. As a sensitive celiac, I have been glutened by the fries. Asked and was told that the oil is shared. A dedicated basket in the same vat of oil DOES NOT EQUAL a dedicated fryer.
The burgers are small & unimpressive for the price. The atmosphere is far more fast food than high end burger restaurant. My burger was cooked incorrectly & 2 out of 3 people who ordered fries did not receive them with our meal & only received them when we pointed out that they were missing. All of this aside, the most significant point is that I got glutened. I had stomach issues the night we ate there & gluten blisters within 24 hours. I've been sick for 2 weeks since eating there. I stressed to the man who took my order that I have severe Celiac disease. He assured me that the fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer & all GF meals are prepped in a separate area. Idk what the problem was (buns grilled on the same grill as regular buns, maybe? Someone didn't change their gloves? I don't know.) But there clearly was gluten in my meal. We hoped to have a good GF option in Germantown but this is not it.
