I get really nervous about pizza because there’s so much room for cross contact but server explained that they prep the pizzas in a separate area and they are cooked above the gluten free pizzas on individual pans and they use dedicated tools. I did not have any reaction and pizza was really good (and nice to have a full size pie even if a small upcharge from the regular dough). Had a salad here too that was very fresh. Would recommend.

They really are knowledgable and careful about the prep to avoid cross contact, but it's still a risk. You are able to split ant pizza in half so you can try multiple toppings. My stomach was a little off after eating here, probably some minor cc.

Called ahead to see what precautions they use when preparing the gluten free pizza. They said that while they can’t guarantee 0% risk and do cook it in the same pizza oven, but they prepare it in an area separate from gluten items, change gloves, use clean utensils, scoop ingredients from separate containers, and bake it on a tray so it doesn’t touch the surface of the pizza oven.
Pizza was delicious and I didn’t experience any symptoms.

We are regular customers throughout their New England locations. They are great with GF pizza. The Portland location literally just switched to a new, locally made GF crust. It is terrific - none of that gummy texture you can get with a GF crust. If you haven’t liked the GF pizza here before, give it another try.

Mikey is an ALL STAR waiter. I have never felt so comfortable eating out. He personally talked with the staff to ensure that I would be eating safely. Him and the manager walked me through the precautions that they take, told me what the safety, and notified the kitchen in person to be cautious. I had an incredible meal. I will definitely be back. Even there salad dressing is gluten free. Made with tamari. And it’s delicious! They offer vegan cheese too. They prepare AND cook the food Celiac safe. They wash their hands, change their gloves, take clean, toppings, and cook it in It’s own pan. A must go if you’re in the area!!

Don’t know what the kitchen actually looks like but they claim separate area for GF prep. GF and regular pizzas were really good (and we have a lot of good GF pizza near home), salad was really fresh with amazing goat cheese and dressing, beers (non-GF) were good, and was nice to sit outside near water. Service was great.

Pizza was okay. Separate prep area which is crucial in a restaurant filled with flour. One gf pizza is enough for 2 people.

My 11yo celiac loves Flatbread! They will use a separate prep area for gluten free pizzas upon request, and they are baked on a separate pan. Great location on the waterfront too.

One of my favorite spots in Portland prior to being gluten free. I was thrilled to learn that they could make any pizza gluten free and they cook it in a separate pan to avoid cross contamination. Overall I thought it was pretty good! They also have some local cider options too.

Ordered the gluten free flatbread with sausage and sun dried tomatoes. Only 1/3 of pizza had cheese. But it was very good. Wish someone would have paid attention to put cheese on the entire pizza.

Felt safe with separate pan for cooking, but was not the most satisfying/tasty flatbread/pizza. I got the classic cheese. The crust was floppy and the cheese slid off making it difficult to eat.

My gluten free flatbread was great- made on a separate tray. It was so nice to have gluten free desserts and the waitress was great about checking on things when I had questions.
We ordered drinks, local ciders and local beer for my non-gluten free husband while waiting for our outdoor seats on the water. When we sat down we ordered a gluten free pepperoni pizza for the kids. It was ready within 20 minutes. They asked if it was allergy or intolerance. Came on a separate sheet pan to protect against cross contamination. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch gluten free flatbread pizza. It was delicious. For dessert we had the gluten free Whoopi pie and gluten free warm brownie sundae. Both came with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Both were child approved.

Celiac here. Got the GF pizza with olives and goat cheese on it. They have a separate prep area, grab new toppings (so no cc with non GF flour in the air), use a disposable aluminum pan and separate cutter for their GF items too.

Fantastic gluten free pizza and even better service. We went right when they opened for lunch and the restaurant filled up immediately. They offered to cook the pizza on its own sheet to avoid contact. The pizza was so good and I highly recommend this place for the food and the views of the harbor.

