A small and cozy diner. The guy on the balcony, very kind, speaks good English, knows about celiac disease and is able to direct customers. Excellent value for money, several gluten-free options. I ate there 3 times and never got sick or had cross contamination problems
Homely buffet cafe serving a wide range of Turkish dishes. The server was really helpful when I said I had celiac disease. He pointed out the dishes I could eat and even told me that one contained mustard. A nice spot for a light lunch - lots of mezze dishes and also hot options.
Really tasty restaurant tucked away on a side street near Galata tower. The owner/chef went over everything in the food case and let my partner and I know what was gf (which was nearly everything.) We had the chef/owner pick 6 of his favorite cold mezze for us to try. Then we got sautéed greens, eggplant, and meat stew (with rice) that were all hot dishes. All of the food was phenomenal! If you’re anywhere near Galata tower and want traditional Turkish food, don’t hesitate to stop in this establishment.
A wonderful surprise on our first day in Istanbul: traditional Turkish food that I could eat without worrying if/how sick I might end up, prepared and served by genuinely nice people. They are very well informed about gluten and will help with the selection of dishes, suggesting best combinations etc. The food is delicious and full of fresh vegetables; a must try is fresh pomegranate juice. My husband (non-celiac) and I both had a very nice dinner here and have really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the hospitality. Well worth visiting.
A nice cute buffet like place where there is delicious Turkish food, it’s mostly vegetarian but there is a lot of meat options. If you want to have a taste of homemade food which is also very good, then this place is for you. BASICALLY ITS SAFE, THE WAITERS KNOW ALL ABOUT GLUTEN FREE FOOD, AND ITS JUST DELICIOUS.
This place is wonderful, they have very good Turkish food selection. They modify some meals from flour based meal to Gluten Free versions. They are very knowledgeable about Gluten, Lactose and Vegan. The only downside is they charge for GF bread. There are some meals with gluten but they tell what you can eat or not eat. Out of 30-40 dishes there were on 4 dishes containing gluten.
Absolutely beautiful little place a block from the touristy chaos of Galeta. I did not even have to show my Turkish gluten free explanation card. The person behind the counter will tell you exactly what you can/cannot eat. You pick a main and sides; each dish comes on a separate plate. Had an artichoke cap filled with rice and mincemeat, some of the best broccoli ever, and an eggplant/tomato dish. Everything delicious! Highly recommend.
This place was my oasis on a very hot day. It is a buffet like style but they plate the food for you. The guy behind the counter spoke English amazingly and already knew what I needed regarding gluten free, so didn't need to show him my info card. Most things were gf. Everything had its own utensil, so looked safe to me. I glimpsed the kitchen in the back and it looked quite big, so good space to avoid cross contamination. I got half a main with rice, 2 appetisers, water and a tea, spending 250 turkish lira. They also had air-conditioning which was amazing for August. I highly recommend this place.
You have to eat here!!! Istanbul is REALLY tricky for GF, and this is the one of the best spots I’ve found in my time here.
The food is fantastic, and feels like home style Turkish cooking. It’s cafeteria-style, where they have ~16 different main dishes and sides, and you pick which you’d like. They were wonderful at explaining what was in each dish and were extremely cognizant of gluten free requirements and other allergens.
I don’t know the names of the dishes, but I had some sautéed spinach, aubergine stuffed with rice and beef served with yogurt on the side (optional), and some lemony artichoke hearts and sea asparagus. Plus they have gluten free bread available on the side!
Amazing, amazing food in a really cozy, welcoming space. Couldn’t recommend this spot more highly: it’s an oasis in a sea of non-gf food!
Ala carte items of modern Turkish food offering Gluten Free and Vegan options. Had stuffed cabbage rolls with two sides which was very filling. English speaking staff patiently read my celiac card and indicated only a couple items not GF. Located just around the corner from Galata Tower. Delicious food and helpful restaurant staff.
