We ordered some takeout for Valentines dinner and I was so excited to have orange chicken again! When we got home I noticed my food, which I ordered from the gluten free menu and had a GF mark on the takeout ticket, did not have any gluten free markings on the containers. I was hesitant to eat it, however comparing to pictures from previous reviews it looked the same. The food itself was fine, but I am also on day 3 of a very upset stomach and suspect there was some cross contamination.
Great takeout but I don’t recommend eating at the restaurant. We regularly get takeout with no issues but every time we’ve dined in service has been understaffed and incredibly slow. The Massaman curry and sesame chicken are particular favorites.
Takeout isn’t cheap but it comes with large portions, has always been tasty, and I’ve never been sick. I hope they can improve the dine in experience. We recently saw a sign about a front of house strike but I have no other information. I hope the restaurant sticks around.
Favorite gluten-free joint. Gluten-free menu, easy to navigate, staff is knowledgeable, lots of gluten-free options. Safe kitchen ans prep.
Went in slightly before opening for dinner service. The sign said open but they weren’t. One of the owners was inside and let us sit down to wait for 20 minutes u til opening. Offered us drinks. I ordered the spicy honey chicken and sesame chicken. I almost cried. It was so delicious it was just like “normal” Chinese takeaway. I will be back!
Update: I went back… and I’m not feeling too good 20 min after eating. Possible CC in the sesame chicken.
I was really excited the Gluten free menu has so many options and gets dropped off automatically. However the experience was awful only 2 employees running the front of house. The owner sat at a laptop at the bar playing EDM nightclub music (for reference we had dinner at 5:30 on a Sunday). When the food finally arrived after an hour plus wait the spring rolls were AWFUL and we still didn’t have our mains. Another long swath of time passed and the mains were never delivered we left. We waited over an hour and a half before throwing in the towel to leave and it wasn’t busy.
Right when we sat down the server asked if anyone was gluten free, then handed me the gd menu. That always makes me feel more comfortable! We had the salt & pepper calamari and it was delicious. The owner spoke with my husband for a few minutes and assured him that they were very aware of celiac and worked to prevent cross contamination.
I've only been there once but it went well and the staff were very knowledgeable. there was a great gluten free menu with lots of choices. I ordered sesame chicken which was absolutely amazing and a salad which was good too. I also tried the egg drop soup which was good and the moo moo gai pan which was okay but wasn't my particular favorite. I felt safe eating there and gluten free stuff was served on a different plate so I can see myself coming back there in the future.
We have seen it raved about so attempted to eat here tonight. First they greeted the couple behind us as we were walking in and not us. They told them to seat themselves so we did the same. They brought them menus and silverware but not us. Other groups came in and got menus while we were still waiting. After close to 15 min we walked out. Will not return.
Guests BEWARE!
We are long time patrons of GOJI BISTRO, coming up on 2 years. Goji has been incredible on dealing with our allergies and has always been very consistent.
Our visit today left a sour taste on our love for Goji, upon entering the building we could smell a strong gas odor throughout. Other guests also stated they could smell it as well, this was reported to the manager on duty and quickly brushed off. Even our server stated he could smell gas. Since management refused to call the fire department to make sure everything was safe I decided to call them myself. FD quickly responded and did note that there was lingering gas, they quickly proceeded to air out the building with a fan. Every firefighter that came up to us said we did the right thing and there was gas lingering in the building, Dominion Gas also showed up to confirm.
Management refused and still refuses to acknowledge the incident, this is absurd and concerning. There was a much better way to handle this situation and Goji failed to do so in the correct manner. I also attempted to post this on the Gluten Free Gang of Raleigh NC & Surrounding Areas but the post was not approved stating management said there was no gas leak.
The food is great, hopefully management will learn from this situation and create/revise their handling of gas odors.
Had a great meal! Waitress came to table and asked if anyone needed a gluten free menu which has never happened to us anywhere else. Great selection of menu items, multiple appetizers. Had the fried calamari (it was great) and summer rolls and the Goji Chicken. Everything was great. Good cocktails too!
Goji Bistro is one of my absolute favorite go-to GF restaurants. They have an entire gluten free menu with a variety of items. This is one of the few places where I am absolutely confident I can enjoy classic chinese restaurant dishes without risking gluten contamination. Highly recommended!
I went to Goji to get my celiac son some great food. He wanted the GF sesame chicken, and I got the (gluten) sesame chicken. After he was finished eating/full I tried a bite and his GF sesame chicken was way way better than goji regular sesame chicken. I am definitely ordering 2 plates of this GF dish next time.

