This is a very nice place with friendly and helpful staff. There are gluten free options, but much of it is cooked on the same surfaces as other food. Cross contamination is a risk. They have gluten free waffles cooked separately. Gluten free bread is available. We wanted toast or French toast, but the cook was too busy to use separate pan to cook it. Prices are a bit gigh but food is good. Overall, nice place

I cannot say enough good things about this place. As other reviewers stated the owner has a wheat allergy so safety is her number one concern.

I was highly impressed that she was working with her staff as a food runner and keeping things flowing. We were able to meet her and get to chat.

The wait will be long but that’s typical for any good breakfast place on a summer day! Things were exceptional! Fist gf waffle in years and it was the BEST!

This place is great! Owner, Chrissy, is wheat anaphylactic and gets it. Dedicated pans, toaster, and waffle maker. I had the Chrissy omelette and fruit. My non-allergy family loved their dishes (chowder, monte cristo, waffles, and wrap) and voted this a “do again”.

Amazing gluten free Belgium waffle. Went here 2 days in a row on our weekend trip to the cape and it was delicious.

MUST STOP if you are in the area. My new favorite breakfast spot. they are super safe and very knowledgeable. the owner has celiac. The place itself is really clean, bright, friendly. they kept our coffee filled the whole time. loved all of our food and finished everything. no crumb left behind!

This place is delicious! Had the eggs Benny with their homemade hollandaise sauce (naturally dairy free). The GF waffles are the best I’ve had! The server was great too. My non-gluten free friends were so happy to be introduced to a new breakfast spot.

The BEST - You haven’t lived until you’ve had their gluten-free corn beef Benedict on a waffle! They take cross-contamination extremely seriously, the owner has celiac. Highly recommend! The only breakfast place I will go now.

Had a great experience at Friends Cafe. Menu is clearly marked for what can be prepared gluten free. The owner and staff were well informed about gluten issues. They do not do pancakes as they only have one griddle but do waffles as they can be prepared in their own waffle maker. I opted for the steak and cheese omelet. Definitely will return.

Wow!! Owner has wheat allergy and reassured me that my meal would not suffer from any cross contamination. They have dedicated toasters, skillets, everything! Best gluten free waffle I have ever had. The fruit was fresh, and the home fries were tasty. She had a couple of young teenagers learning the ropes/interning as wait staff which was great to me, as I remember how hard it was to land a job at that age. Very genuine owner and waitstaff. Will come again before my vacation is over.

Owner is GF so staff is well trained! Got a waffle and it was amazing—they have a separate iron—and they have a separate toaster for GF toast. I tried to order bacon but the waitress warned me they share same space as wheat items, sad about the bacon but relieved she had thought about that!! Very busy place but open year round!!

The staff was so great and assured me right away about their cross contamination measures and told me all the things they could make me. I had the waffle and home fries which they were able to make gf. The previous reviewer said they couldn’t do home fries so maybe it depends on how busy they are (I don’t know). We were there on a Wednesday in October. Would love to go back.

Went here recently with my family, while the have options that are safe for celiacs (bread and waffles on separate machines) they can’t do bacon, home fries or anything else on the grill as they cook bread there as well. They were knowledgeable and helpful but I can’t get past not having bacon and home fires at a breakfast place 😐

The staff was educated and careful of cross contamination. On the menu it showed which items had a gluten free alternative (which was almost all) and it was helpful. Food was ready in less than 15 minutes and was delicious. Amazing service.

I had a gluten free “red white and blue waffle” which was a fresh made regular size Belgian waffle with strawberries, bananas and blueberries and whipped cream . Going back again tomorrow!

2 slices of small loaf udis with omelet. the omelet tasted great. They have a separate gf toaster. The udis bread leaves a lot to be desired. Especially with the extra $2 charge and the cash only.

If your gluten & dairy free, this is not the place to go for breakfast. Everything has dairy except their oatmeal, which isn't very good. Wish they had more options.

This place is amazing! In addition to having celiac disease, I have a severe allergy to peanuts, tree nuts and soy. They GET IT! The staff is knowledgeable, accommodating, and the food is great.

So nice to have a friendly and safe place to eat.
