This place is hit and miss. I received gluten-free food with toast on it, croutons on the salad and who knows what else the few times I’ve become ill from eating there. If you stick with the eggs and fruit and they remember not to put toast on it you’ll be fine.
Horrible experience here! You do not eat this food you rent it for about a half hour me and my wife got horribly sick after having omelettes and nothing else, waitress had no clue about gluten-free items, they do not have a separate gluten-free menu. I will probably never eat here again.
I had breakfast here two days in a row while visiting the area. Very impressed with the precautions they take with Gluten Free orders. I have Celiac and had no issues on both visits. The staff is very well trained! Great food!
They offer GF toast but toast it in the same toaster as regular bread. No GF pancakes. Wife ordered salad to be GF - brought salad with a big piece of bread on top. Inordeee sandwich on sourdough but it came on a hamburger bun - not accommodating server
I’ve eaten here a lot for breakfast, and I substitute the toast for fruit, no problems. They pride themselves on the menu for preparing things “off the line” if you notify them of food allergies. Last time, however, I was served my GF omelette with huge pieces of bread laying on top of it. I repeated to the server that I had celiac disease also known as an ALLERGY and that I couldn’t eat what was given to me, I then watched them go back to the kitchen and re-plate the omelette. I had to explain that I would be very sick if I ate that because it had touched bread. They remade it and comped my meal. Pretty unnerving, but perhaps it was just the Altamonte location. I’ll have to be careful now.
Love this place. The quinoa bowls are gluten-free and delicious. There are only two choices, one breakfast & one lunch, but they are both amazing so who cares? Their kale tonic is the best in town. But even better is that they have gluten-free bread now! It is just Udi’s so I wasn’t going in with high expectations, but it was grilled to PERFECTION! I am very gluten sensitive & have never gotten sick eating here.
Was a little hesitant from the reviews on here but this place is AWESOME! No up charge for gluten free bread. I got the egg sandwich on gluten free bread with a side of the million dollar bacon and everything was delicious. Definitely going back!!!
This first watch location is almost brand new. They offer some options for breakfast but what surprises me is that their GF toast is run thru the same toaster as normal bread so be careful about that if you have Celiac. Otherwise they offer up their eggs and omelets with no problem.
Updating my previous review: the restaurant has changed markedly since we first started coming here & our fellow diners were very unhappy with their experience today - long wait times despite many empty tables seemingly available, extra charges for maple syrup etc. I didn’t have confidence they could be gluten free any more so didn’t eat at the restaurant, but I think we would be reluctant to take visitors there again.
I love this restaurant. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is they are limited on gluten free options. You can still get some great items- like egg dishes, omelets, potatoes and fruit. They just started carrying gluten free bread this week, so I think they may be trying to become more gluten friendly.
they used to have a seperate gf toaster and were great about separation but it seems that corporate pulled the plug on that. no longer my go-to breakfast spot :-( hope they change it back! The hashes, Parma being my fav, is usually safe. sometimes other seasonal offerings are good too... but the other location is a safer bet
Def a great place to have a GF breakfast. Staff is knowledgeable able what is GF and if they don’t know they will ask the chef. They do have Udi’s bread for toast but they toast it in the same toaster with everything else so Celiacs beware that there is cross contamination. But they did offer a Udi’s GF muffin that is individually wrapped for a $0.90 charge. **Update 11/21/17 They no longer have the Udi’s muffin
Fantastic place for breakfast or brunch (they have lunch too.) Lots of health-conscious choices as well as all of your typical breakfast options. Fresh juices like the kale tonic or morning mediation. Tasty cage-free eggs and vegetarian options. Very comfortable atmosphere. It's a great place to chat and have a leisurely breakfast. Just remember to tell them not to put toast on your plate!
I moved near First Watch Clearwater on Village Road. I eat there with my family very often. I have celiac and of course I must eat gluten free. even though the choices aren't many, I do often order eggs ,ham and potatoes or grits. First Watch now offers a gluten free blueberry Uldis muffin. I order that and safe for a later snack. I come from Bayside NY and ther were absolutely no gluten free breakfast restaurants anywhere in my area. The gluten free restaurants I came across in New York we're actually in New York City which was quite distance from my home
Waitress said they didn't have anything gluten free, I would have to know what I could order... Horrible experience: food took forever, hair on omelet, water pitchers dirty inside, waitress' shirt was filthy with food smeared on it, didn't bring everyone's food out together. Long wait just to get a table when we did call ahead and it was not worthy! Would never go back. Stomach upset 30 minutes after eating an omelet.
