Excellent food. Many options. They are very careful and knowledgeable about gluten.
Separate GF menu, some good choices, staff seemed knowledgeable about GF. Food was delicious, great quality and taste and the view was amazing. Would recommend!
Top ervaring. Kortom super georganiseerd restaurant! Goede bediening ook. Niet goedkoop maar iedere dollar waard.
GF Notes: They have a separate gluten free menu with actual items to choose from. They use the paper straws which can have gluten, so tell them not to give you a straw.
Other Notes: I have a review on TripAdvisor if you want to read details. Service was horrible and food was just okay. View was great.
They had a separate GF menu :) if you’re not a fish person, there are limited options for the entree. I got surf and turf, and it was the best decision. I split it with my boyfriend, and it was enough for 2. We also got Caesar salad (minus croutons for me).
Definitely recommend to get your fish fix!!!
Came here for lunch and my husband ordered the fried calamari for the appetizer. I’m used to not getting in on the appetizers, but the waiter surprised me with a gluten-free version so I could have an appetizer, too! Such a thoughtful thing to do! I ordered the chicken with risotto and it was yummy. I felt confident with our waiter’s attentiveness to the seriousness involved and I would definitely go back. Side note: they give paper straws. I’ve heard some have a gluten paste, so I immediately asked for a new water when I saw the straw was already inserted in the water glass. The waiter was not aware of the gluten paste possibility, and got me a new glass of water without hesitation.
Walked here from the aquarium. Had lunch from the GF menu, sesame crusted mahi-mahi. Wait staff made sure the chef would ensure that my meal was properly prepared, also had me sign a small form regarding allergies. Didn't disappoint! No dessert, too full. Beautiful views!
This place was amazing. They were great accommodating my allergy. The waitress was great and assured me the executive chef handles all the meals with allergies. I had the lobster risotto and it was amazing. The creme brulee was delish. Highly recommend if you have a gluten allergy or intolerance.
A good amount of options to choose from. They have a gluten free menu which doesn’t include their gf crème brûlée and chocolate mousse. I had the sesame seed crusted mahi mahi with garlic mashed potatoes (instead of the rice) and the crème brûlée. The fish was a little bland, the mash and dessert delicious.
Side note for dining with kids: you can’t bring your stroller inside and they are not liable when your stroller disappears.
This was a very delicious meal!! Talked to our waitress about having celiac. She brought out a GF menu with lots of options. She was very familiar with cross contact and assured me that my meal was safe to eat. I had the halibut with sweet potato and veggies. Soooooo good! I even got to pick from a dessert menu and I got the Ghirardelli chocolate mousse which was to die for. I am very symptomatic and I had no problems eating at this restaurant.
First off. That was the most amazing restaurant I’ve been to in a WHILE that made gluten free food that well. Granted, it’s sea food so most of it’s naturally gluten free. But I went in, saw the menu and asked the waitress if they had any gluten free food. She said that the chef will actually make accommodations for almost all the items and they would make it themselves personally when an allergy was involved. I got the sand dabs which are normally panko coated and they came out amazing. I fully trusted them with my meal and have not had any bad reaction to it. None of their pastas can be made gluten free. But it’s sea food so you probably won’t go for the pasta. That and they have a wide arrangement of cocktails, wines, and they make many non alcoholic drinks. Only gluten free dessert options they had was crème brûlée and a chocolate mousse but the crème brûlée was amazing. Pricy but I would very much recommend it.
Great views, even better food. Mentioned celiac and they immediately brought out a gf menu. Waiter reiterated gf when I ordered
The seafood was delicious but very expensive. Also, this is not a place for anyone that doesn’t have time to sit and wait as it took three hours for our lunch and that was after being seated
Had a lovely lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. The GF menu has about a dozen items on it, and you could get something off the specials fairly easily. We both had salads and they were a good sized with prices comparable to inland restaurants.
I recommend this without hesitation.
Had separate GF menu with several options. My Ahi Tuna salad was nicely prepared was a nice size.
The Fish Hopper was recommended by our airbnb host, a short walk from our abode. The restaurant is right on the water so maybe more appreciated during daylight hours, although we had window seats at night and the large moon gave a wonderful reflection on the bay. This is upscale food for all their regular entrees and I guess for their gf ones too although that wasnt my entire experience. They do have a gf menu which was nice. None of their seasonal dishes were gf however but all looked fantastic. We had the bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer that were a very small portion but very delicious. My entree was an interesting experience of the kitchen sending out a plate which resembled nothing like the menu described- plain rice instead of risotto, basic mixed spring vegs instead of the artichoke heart ensemble in the menu, and this was from the gluten free menu. WEll, the GM made it right by comping my meal and their gf dessert creme brulee which was tasty. I guess the chef thought I wouldn't notice?? I felt great after the meal, so I would give them high marks for safety. I think the value in this restaurant is the location more than the food from a gf angle, probably better for nongf.