They have gf Pho!! And it’s delicious!! So happy they added this to the menu!
Celiac and super sensitive to CC - this is a great restaurant. It’s my go-to for Chinese! I’ve been on a low fodmap diet and avoiding garlic and ordered the s/p calamari app- honestly could’ve eaten this for dinner! Got the sweet shrimp dinner- can’t remember the name, (fried shrimp in a mayo sauce with pineapples and pecans) served with steamed broccoli- it’s enough for 2 meals because it’s heavy- and it was delicious!!
Great atmosphere very clean nice gluten free menu. Staff is very nice.
Overall, great experience. 4.5 stars.
Safety:
Extensive gluten free menu! Many options. Staff is clearly knowledgeable and automatically brought a GF menu over without having to ask. Regular menu provides symbols next to each dish for dietary needs.
Service:
Kitchen staff was great, food came out super fast. Wait staff was nice and knowledgeable, but a bit slow for their server to customer ratio.
Food Quality:
Orange chicken and Mongolian beef were fantastic. Pad Thai was decent but needed more lime. Portion sizes were generous, including meat dishes. My one complaint: the side of fried rice was shockingly bad compared to the quality of the rest.
Atmosphere:
Very cute place, nice decor, clean, and beautiful lighting. However, the country music in the background ruined the vibe.
Overall:
I would definitely go back. Food was great, and I felt safe eating there. How often do you find quality, GF Chinese food??
What an amazing experience!! Ken, the co-owner came out to greet our party of 8 and to welcome us. It was delightful. I’m the only one who required GF dining but he was clear to let me know that it was celiac-safe. I ordered the orange chicken and it was, quite simply, marvelous! I highly recommend this small business.
Almost their whole menu can be made GF! This trip I got their Orange Beef w/Fried Rice and a side of Egg Drop Soup.
The manager/part owner, Ken, is such a pleasure to speak with and has asked me to post his card for any food allergen questions you may want to reach out to him with. He even brought out the bottle of soy sauce they use so that I could inform others. Everything that is fried is flash fried in cornstarch, dedicated fryer. #gojibistro #gfchinese #glutenfreechinese #glutenfreenc #glutenfreecarync #carync #glutenfreescavengerhunt #gfscavengerhunt #gf #orangebeef
I have been looking for Gluten Free Orange Chicken since I was diagnosed with Celiac a few years ago, and I was absolutely thrilled to find it here!!! They have a very extensive gluten free menu, including fried food! It was so good!!! I did not feel sick at all after eating here!!!
I ordered the salt and pepper calamari and sesame chicken from the gluten free menu. I called in my order and notified them I am celiac, and they assured they would take precautions to prepare a safe meal. The food tasted great, and I didn’t have any reactions. I would recommend this place and I will visit again.
Such a wonderful experience! Massive gluten free menu and almost everything can be made gluten free. The owner was so kind and gave my partner free pork buns to take home and didn’t want me to feel left out so gave me free summer rolls. He was so thoughtful and remembered our names. First meal out I have had in a long long time that did not make me sick at all — which says a lot.
Our go-to place for celebrations since they cater to everyone’s preferences. The celiacs in our family have never had a reaction, and my daughter with a peanut allergy is able to eat here safely as well. Staff is friendly and food is delicious!! Our favorites are the General Tso’s chicken and Chicken fried rice, but we usually share 4-5 different entrees. Never have had a bad meal here!
Goji is one of my favorite go-to's for Thai food. I am super glad they made it through the pandemic! I've tried almost all of their curries, their Pad Thai, Singapore Noodles, their Pineapple fried rice, and Papaya salad. All were spot on. They have a separate gluten-free menu and as a Celiac, I have yet to get sick eating here.
We originally found Goji Bistro via the Find Me Gluten Free mobile app while out in Cary, in November. Our first experience was wonderful with the food being absolutely delicious! We have visited again since and met the owners during a night where they were short staffed and juggling it all. As a former restaurant worker - I sympathize with the struggle. Despite staff shortage, we had another amazing meal and enjoyed chatting with the owners. This establishment is Celiac knowledgeable and friendly. The food is fresh and delicious, and the cocktails do not disappoint! We look forward to our next outing in Cary and enjoying Goji Bistro again and again!
I’m extremely celiac, I will get sick at the slightest contamination and this place was great! I’m always super nervous to try new places but my boyfriend found this one and we had a great experience! They prepare gluten free in a separate area and plate it differently (square lined plates). Did not get sick and it was delicious!
Incredible service and food. Felt completely safe. There are different plates for GF dishes and the owner is very forthcoming and helpful. Great experience overall!