A breakfast place. A fair amount of gluten-free choices, like omelets. They have separate pans to cook things in if you have other allergies. We came here twice. One waitress was confident in talking through the allergies, the secret was not, but the cooks were very confident. My wife got the breakfast tacos in corn tortillas and they were delicious.
There are gluten free options, but it takes some work to figure it out. Hostess referred me to the First Watch app which does not have the allergen menu. After searching the Internet for 15 minutes, I settled on the Chicken Pesto Quinoa Bowl and a Kale Tonic. It was delicious and somewhat worth the effort.
For the very sensitive, I would caution. The food is good, a little on the expensive side. I usually have the market veg omelet, the greens and grits and have been fine. They don't have a whole lot of foods that are safe for the GF, no special menus or safe cooking spaces. They do serve breakfast during lunch hours so my family can eat lunch and I can stick with what has been safe, an omelet. They have this wonder thick sliced seeded wheat bread that my family loves and I have asked for no bread several times and still get it on my plate.
No gluten free menu. I was told nothing can be guaranteed gluten free.
Updated 7/31/17. They are still here a year later and still serve amazing GF options that don't even make you Miss it. :-) They don't have specific gluten free items mentioned on the menu. But they have LOTS of gluten free options. Their breakfast quinoa power bowl was amazing. They have some awesome fresh pressed juices too. They just opened a June 2016, according to their sign. OMG good!!

Awesome! We found this place last summer and made sure to try it again this summer. It was even better than we remembered. We have been here 3 times in this week and I have felt great after each visit. I have been gf since I was diagnosed as celiac in 2006. They do not have a dedicated gf menu, but upon request they are happy provide an ingredient list and a list of "gluten friendly" options. The Farmer's Skillet is my personal favorite.
I had a really good experience here. Food was excellent. The waitress was knowledgeable about what food contained gluten, even though it is not listed on the menu. Obvious sources of gluten are out, but other items are pretty much gf. The manager let me know how they keep food free from cc when I asked about how the food is cooked. I would come here regularly if I lived in town.
This location always takes care with my wheat, dairy, and yeast allergies. A few times I have had to ask that my allergies be written on the order because the wait staff didn't write them down at first. When they haven't written my allergies clearly someone from the kitchen has come to check with me. We frequent this location and they have gotten to know me. The same waiter brings my meal nearly every time we've been there.
Server acted like gf questions were an inconvenience. She never once smiled. Portions were small and prices quite high. I won't go back
Given a gluten free "guide" but no menu. Basically how to order and leave obviously gluten containing items off. Definitely did not have a warm and fuzzy feeling. Did not get sick, but also had to order very plain food. Definitely not worth paying to go out to eat.
All omelets are GF. Served with breakfast potato fries and ramekin of fresh fruit (melon, honey dew, pineapple, grapes, blackberry). Servers are knowledgeable regarding GF. My first time here, but will definitely return. Very busy on weekends and holidays (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas). Can call ahead to get on waiting list and can make reservations for party of seven or more. I recommend this place for celiacs. Be sure to tell server you must have gluten-free because of allergy. I did not ask, but I suspect other menu items can be made GF.
When asked if they had a gluten free menu they said no and did not offer to show any options that were gluten free. We had to push the issue and finally got an option of omelets. The waiter did not know anything about gluten free dining. I only received half a cup of coffee when asked for it.
the chicken chimchurri dish is AMAZING. I have eaten at this location twice in the last 4 months and have always found a great selection of egg dishes. the potatoes are carefully cooked on the grill as well. would love to see gf bread added to the menu, but the breakfast food is PHENOMENAL. I have never got sick eating here and they are very accommodating. I highly recommend
First Watch was once phenomenal about GF options and cross contamination. In the last year or so, they have become GF ignorant and rude. They provide an allergy ingredient sheet but no longer accommodate celiac. Twice now, I have gone and have not eaten. When specifically saying, "no toast, no gluten products", the toast has arrived with my skillet or touching my eggs. So, disappointing! They were once a safe and reliable, "go to".
Insanely limited selection. This is a good place if you like to wait around for a really long time just to eat side dishes. I'm having a side of grits sprinkled with embarrassment and inconvenience.
