Had a separate GF menu. My daughter and I both had grilled fish and roasted veggies. Food was good.
The server provided a wheat free menu and seemed knowledgeable about gluten free eating. I stayed away from menu items which needed to be modified to remove gluten containing items like salads and soup and instead I had grilled salmon and vegetables. Food was pretty good and I was not sick, so no cross-contamination.
Their idea of gluten free is just to not give you bread and take the croutons off your salad. My fish was way overdone and had to be sent back so I didn't get to eat with the others. I would not go again.
Asked the hostess for a gluten free menu. She looked at me like I had three heads and gave the regular menu that had no indications marking gf. Walked back out.
The food tasted decent. I still got glutenized. This is not a safe place for those reacting to cross-contamination. I really should have known better since the "wheat allergy" menu contained a plethora of "order ... without ..." substitutions.
I was happy to find out that The Fish Market has several naturally gluten free menu items. After I explained that I have Celiac Disease along with other food allergies, the waiter we had made me feel very comfortable about eating with my family. Our waiter kindly went over the steps their kitchen takes to insure how food is properly prepared to avoid any cross contamination. It's always nice when you go out to eat with friends or family and not feel worried about getting sick or glutened. I greatly value that the staff and kitchen at The Fish Market are well trained and understand the importance of taking food allergies and medical diet restrictions seriously. The atmosphere at the restaurant was great, the food was delicious, and I can't wait to go back again!
The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because their clams and oysters are very fresh, if you eat those. Other than that, this location has the worst cooking of all the Fish Market Restaurants. This is NOT the place for Gluten Free eating and options. Nor dairy free, which I need as well. Everything is gluten and dairy laden. And expensive, and barely average tasting. Wait staff is usually friendly. Middle of the road food for the masses, unfortunately and they haven't kept up with the times with their menu. Hasn't changed in over 25 years.
Great service and wonderful food and a lot of choices. I'm highly sensitive to cross contamination. I've eaten here 2 or 3 a month and coming here for +20 years and never had an issue. I always eat at the oyster bar where they serve their full menu. They recently added a gf menu... Lots options... Ceviche, duckets bucket (mixed steam shell fish), steam clams, steam mussels, steam cockles, steak and lobster, oysters (cooked or raw), warm spinach salad (I always add fish), grilled fish (all). Pretty much have everything but no pasta and fries.
I've been coming to the Fish Market for over 20 years and it never fails to satisfy. Their main specialty is Mesquite-grilled fish with a variety of lovely sides, though the menu has grown substantially over the years.Make sure you request the gluten-free menu and you'll have the perfect guide.
