They understand when you tell them allergy when ordering a gluten free pizza. Make sure to mention it is an allergy so they know to put it on a safe aluminum pan to bake. They prepare the gluten free pizzas in a separate area away from the regular ones. When I asked for a box the server first boxed up the regular pizzas and said she would go wash her hands and be back to do mine. Good pizza as well! They are up front on the menu about potential for cross contamination because it is a pizza place and they are trying to cover themselves but they are the safest pizza place I have eaten at both at this location, in Portsmouth and Portland.

I am not celiac, just gluten intolerant, but I was impressed with the care that they took with my GF pizza. It was prepared in a separate area, away from the regular pizzas, and was cooked on a disposable aluminum pan. I had the BBQ pizza with pork, pineapple, and goat cheese. It was delicious!

Acted like they do this all the time with GF. Got sick within 10 mins of finishing my part of a GF pizza. So cross contamination likely. Add to that... it didn’t even taste good going down. Dry dry dry ingredients and bland flavor. I wouldn’t return there.

Great and safe GF pizza! The waitress took all of my concerns seriously. They use a pizza crust that's in its own aluminum tray, they use completely separate toppings, and cut it in a different area that's above where they cut the gluten-full pizzas. I'm writing this review 24 hours after eating and I'm feeling great!

Best pizza I've ever had. I got the sausage pizza with vegan cheese. Our waitress was really responsive and happy to talk through their precautions to keep the pizza safe. For gluten free pizza they make it in the back room so it's not prepared near the gluten pizza, and they use toppings that haven't been used for gluten pizza, either. Then they carry it out on a special tray so it doesn't touch anything. I also watched the person putting pizzas in the oven and he was very careful about placing it in a way that he wouldn't be putting the floured paddle over top of it. These folks really go above and beyond to make gluten free pizza as safe as it could possibly be in this type of restaurant. They also made a mistake on my pizza and cut it using the wrong (gf but not df) cutter, so they immediately made a new one. I appreciated that they caught the mistake and corrected it right away. That said, the seating area is in a large room where the gluten pizzas are being made and cooked. The ovens have hoods and we saw the smoke being sucked into the hoods, so any flour in the air stays away from the seating area. I'm very sensitive and didn't get glutened.

Knowledgeable staff and separate preparation for GF pizza made this feel like a safe choice. My son ate the pizza and did not complain but honestly I didn't think it was very good. The toppings were delicious but the GF dough not so much. It seemed like the bottom (either the dough itself or because it is cooked in a pan) was undercooked but the crust was really dark. I'm not sure how they could avoid it given that they are going out of their way to make it safe, but I guess upon reading all the reviews I had set expectations higher. Great service, salad, fresh lemonade and toppings.

Staff seemed very knowledgeable about Celiac. Informed me that they take as many precautions as possible but there is plenty of "airborne flour, etc." so I'm taking a risk eating there. I ordered a cheese and herb flatbread which apparently came out without herbs because the waitress asked afterwards if I wanted herbs on the side? I declined because it was very tasty without. Picky family loved their non-gf pizza. I waited a few days to make sure I didn't get sick and so far so good. The pizza was however extremely greasy and maybe I'm weird but the amount of smoke from the ovens inside kind of bugged me while eating, haha. I'd go back though.

They not only cooked the pizza on a disposable tray but they prepare the pizza where they prepare the salads to help with any cross-contamination. The gf pizza was very good and my son had no issues after eating it. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere was great. It's family friendly but also a good place to go without kids. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area again.

Definitely not gluten free. My wife has celiac to the extreme. 2 emergency surgeries from it before being diagnosed. She threw up within 30 minutes of eating. My youngest daughter had green, loose stools the following day. I should have suspected a problem when the order taker asked if the reason for gluten free was a food allergy, or a fad diet. BTW. On top of not being gluten free, this was the worst pizza that I, my wife, or my children have ever had. We ordered 2 different GF pizzas and one that was not GF. I don't know where all of the 5 star ratings are from. ??? I did notice that some of the eaters said that they had celiacs. A true celiac knows that there is no s in celiac disease.

The gf crust was very soft and larger than most gf pizza. The selection of nitrate free meats and organic ingredients is impressive. Eh. Would not order again: I don’t like the flavor of their crust and always find that there isn’t enough cheese or sauce. It can get to $20 for a personal pizza if you start adding extras. I’d rather just get a frozen Freschetta pizza- or even a frozen American Flatbread pizza for that matter! They are somehow different.

Yes, this place has airborne flour. So despite their many precautions (separate prep area in back room, no shared cooking surfaces or utensils), if you are super sensitive this might not be the place for you. At my last visit, they delivered my wife’s gluten pizza on the top of the two-tiered rack, with my GF pizza on the bottom. So that wasn’t great. I have personally never gotten sick and have eaten here several times, and will continue to enjoy it once in awhile since I don’t have a ton of choices within an hour drive. But it might not be for everyone.

I have been to other flatbreads without issue. Last night was the second time I was glutened at this particular location. Never happens at the other ones. For some reason, they always remove the pizza from the aluminum tray they bake it in, and serve it on the ones they serve everyone else’s pizza on. Why? none of the other locations do this. Those trays may be washed, but transferring to other surfaces is not safe in a place like this. I watched them cut and transfer pizza without washing, changing, or soaking a single hand, board, or pizza cutter (looked like the cutters were color coded by vegetarian, vegan, and meaty). Honestly, it wasn’t even busy this time and I still had issues.

Very good pizza crust and tomato sauce but I can’t recommend Flatbread because we were not informed by our server that GF pizzas take 50+ minutes as compared to non GF. Our server was very attentive until she got our order than we didn’t see her again until the check came over an hour and a half later. Never offered refills on drinks or advised us on the increase wait time for GF. We saw another family come in, eat and leave all in 50 minutes! Do not bring children here! I should mention the restaurant was only ⅔ full and it was 1:30 on a Saturday.

While they do offer gf pizza, separate prep area and it's cooked on it's own tray in the oven, I still got very sick. Amazing ambience and great flatbread. They have 2 different kinds of gluten free crusts - one has honey and the other one is vegan. I had the vegan one. We ordered 2 different pizzas each time and ate their twice. Tested it with Nima and came back gluten free. They know about cross contamination and their gluten free kitchen area is completely separate. However, they have only one wood fired oven but take precautions and place gluten free pizzas on a foil. That takes care of cross contamination. And proven by Nima. Happy to find this place. Also, my wife is vegan and they let us buy vegan cheese from outside (they don’t carry it) for our pizzas. Very accommodating. Do try their house Cabernet. It’s worth the $14/glass. Gluten free crust is $7 extra but so much worth it. Would go back here again if I’m here again.