Server was knowledgeable about the menu options for a celiac, food was great. No issues, would dine here again when in Monterey.
Talked specifically with certain staff members about their menu- they recently (within the last month) re vamped their menu and now have a separate GF menu! Staff is reminded of allergies every morning before they open, and my waitress was extremely careful with me, made sure to write that no cross contamination was to occur for a “severe gluten allergy” restaurant staff are trained in allergies- not celiac disease. Overall it was a great experience. Ate here twice and never had any symptoms after. Will definitely come back when we visit again.
No separate GF menu. Server was able to tell me which items were GF or could be made GF. She said they discuss allergies every day at the start of shift and she appeared to note our allergies on her pad. I did not get sick after.
AWFUl! We ended up walking out because they couldn’t tell me what was gluten free. Our waiter just asked what I wanted and after 3 attempts couldn’t modify anything to be gf. He only suggested one thing on the menu which I wasn’t that keen on. No gluten free pasta either. We spoke to the manager on the way out who was very nonchalant about the whole thing. Couldn’t feel confident that what they could give me was actually gf. Very annoying as it seemed like a nice place and we enjoyed our drinks!
Waitress was very knowledgeable and followed up to double check on details like the fryer and sauce ingredients. They made a separate, off-menu, kid’s sized meal for my Celiac son and confirmed that the fries were GF and prepared in a separate fryer. He said his shrimp were really good and no signs of cross-contamination.
Pretty amazing place, they have gluten free menu but can pretty much modify all the dishes to accommodate the diet restrictions. I’m dairy intolerance but had an amazing cioppino, no dairy no gluten!!! A little pricey but food quality is great, highly recommended!
I ordered the halibut which was modified to be grilled instead of breaded. The restaurant recently did away with its gluten free menu but our server Steve was very knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendations. He even asked if I was celiac which was amazing. He said once something is marked as gluten free the kitchen takes measures to separate so it can be prepared safely. Sometimes that can be to modify and he recommended against labeling my fiancé’s meal as gluten free so he could enjoy it how it was meant to be prepared. The food was delicious and I was happy to enjoy a safe meal. I would eat here again if I was in the area.
Order from GF menu - Sanddabs (flounder) with potatoes and veggies. He specifically asked me if I were allergic to gluten.
Dedicated gf menu. Shared fryer. There are no gf items on the kids menu. With it being pricey to begin with, its quite the price for a kids meal. Desserts have one gf option, but its heavy dairy. All other desserts have dairy. With that being said, the locals fill the bar and do not welcome children and families. I would stay away with kids.
No special buns or dedicated fryer, but they do have a GF menu and they understand cross-contamination. My son who has Celiac enjoyed the steak very much.
Staff was very knowledgeable and went and spoke to the chef for me as I also have a citrus allergy. Food was amazing and the view was spectacular.
Excellent service! Friendly staff. Delicious surf & turf, excellent salad & sides.
My family and I were visiting and picked Fish Hopper since we loved our experience at the Kona location and they have a gluten free menu (I have an allergy to gluten). I had a bad feeling when I checked in for our reservation and the hostess said they had nothing available (come to find a good 1/3 of the restaurant was empty with plenty of seating) and she rather rudely advised to read their "policy" regarding our children (basically we had to keep our children quiet). We have very behaved children who were practically unnoticeable amid the noise already inside the restaurant.
Service was very slow, a good 20 minutes between the appetizers (from the gluten free menu) and the main courses. My meal was mediocre at best, risotto was overdone and mushy, salmon was dry. But the biggest issue was that within minutes of leaving the restaurant I became violently ill. I knew this feeling well and it was definitely due to gluten. I'm not sure how the kitchen is run but there is obviously little regard for safely preparing meals they advertise to be gluten free.
I am extremely disappointed as this is not a super causal establishment and expected better service and attention than we received.
Ironically, the time from dropping off the check to coming to see if I had left payment was no more than a couple minutes.
Staff was very good! Their entire gluten free menu really helped! The waitress even triple checked with the manager to make sure that the thousand island dressing that comes on the Crab Louie Salad was gluten free! Made me feel very comfortable! Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere here!
Had a decent gluten free menu that was part of their "regular offerings." I had a hard time enjoying it though because they had a specials menu printed at the front with items that looked pretty amazing and likely gluten free as well (lamb with prawn skewers, cioppino (without bread), to name a few). The waiter had no interest in asking the chef if any were gluten free or could be modified. I ended up having the chicken breast which was thinly cut and dry (and also didn't have a starch on the plate, just veggies, weird).
To be fair, the other waiters seemed way better and we might have had a better experience had we been at a different table.
They were very accommodating and tried to give me substitutes for everything I couldn't eat. Great food too!
Macademia encrusted tilapia was excellent and I ate without issues. We were time constrained and they were able to get us in and out quickly. Beautiful views of the coastline.
