The employees had no idea what gluten free meant. I walked in and asked the evening shift employees if they could do a gluten free order. Their response was, "What?...(look confused at each other)...everything has gluten."
Two visits here- one time I had to keep an eye on staff and remind them of my needs, second time different staff they were fabulous. Five Guys in general never gives me issues, they change gloves, lettuce bun is delicious and they are generally knowledgeable. Plus you can watch them.
They do a really good job of keeping your GF food separate and changing gloves. It's also really nice that you can watch the kitchen prepare your food if you have any concerns. Only down side is that sometimes when they bag up the fries they occasionally place them in with my partners gluten meal and not the GF bag, so I would mention that the fries are supposed to go with the GF meal when you order.
This location seems to be really aware of following correct procedures to avoid cross contamination, staff are good about asking if celiac or allergic if you order a lettuce wrap/tray, and they do wrap the lettuce burgers nicely.
They can make a lettuce wrap out of any of their burgers, BLT and veggie sandwich. Their fries are fried in peanut oil and they do not understand gluten free- no glove changing or contamination free area. Heck I even ordered a bun free sandwich once and got a bun and blank stare from the server when I asked why. Eat at your own risk I've had good and bad experiences here I'm gluten free due to IBS and my last meal there gave me issues.
I have been to this location at least a dozen times. I have had one visit with a bad reaction. I always order the same: bun less burger in bowl, fries, and vanilla shake. The staff is always willing to change gloves and take extra care when preparing my meal.
I watched a cook arrange burger buns on the flattop, then -- WITHOUT CHANGING HIS GLOVES -- walk over to the friers, lift a basket, break a French fry to test its doneness, put the broken fry back into the basket, and put the basket back down into the oil. I asked if that was normal. He said that they aren't required to change gloves to check the fries. These French fries are GLUTEN CONTAMINATED.
We usually have pretty good luck with Five Guys but yesterday was an exception. Both me and my five year old got sick after eating there. I called later and reported it to the manager so hopefully he will educate his employees on how to eliminate cross contamination. I should have watched them the entire time my food was being prepared.
My daughter is very sensitive and these guys have taken great care of her. They prepare the food out in the open so we are able to police them. Every once in a while we observe potential cross contamination, but they are always apologetic and make her a new burger. This is one of our go to places.
our son has Celiac. Staff were knowledgeable and took great care to use allergy precautions to prepare his food. No GF buns available. Fryer is dedicated to fries only and GF. our son is very sensitive and did not get sick. The food was really good too. I must add that if you have peanut allergies stay away.
We are very kind when it comes to asking folks to accommodate our allergy. We decided to not return to this location due to the rudeness of an employee - and we've never had to do this to any other restaurant. We finally spoke to a manager who was apologetic and asked that we always ask for him when we return but it shouldn't have come to that.
Twice visited & ordered hamburger in bowl. Fry guy didn't change his gloves aft handling my family's burgers. Manager was quick to apologize & they fried up a new batch for me. They r trying though. Dedicated fryer so I always enjoy their fries.
They have extremely tasty burgers! You can have them in a tin or in a lettuce wrap. The buns and their grilled cheese sandwiches are toasted on a separate grill so no worries about cross contamination. Their fries have a dedicated fryer. I usually bring my own GF bun! They even will mark your order with special instructions when you tell them you have a gluten allergy!
Classic burger joint. Very gf and know what you are talking about they offer hamburgers wrapped in lettuce and their fries are gluten free. would give 5 stars but they are more expensive and in my opinion not as tasty as in n out burger or smashburger. I have eaten here a few times and have never gotten sick.
The food was very good and well prepared. I am very sensitive to gluten and did not get sick. The fries are done in a dedicated fryer and are cut fresh, so no gluten. The cashier was well versed on gluten free. They don't have gluten free buns, but you can get burger in lettuce wrap or bowl.