We’ve always loved Flatbread every time we visit Portland! They’ve always taking proper precautions with the gluten-free pizza. For those who also have issues with dairy it’s nice they offer vegan cheese (Daiya) which I appreciated. I also love that their GF pizza is THIN crust (some places claim this but it ends up still being thick). Beautiful location and lively fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!

De-licious!!! When we ordered GF, the waiter specifically asked if it was due to an allergy and said he'd make sure the chef knew about it. They can make any flatbread pizza GLUTEN FREE, plus they put it on a special tin to cook it, so it's not cross contaminated with regular flour. The location of this restaurant is gorgeous - right on the water. Highly recommend!

Excellent experience at Flatbread. The staff was very knowledgeable about Celiac and took all necessary precautions. The pizza is prepared in its own area, cooked on a tin pan as to not touch anything in the pizza oven, and staff changed gloves. Also all their salad dressings are gluten free. Highly recommended!

They take cross contamination seriously and the staff was knowledgeable. Pizza was really good too!

Yes, this place has airborne flour. So despite their many precautions (separate prep area in back room, no shared cooking surfaces or utensils), if you are super sensitive this might not be the place for you. At my last visit, they delivered my wife’s gluten pizza on the top of the two-tiered rack, with my GF pizza on the bottom. So that wasn’t great. I have personally never gotten sick and have eaten here several times, and will continue to enjoy it once in awhile since I don’t have a ton of choices within an hour drive. But it might not be for everyone.
Very good pizza crust and tomato sauce but I can’t recommend Flatbread because we were not informed by our server that GF pizzas take 50+ minutes as compared to non GF. Our server was very attentive until she got our order than we didn’t see her again until the check came over an hour and a half later. Never offered refills on drinks or advised us on the increase wait time for GF. We saw another family come in, eat and leave all in 50 minutes! Do not bring children here! I should mention the restaurant was only â…” full and it was 1:30 on a Saturday.

My daughter’s gf pizza was prepared in its own sheet pan to avoid cross-contamination. She loved it. The server was very knowledgeable and understanding.

I normally don't do pizza places because of flour/cross contamination risks, but I tried this place on our last day of vacation based off of the reviews. While they do offer gf pizza, separate prep area and it's cooked on it's own tray in the oven, I still got very sick. There's flour everywhere in here and I'm also wondering if maybe they used the same pizza cutter despite all the other precautions. Either way...it was not a pleasant road trip home.

Great experience! Gluten free pizza made in a separate disposable tin. Crust was from “A Peace of Mind” bakery...delicious. Dairy free was available, too!
Yes
Delicious GF pizzas available, not sure what crust they use but it's great! You still get the stone oven taste but they cook it on its own single-use tray so it's safe. Been here several times now without issue.
Excellent gluten free pizza! Knowledgeable server, our pizza was made on disposable pans, separate prep area and ingredients. Crusts are made by “A piece of mind” bakery in NH. My 8 year old with celiac was in heaven. Salads were yummy too!
Yes
Good selection of GF options (including dessert), asked if it was a preference or allergy, and didn't make me sick. They prepared the pizza in a separate area and cooked it on a safe pan. I went here based on the good reviews here on Find Me GF--after my server gave me all the disclaimers about how they can't guarantee anything is GF, told me the precautions they take, and came just short of recommending that someone with celiac shouldn't eat there, I went ahead and ate here based on their good reviews and had no issues, but the server nearly had me too scared to eat there.

Amazing flatbread and the tables outside in the back are awesome on a nice summer night! I had the brownie sundae as well and didn't get sick. Would definitely go back!

I will admit that I was terrified I was going to be sick here after watching them prep all of the non-GF pizzas and seeing how much flour is flying around. My pizza was prepped in the back and came out separately, and I did not end up sick! The crust was delicious and the pizza was actually a full sized pizza. Waiter was able to answer questions about whether certain sauces and toppings were gluten free
