We went here for lunch after visiting the Rosalie Mansion. I told the girl who took my order that I had an allergy and to please make a note on my order. I ordered the gringo pie and so did my husband. When they brought the food out, ours were on the same tray. She said they were both safe, so I took my chances. Within a few hours, I was having symptoms of gluten exposure. I def wouldn’t recommend if you have celiac or very sensitive gluten intolerance. As far as flavor goes, it was very good! I throughly enjoyed eating it but didn’t enjoy the after effects!

One of the girls behind the counter also has to eat gluten free! So she immediately whipped out the separate gluten free menu! I ordered the Gringo Pie and thoroughly enjoyed!! Thank You,Lord for options!!

Ok first… they do NOT have a GF menu, OR a designated fryer & they do NOT have a designated cook/prep area. Normally, any one of those things alone would have turned us away.
Despite all of this, we ate here & hubby did not get sick. Here’s how…..
We stopped by the location the day before we ate & inquired about all of the above. (We always do extensive homework before eating anywhere) The tamales are made off site & sent frozen and marked in a GF bag! They are cooked (steamed) & come to your table still wrapped in the corn husk. They don’t touch anything in the kitchen!
The fryer for their chips share with flour tortillas- SO - they said we could bring in our OWN store bought/bag of chips! ♥
We ordered 12 tamales, cheese dip, salsa (for our chips!) & 2 drinks. (Tab was $24 before tip.) Everything was SOooooo delicious!!!!
I wouldn’t trust anything else there…. But if you do what we did, you will be just fine.
Shout out to FAT MAMAS for letting us bring in our own GF chips & not getting bent out of shape.

I stopped by Fat Mama’s Tamales for dinner because my original dinner plans fell through. I have a gluten allergy, so I asked the server behind the counter if the tamales were gluten free. He showed me an allergy sheet that listed everything that CONTAINED gluten. The list also had CONTAINED items for other allergies. Since the tamales were not on the sheet, I ordered a half dozen for carry out and ate them at my B&B. They were absolutely delicious with an unexpected kick to them. Next time I’m in Natchez I would definitely go back to Fat Mama’s and eat in - get a few drinks and order several things off the menu.
