Gluten free options were great, including tasty pancakes (blueberries and goat cheese - go for it!) and so much more. Don’t miss out on this one for breakfast or lunch.
Went during the brunch-rush. Ordered GF pancakes and unfortunately 30 minutes had a very strong reaction. Considering there was even an up-charge to ensure a gluten-free cooking area we were very disappointed.
Soooo good. Wife and I had their quesadilla, banana bread French toast, and the lemon Blueberry goat cheese pancakes... Yes all in one sitting... Don't judge us. Haha. Wife has Celiacs, so we have to take good food when we can get it. Super good, for pancakes they use GF bisquick, waiter was familiar with cross contamination, they are farm to table which is cool. Etc etc. We will be going back every breakfast while on our trip. Also, prices are inexpensive for what you get.
service was good. gf blueberry lemon pancakes were yummy!
Best gluten free breakfast I have had in 5 years of being gluten free! I had the lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes. You would never know they were gluten free. The service was fantastic. We went back the next day it was so good. I had a breakfast sandwich on a gluten free croissant! I do not have celiac but I do have Multiple Sclerosis and get symptoms within 30 minutes of being glutened. I felt great both times I ate here. I highly recommend this place!
I have only been in here a few times. We had omelets. What got us was they charged us for GF. We didn't want the GF bread because we all know, it just isn't the same. So we just had Omelets and hashbrowns. They charged us the GF surcharge because they had to clean the grill. I am sorry, Omelets are made on a clean grill always. There was no extra work involved in making the omelets. On top of that they charged us twice for the surcharge because both of us ordered GF. Now, if it was something specific that they had do to make it gluten free or if they really had to clean the grill for certain items, I am all for the extra charge. But not for omelets.
Delicious! Had the Migas mexicana and a gluten free pancake. The waitress was very knowledgeable and they took great care of me. I felt very comfortable eating there.
Food is average. Help understands GF menu. GF menu options are good.
My wife and I spent a week in South Padre during the "off" season and were pleasantly surprised with this place. We ended up eating here 3 times over the course of the week, and every time it was successfully gluten free and delicious. If you like breakfast food like we do, you will not be disappointed!
Absolutely delicious! I got a gf pancake and an egg breakfast with eggs, home fries, and bacon. Best gf pancake I have ever had!
WARNING: I loved this place until I noticed crackers placed in the table sugar!!!! I have never seen this before so beware. Other than that, many items are gluten free and one of the few options on the island.
Gluten free is a $1.25 up charge. Menu was very clearly marked for gluten free and vegetarian. Everything tastes great and tummy feels fine. If you have kids and they use the bathroom by themselves, the soap is very high, above the light switch so they probably didn't wash their hands if they have trouble with light switches at home.
SO GOOD! Items are clearly marked on the menu, and the kitchen takes excellent care about cleaning cooking and preparation surfaces and utensils. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food, and our waiter Dan didn't forget a single thing. He also communicated to the kitchen that I had celiac and made sure my food was perfect. I am stuffed, happy, and coming back tomorrow! UPDATE: We went again today- it was perfection round two. Fat and happy again!
Everything was really good. We had breakfast; pancakes (gf), chicken and waffles (not gf) and French toast (not gf). Everyone enjoyed their food and the espresso drinks. We tried the Vietnamese coffee, peppermint mocha frappe and a hot mocha. The menu is clearly marked and they will substitute to make things gluten free but if they think there is a chance that it may not be totally gluten free they will let you know and actually tell you they can't do it.
Food was mediocre. Plus when we went to check out, they told us their credit card machine wasn't working nor the atm. No warning before seating us. We didn't have enough cash to cover our bill and they tried to make us come back later to cover it. Nope. Very irritating. Won't be back.
Thank goodness for this restaurant. I've eaten here twice on my vacation to SPI and it is delicious and celiac friendly.
Have eaten there twice this week and will probably return prior to leaving this island. The owner is very knowledgable about GF and celiac safety. Food is tasty and affordable.
This place is awesome. Great food. Excellent staff. Very gluten free friendly and knowledgeable. I have Celiac Disease and my wife has endometriosis so it is very important for us to be careful to avoid gluten. We thought we were going to have to cook every day of our vacation because it was hard to find a place that even knew what gluten was. Grapevine cafe came to the rescue. Big props to our new friends Gino and Ruben. We ate there several times and never got glutened.
This place is very warm and welcoming. They played music overhead and some young girls at a table next to us got up to swing-dance, it was adorable. One of the waitresses at a table next to us photo-bombed a couple of men taking a selfie and they laughed a bunch. Point is, this is a really friendly and happy place. I wrote at first that our server seemed inexperienced, but I think it was because they just got a new tablet ordering system. Both of our servers on both days were extremely friendly and helpful. The staff was very knowledgeable about gluten-free needs and they said that the owner is celiac (or gluten-intolerant, I can't remember which) and so they're very strict about it. A family member ordered a plate gluten-free so that I could try a bite and when it came out our server knew just by looking at it that it wasn't GF and sent it back. I got their crab meat enchiladas, which were amazing (but fairly spicy, so beware if you don't like the heat). Their smoothies are also GF and are fabulous. They use fresh fruits/vegetables and fresh-caught fish and crab, and you can tell the quality is better. After our food came out one of the servers (not ours) came by to check if I liked the enchiladas because they're his favorite as well. Would definitely recommend this place for gluten-free, but they have vegetarian/vegan options as well and their food is great even if you don't have a food issue, my family loved every plate we got and only two (of six) were GF. They get very high ratings from me. We're only in South Padre for two more days but if I can come again on both of those days, I will. There were quite a few GF options I didn't get to try.
Excellent. My kids had gluten free pancakes and they were bunny faces. Nice to have a place where my kids can enjoy their favorite breakfast foods.
So many GF and Vegetarian options for breakfast and lunch. It's s bit pricey but you get lots of food. Everything was delicious. You do have to specify that you want GF. The pancakes were amazing. The crab omelet had real crab! I will try to make this a stop every time I come to South Padre Island.
Lots is GF options. Great service. Tasty coffee. My boyfriend and I shared the pancakes and crab omelette. Delicious.
Delicious gf pancakes (I had mine with blueberries) and cappuccino. Service s-l-o-w..........
Menu is clearly marked gluten-free. Owner's wife is gluten intolerant and was very knowledgeable. They at working on getting gluten-free buns and bread for lunch. Awesome!
