Not for anyone with Celiacs. Called ahead to check on the fried fish that was listed as gluten free. They don’t separate fryers for gluten free food vs. not gluten free food. Didn’t go and eat there because we were afraid if we went we would get sick, since they didn’t clarify it was safe for us to eat.

Staff was great. Came out and went over the menu with me. I had fried shrimp and a wedge salad. Yum! The salad was huge!

All the seafood is coated with rice flour and corn flour. Very delicious. Server was great about allerting the kitchen about Celiac. Takes longer to make but it is done from scratch. No one got sick and my kids are extremely sensitive. Highly recommend.

Very few gluten free options. My experience was awkward. I do have other allergies besides gluten so I only had one option of the 3 GF choices. Staff was not very open to working with me.

The Fryer is NOT celiac safe. It is not a dedicated fryer. With that said, there were 3 items marked gf on the menu. It was so busy (waiter warned that it would be an hour wait for dinner bc of kitchen backup) that I didn’t dare question the waiter or try for a steak to be made gf. My blackened mahi was amazing.

I just ate here 3 nights in a row. I felt completely safe as someone with CD. I had peel and eat shrimp( it would be better if there were no heads) , mashed potatoes and green beans are yummy. The next night I had the filet - very tender steak! My husband got the fried shrimp- dedicated fryer and not greasy at all. I recommend reservations or you could wait a while.

After seeing all of the positive reviews on the GF find me app, but also seeing the various Nima sensor tests on the Nima app with gluten detected in their dishes, I called to see what the manager had to say. They said they do NOT advise eating here if you are celiac. Even though they have GF fried seafood on the menu, all is in a shared fryer. If you have celiac, this is not celiac safe due to the shared fryer!! So grateful for the honestly of the manager, but also saddened that the GF items on the menu are misleading and unsafe for celiac.

Had a great experience! I have celiac disease and haven’t had fried shrimp in over 8 years. I loved every bite! And my non-gluten-free family members loved it as well! Not a heavy batter, nice and light, and delicious! The hostesses could use a little training but other than that, no complaints!

We ate here 2 times. My 5 star is based on our first visit which was amazing! They have a dedicated fryer, all breaded seafood is gluten free. So for the first time in 4 years I had real fried fish and shrimp. The shrimp practically melts in your mouth. Go early...like 5 o'clock. The place fills up. So pur 2nd time we were seated a half hour after our reservation which was late. Our waitress did not understand when I told her I needed the gluten free option. So my plate came with hush puppies. Specify to the waiter to mark it as gluten free and they keep it all separate with no hush puppies. The first trip was as it should be...the second not so much. So my review is based on going early...beat meal I had here though!

This is the old Shipps Grill—-owners moved and added some interesting items to the menu. Still GF fried gulf seafood! French fries are safe too. Not all the food is GF but there is a good selection. I rarely get anything other than the fried seafood as this is the ONLY place on the beach where I can eat that!!! Everyone says the grilled fish is delicious. Gumbo good too so they say (notGF). Wait staff friendly and helpful. Very understanding as one of the owners is celiac!
